I saw my tape of "Re-Awakening" this morning. I'll save the comments on it for tomorrow, however, after the room clears.

AIRWALKER - I'm not quite certain as to how anything going on between Dingo and Hyena would be Shakespearean (at least, it doesn't match anything that I know about Dingo's "Shakespeare original", Prince Hal aka Henry V). One other thing that I forgot to mention about "Her Brother's Keeper" - I found it of interest that the diamond that Jackal and Hyena were out to steal and that Xanatos bought was the "Coyote Diamond". Sounds like a little foreshadowing reference to me.

Brentwood is out as Lexington's significant other anyway, since Greg Weisman said that the s.o. would be a new character who hasn't appeared in the series yet.

Hey guys!
Syrin, I tried using that website address you gave me, but I kept getting a window that said; no matching files found. Is it possible that - was it White? - that her internet site has changed?
Thanks.
Oh, and my email has changed too.
Thanks.

BUD-CLARE - You wrote: [Maybe Brentwood _is_ gay... _and_ Lex's future mate. Narcissism should not be ruled out. ;)]

Theoretically possible but on the other hand when the clones first appeared Lex seemed the most creeped out by them (Brooklyn on the other hand was less creeped out as much as he was pissed off) so I'm not so sure that its a very strong possibility. Besides even if Lex was interested in Brentwood, who's to say that Brent would be interested in Lex? :-) (If we're considering narcissism then we could also consider self-hatred. :-) )

TODD - You wrote: [Another amusing bit is where Jackal's having to hold back an increasingly fuming Hyena at the Diamond Exchange.]

What I thought was interesting was her bringing up Dingo and how she should have gone with him to Europe; it implied two things to me - first that its possible that Dingo actually invited her and second that before she ended up falling for Cyoti, she might have had an interest in him. After all she keeps bringing him up over and over again. (She mentions him again in GRIEF.) It would be something interesting to explore in BAD GUYS; and wouldn't it fit in with the Shakespearean background that Greg was giving Dingo, to have had him involved on some level with Hyena?

MOONCAT - You wrote: [I'm betting on him being either one of the gargoyles from the clans we have yet to meet, or one of Oberon's children, or possibly an Alien or Artificial Intelligence of some kind. Gargoyle/Human romance is pretty much sewed up by Goliath and Elisa.]

Actually I figured more that it would be someone he met in his business dealings. He is supposed to start working for Xanatos at some point and have some part in that company or his own company that merges (or is a subdivision) of Xanatos Enterprises. Doesn't G2198 have a Xanatos-Lexington Company still in existance?

I'm leaning towards Fey (or Fey in Human form) as his love interest; mainly because I don't think that after adding the Timedancers to the Clan that introducing another Gargoyle is going to be a great idea; we already have a big main cast and there is no need to swell it to a proportion that might be too much to deal with. I lean against Alien or A.I. mainly because I don't think A.I. is going to be as advanced enough to be completely sentient and independent by the time Lex decides on someone and that Aliens aren't going to have shown up at the planetary doorstep yet. (New Olympians seem out of the question to me too unless they show up anytime soon in the modern world. As it is I don't think that they can show up until Gargoyles get some sort of detente with the Human world working that would act as a signal to the New Olympians that they can reveal themselves. And by that point I figure Lex would have already have ended up with someone.)

hello, guys

While browsing on the site of the WB, I saw a reference about a new show called Tarzan & Jane. A young man who was raised in Africa --Tarzan-- is brought to NYC by his uncle. There, he meet a young detective, Jane Potter whom he'll help in her investigations.
Does that remind anybody of a certain Disney animated series? :p :p

Mooncat: have you reinstalled yahoo msg yet?

That's all, folks!

Jimmy - 2 percent? Where did you get your numbers from? That would be two people in a hundred, and just from personal observation of the general population around me, it's a heck of a lot higher than that. I live in the Bible Belt, amid the corn and beef fed townsfolk of the Midwest. You can't get more white bread conservative than the state of Kansas, and the percentage of gay people here is not that small. The common accepted average percentage is 10 percent, as in 1 in 10 people, and it's probably a lot higher than that because that is from an old survey that probably didn't get an accurate reading because of some people being in the closet. It's at *least* ten percent in the midwest, so I'd wager it's significantly higher in other places.

Lex's future love... I'm betting on him being either one of the gargoyles from the clans we have yet to meet, or one of Oberon's children, or possibly an Alien or Artificial Intelligence of some kind. Gargoyle/Human romance is pretty much sewed up by Goliath and Elisa.

Well, the accepted proportion of homosexuals in the human population is about 2%. So assuming it is the same for Gargoyles, if we can get a rough count of the gargoyles on Earth and find out the population of homosexual Gargs, we will have an approximation of the amount of eligible bachelors for Lexington to choose from. I am, of course, ruling out the possibility of Lex mating with a human since Greg said he wanted to keep the G&E relationship unique. But, knowing Lex, it is also possible that he falls in love with a robot or something (maybe the model one LXM?). That would definitely be unique. Just throwing out some ideas.

sry bout the double post......

while playing around, I discovered how to insert quotes into music. Now, I have ACDC's Thunderstruck playing on my menu, with quotes from Leader of the Pack randomly inserted. ^_^

I think I need some sleep.

Finally found Metamorphosis, captured it, finished encoding just a few minutes ago, and tried to set up dvd number 5. This one is producing more problems than any of the others combined. I got my image for the menu (I decided to go with the one pictured on my link), I discovered how to link together sound bytes, so I replaced music with some quotes, but they don't seem to fit. I have Hudson's speech about gargoyles protecting the castle and breathing the air from Reawakening (the one that plays when Goliath and Cold Stone are in the water) and Brooklyn's "now, THEY know how to make an entrance" from Leader of the Pack. Haven't gotten one from Meta, but the plan was to get one from it and add to the mix. When I preview my menu tho, it just doesn't feel right. I got this image of Xanatos (not really, but everyone thought it was Xanatos before the face was chewed up) and this sad music and Hudson's speech in the background.....I think I'm gonna have to rethink this whole quote thing.

Another roadblock sprang up this morning when I put in the finished version of Metamorphosis. The name of the episode wordwraps with the last "s", so under the screenshot, I get this:

Metamorphosi
s

That looks really bad. Now I gotta figure out a way to resize the text on that one (and have it look smaller than the other 2) and hope that it will stop the wrap. It's either that or make it Meta- Morphosis with the second half under Meta-. Tried that just now and not real happy with it either.

Man, all these Gathering reports really makes me want to attend next year's convention. Canada is a long way to travel for a small-town guy from SC, who has never been out of the south (been to Virginia once, and Alabama once).

Still....if I can save a few thousand before next summer, then I might just make the journey.

Just wanted to ask if there are more sites like MGC and AMGC. I just stumbled into them and they are by far the best art sites 'bout the Garg universum I've seen yet.

And... 'bout Lex mate... maybe he's an Alien, like Nokkar. ;)

Saw my tape of "Her Brother's Keeper" today. The episode that starts the Mutates thread in "Gargoyles", and where Greg Weisman first realized that Xanatos and Fox were an item.

One bit that really made me LOL was when Lexington makes his emergency landing of the Pack's helicopter, Brooklyn goes flying out, and before he can get up, Broadway goes flying out too and lands on Brooklyn. Poor Brooklyn! And what makes it even funnier is the way that he responds (glowering at Broadway and drumming the ground with his fingers).

Another amusing bit is where Jackal's having to hold back an increasingly fuming Hyena at the Diamond Exchange. Hyena is one person who definitely does not have "self-restraint" in her vocabulary.

Elisa really ought to have thought things out better before walking into the men's locker room; no wonder Derek was so unwilling to listen to her, after her embarrassing him (and his fellow-cops) like that!

I've got to admit that the first time that I saw this episode, I really did think that the tape that Elisa gave Derek would change his mind about working for Xanatos. Of course, "Metamorphosis" made it clear that it didn't (if he ever actually listened to it).

And Xanatos displays all his usual chutzpah, even telling Fox to tell Elisa all about his plan simply because he knows that she can't do a thing about it.

Waves to Lynati--- ahhh yes! Anna the Shameless *^_^* I was wondering if we'd be allowed to mention that online. Best Rocky Horror showing I ever went to *claps hands* and I don't mean the Time Warp.

I saw more naked people in person this Gathering than I usually see all year. Maybe as much as in the last three years.

I feel so lucky it was our table Anna danced on *^_^* -- since I was sitting with three con virgins, all suitably impressed, it was interesting to note of the three at least two are going to move heaven and earth to make next year's Gathering in Toronto.

*^_~* -- heh... actually it's the whole con experience, the group I hung with absolutely loved the Gathering, and the meeting people and everything. All the pretty topless girls were simply icing on the cake. Extremely nice icing... sigh.

The Gathering was muchly purrsome! Will do a journal later, probably tomorrow. I just got back late Wednesday, slept and cleaned house yesterday, and today I am going out with friends to celebrate the 4th of July *^_^* whee!!!!

bye for now

ps, Siryn, if I may ask, what do you need the graphic for? Curious. =)

Airwalker> Thanks for the suggestions. I thought about putting that image from Thrill of the Hunt (also had one from Awakening, where Xanatos is sitting at his desk with his eyes narrowed), but wanted to stay with the image from one of the episodes on the disc thing. I've done that on the other 4.

I've put one that I'm considering on the weblink I have on this post. I don't have a website yet, and haven't found the time to work on one. Maybe one day I'll create one with all the Garg pics and sound bytes I'm making. Didn't realize the pics were getting that numerous. ^_^

I've done two episodes for the next disc, but I have to look for Metamorphosis. I hope it is on one of the tapes I haven't labeled yet. Otherwise it was on my sisters tape and is now long gone. *sigh*

Oh well. If Toon Disney follows schedule, they'll finish season 1 and show the first 3 episodes of season 2 this weekend. I'll get it then.

Happy 4th of July everyone!

AIRWALKER - That is a fascinating point that you made about the significance of the gargoyles battling Xanatos and his robots in "The Edge" at the Statue of Liberty, and one which I hadn't considered before. (Kind of appropriate that that issue would be raised on or around Independence Day.) I wonder if that idea had even occurred to Greg Weisman and the other members of the production team, or whether they had just decided upon the Statue of Liberty as a familiar New York landmark that was enough out of the way for Goliath and Co. to consider it a feasible battle site (much the way that the George Washington Bridge was one in "Re-Awakening"). At any rate, thanks for mentioning it.

TODD - You wrote: [I seriously doubt that after September 11 they would ever be able to do that Statue of Liberty battle on an animated series - at least, not one on a weekday afternoon on a regular broadcast channel.]

Actually I don't think that Battle of Liberty Island (that has a more epic ring to it :-) ) would have much of a problem being done on television even these days. The battle itself was enough in the realm of Sci-Fi that it isn't really problematic. After all it is basically a fight against flying robots. The ClockTower being blown up with a missile on the other hand is something that would never make it on air these days. But the fight in THE EDGE isn't even a problem. (Besides I can't picture it happening anywhere else - Fighting by the Statue has a big symbolic value to the entire story in the episode; after all the Gargoyles are immigrants seeking freedom and aren't really free until the end of THE EDGE - what better place for that to happen than at the Statue of Libery?)

You wrote: [I doubt that Lexington's significant other will be a human, actually, simply because Greg has already mentioned wanting to keep Goliath and Elisa's situation unique.]

I agree. I doubt that Greg would want two Gargoyle/Human relationships in the same time period and in the same series. It seems more likely that Lex is either going to end up with a Gargoyle, Fay, or NOlympian. (And from those three I'd lean more towards either NOlympian or Fey. Fey seem more likely; after all Lex spends most of his time with Alex and Alex is going to have to spend most of his time causing trouble, uh... I mean getting an education from whatever Fey Oberon lets off Avalon. NOlympians are a possibility but it depends when they actually get to NYC; I don't think that they can show up anytime before Human/Gargoyle relations improve or it would throw the entire dynamic off. Besides it would seem more likely that they would use how Humans treat Gargoyles as a barometer on whether they should reveal themselves or not. And by the time they show up Lex might have already met someone. But on the other hand has any Fey ever had a stable relationship with a mortal? By the way did we ever get a revelation on who Owen would end up with? And could the two plot developments be connected?

LEXINGTON'S ORIENTATION - I was a bit suprised by this revelation; I didn't really consider it as a strong possibility mainly because I didn't think it would be a direction that Disney would allow one of their shows to take.

NICKEROUS - You wrote: [Also, I'm at a loss as to what image I'm going to use for the menu on this dvd.]

How about either Coldstone at the moment when the spotlight shines on him and reveals what he looks like to the audience (and Goliath)? Or alternately how a picture of Cyoti when he reveals himself to the Pack (but before his face gets shredded by Bronx)? That would make better sense since Xanatos is the driving force behind all three episodes. (Actually the best screenshot in my head for those three would be the closeup of Xanatos from the end of THRILL OF THE HUNT when he's grinning after he finishes talking to Owen, right before the episode went into the credits. Xanatos grinning in the background of a menu dealing with 3 episodes where he has a particularly important role seems right.)

BATTLE BEAST - You wrote: [But it surprises me that Greg would do that because he's making a genetic type of wing structure become extinct.]

I don't think that it would make the Lex wing structure extinct; the continuation of that wing structure is not solely dependent on him. Other clans must have members with that type of wing structure. (There might have been one in the background in BUSHIDO but I don't really remember. And we haven't seen all the Clans yet.) Besides what's to stop the other couples from producing children with that Wing Structure?

LEO - You wrote: [Well, that doesn't necessarily prevent him from breeding with an unmated female for the sole purpose of reproduction.]

Or having himself cloned. Or having a test tube baby. Or even not being concerned about having biological children since after all since Gargoyles raise their young in rookeries, he automatically becomes a father without actually having to have an egg in the rookery.

Vin/castle0909: oh, Lex's wings are completely detachable. in fact, his arm struts are even set up for easy removal. don't see why the toy should be any different.

...and for the record, it was my very old friend Anna (Anna of no tact and less shame- in fact, the very Anna who provided the topless table-top entertainment during rocky horror while we had to get the dvd player working again halfway through the show) who put the Lexington question to Greg during the blue mug.

Anyone else who feels like posting their Gathering 2003 diary or journal here go right ahead. No worries.

A present for you webphiles with Gargoyles websites:
http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/archives/materials/

It's some Illustrator files (among other formats) of the Gargoyles logo. Very handy stuff! No longer do you need to bother cleaning up some old/crappy copy of the logo. Here it is in all it's vector-glory.

I've also made a few quick wallpapers from this. You can snag them here: http://s8.org/gargoyles/archives/wallpaper/

An example in 1024x768 res is here:
http://s8.org/gargoyles/archives/wallpaper/gargoyles_logo_color_1024.jpg

There are .ZIPs in that wallpapers folder that contain BITMAP versions of that logo in various resolutions.

Now... anyone care to find the "official" logo colors and alter a copy of the Illustrator file with the correct coloring? If you do so (or make any other fixes to the logo) please e-mail me a copy of it so it can be shared with others.

Gathering Report, 2003

Thursday:

Did not sleep enough at all. Got a ride to Logan Airport to pick up Jamie, Lexy's Maid of Honor from the wedding. Lexy and I grab an extremely early commuter rail train into Boston. We made our way from the Red Line to the Orange Line to the Blue Line to the airport shuttle and eventually to Terminal E. Man, that place looks sorry. I hope they finish the renovations soon.

One thing I hate about this place is that whoever is in charge of keeping the flight information current on those electronic displays is a hack. They are never up to date. Despite this, we manage to retrieve Jamie and her luggage.

Friday:

Joy. Friday morning the alarm goes off at around 2 A.M. We catch a ride with my Aunt Christine as she heads in to Boston to open up place she works at up for the Breakfast rush. We haul ourselves into South Station and kick around for about an hour until our train is ready to head off to New York.

Man, now I'm kicking myself that I didn't bring my portable PSOne module with me. Last time I took Amtrak, it was to Chicago on the Lake Shore Limited and they didn't have electrical plug-ins. Apparently the trains that go down to Washington D.C. - do - have them. Well, there goes 4 hours of my life in a feeble attempt to sleep.

This is first time I've taken Amtrak to NYC since 1998 when I went for the "Magic: The Gathering" ProTour. I stayed at the Hotel Pennsylvania that time too. I remember it as a cramped dive of a place. I managed to exit Penn Station incorrectly again and we wind up on the completely wrong side of MSG, circling the block in the longest possible fashion before hitting the hotel. I - hate - playing the clueless tourist.

We get to the hotel and two things stand out almost immediately. The first is that the hotel surfaces (floor, ceiling, walls) have been remodeled well. The second is that the hotel services (check in, personel, etc.) have been remodeled poorly. My reservations are screwed up, several members of the staff are rude, and the room I got shoved in was as cramped as I remembered it - if not more so.

Still, the familiar faces make everything worthwhile. After the mandatory "Who's on first" routine, the hotel staff finally lets the Con Staff set up their registration table and get things moving.

Lexy, Jamie, and I stick to the usual routine and make Thom our mugging victim of choice, and then stick around for the joint Thom / Greg Voice Acting panel. Thom's got a new tattoo on his leg, but one of his beautiful dogs finally passed away after a long life.

Those who get the chance to talk to Thom can't help but discover how deeply he cares for animals, especially his dogs. Lexy is that way about her cats. I was very impressed that he managed to make it to the Gathering and be with everyone only a couple of days after such an emotional shock. Still, everyone was very supportive and friendly with Thom, so it was probably good for him as well.

Opening cerimonies is a blast, as usual. I can't say I ever get tired of the spin-offs, pitches, and stories Greg tells. He's an excellent story-teller, no questions about it.

In the down times I get to hang out a bit and catch up with people I haven't seen in a year. I run a few errands here and there for the Security Staff to help keep things greased as the Staff gets a handle on the Con. I like feeling useful when I'm on vacation.

Hudson's rant was certainly amusing. The "Blue Mug-a-Guest" panel was certainly engaging. Some of the questions were insightful. Some of the questions were embarassingly lewd. The fandom is full of all kinds. Greg and Thom took everything in stride. Actually, the only person capable of really rattling Greg at all was Thom.

I also got some rewarding insight from Greg that he was interested in seeing if Gargoyles could be brought back as a comic book or visual novel under his writing. Greg certainly has a qualified background in comic books and Gargoyles.

The panel went on until around 2 A.M. before building security informed us that the room needed to be closed for the night.

Saturday:

Well, I got up well ahead of Lexy and Jamie and roamed the Cosome way to wind up working with Security on one thing or another. We had one con-goer who was stricken with a crippling migraine that the security staff managed to handle well. For my part, my solution to an inability to find cold water for a compress was to loot one of the rooms for an ice-water pitcher and then proceed to carry it around for like half an hour. Ah well, hanging out with Chris and Hudson and the security crew is never boring, I'll give it that.

Gathering security went well, and we apparently had no property theft or losses on the grounds of the convention. Unfortunately, two con-goers had their wallets stolen by a daring daylight robber. Thankfully, it was not an armed robbery and no one was hurt, but it just goes to illustrate the dangers of having your possessions unsecured in a dense urban area like New York. One "Yoink!" and your stuff is gone.

I got to help set up and view the bulk of the 3x3 Eyes / Roughnecks presentation by Greg that afternoon as well. I - DID - however, miss the Victor Cook + Greg presentation about series development, including their project sneak-peek. Curses, foiled again!

Minor crisis ensued when the Hotel Staff wanted to set up for the Banquet in during the Radio Show. I ran around like a mook until I found Aaron and sacrificed his poor, overworked self to the Hotel Staff. Aaron and the rest of the Con Staff trouble shot that situation quickly once they were alerted.

Saturday is the day when the Banquet is traditionally held. It really is a great time. Lexy wound up at Greg's table, Jamie at Thom's, and I was assigned to a table with Michele Nichols (voice of Diane Maza, actress who played Lt. Uhura on Star Trek, and a recently published science-fiction author). I have to say, Michele has an amazingly warm presence with people, exceptional conversational skills at the dinner table, and amazing taste in clothing and accessories.

Got a nifty Gargoyles hooded sweatshirt for attending the Banquet too. Stylish.

I skipped Rocky Horror and just nosed around the Con Suite and then crashed.

Sunday:

This was going to be a busy day indeed. First I took Lexy to the Auction. By some miracle, I didn't have to spend any money this year. Thank goodness Thom didn't actually action off his boxer shorts like he'd threatened. Lexy got a few autographs and we viewed some art. Then came closing cerimonies. That's always kind of bitter-sweet.

Post-Gathering presented an oportunity to get an early start on general tourism. Jamie had a moral imperative to sees Time Square. We walked all the way up 6th Avenue to see it. We saw all manner of the most outraegous buildings to be raised on God's green Earth. Jamie got to run around the Virgin Megastore. Lexy got a sketch-portrait done by a very pleasant Chinese gentleman.

While waiting on Lexy's drawing, I got to observe an interesting take on the 3-card-monty scam, and watch how the whole block pretty much operated as a cover for the grifters. It was an nicely run 5-person scam with no real slight-of-hand involved. Got to give them credit. However, were I the kind of person managing such a racket, I'd try to select a more diverse-looking crew of accomplices, and make at least a few of them look more like the clueless tourists I was trying to sucker.

Monday:

Monday was tourist day and packing day. We went out one two journeys. The first was near the Lower East Side. We spent a couple of hours buying various trinkets, toys, and baubles in Chinatown. The place is a little crowded and rough, but the people are very friendly to the tourists. We also stopped by the fringed of SoHo so the girls could do some shopping before heading to Little Italy for lunch / dinner. We ate at DeNico's, and I have to tell you that the food was something else.

With an Italian grandmother and an Italian father who likes to cook, I'm not easily impressed by Italian food. Sure, being peasants from Milan doesn't exactly give my family any insight to high-profile dishes, but it tends to make Grandma and Dad more critical of Italian. They passed that on to me by taking me to Boston's North End so often as a kid. Anyway, I digress. DeNico's impressed the heck out of me. The service was excellent, the waiter was everything you could have asked for, and the food was absolutely incredible and not outrageously priced. I think anyone who enjoys food owes it to themselves to visit this place at least once in a lifetime. Oh, and save room for dessert. The menu for dessert may only be 4 or 5 items, but each one is exquisit and the portions are huge for a dessert, in my opinion.

Hmmmm ... Tar Tufo

We dropped off the burden of the packages that females inevitable find themselves purchasing in the lower part of Manhattan and went out again. This time, we went to Downtown and gawked over there. We saw the lower side of Broadway where they hold the parades, the Hudson River, the Jersey Shore, and view Staten Island and the Statue of Liberty from afar (we weren't in time for a ferry out there, maybe next time).

A few sites weren't as enjoyable, but still necessary for me. Having worked for a Financial company for 3 years now, I couldn't help but see Wall Street. We also went to see Ground Zero. I'm not quite sure how to describe that experience. I do recall a small part of me feeling quite cowardly and self-deceptive about not having visited before they santized the area.

At any rate, much walking and shopping and picture-taking was had by all. Nothing was lost or stolen. I even managed to successfully navigate the subway all three times. I was called upon to do so. NYC transit is a LOT more complex and intimidating than Boston, but trains are still trains. I'm just glad I didn't have to juggle busses.

Tuesday:

We packed it in and hauled ourselves back to Boston on Amtrak. I got desparate for something to do on the train and started reading the Harry Potter series against my better judgment. I finished the first two books in roughly 4 hours. They were entertaining and I think I'll pass them on to my oldest nephew now that he's almost skilled enough at reading to handle them. They kind of remind me of the old Hardy Boys novels I read back in elementary school.

Alright, report's over. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Ah, back from NYC. What a trip.

I'll have to put together a semi-detailed report if I get the free time.

Anyway, on the notion of Web-wings, I hardly think them going extinct is a substantial threat. Heck, they've - Cloned - Lexington and created Mutate gargoyles. I'm sure DNA samples will suffice down the road if the genetic diversity of the Gargoyle race was actually threatened. There is no need for Lexington to reproduce in the traditional fashion.

As for the orientation question, Brentwood is already distinct from Lexington in subtle ways already - like pigmentation. There isn't a geneticist in the real world today who could state that an imperfect genetic replication process would certainly duplicate an individual's sexual orientation.

Personally, I've met a lot of different people from the homosexual, bisexual, and heterosexual groupings. While I find it hard to believe that there is a "nuture recipe" for programming a child to one sexual orientation or another, I think it is indisputable fact that sexual preferences are shaped significantly by experiences on a psychological level.

That said, in the likely event that sexual orientation has a genetic root to it (nevermind the possibility of metaphysical influences) its manifestation is distinctly guided by life experience. Many people I've met have had dispositions towards both sexes, but cultivated one and eschewed the other based upon their life experiences.

So, in my long-winded sort of way, what I've saying is that any of the Clones, even if they were - perfect - genetic clones of the Manhattan Clan, could not be assured to have the same - manifest - sexual preferences as their Manhattan Clan counterparts. The psychology of sexuality is both physically AND psychologically driven - and observations of separated identical twins (genetically identical) indicates strongly that the psyche is not replicable via genetic manipulation.

Alright, that was pretty darn long-winded. Probably should get back to that report.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Gathering this year. You made it a great time.

Anyway, if I don't make like claw and go silent I'll never get back to working on it :)

Jimmy - <But the point still remains that their minds were screwed around with.> To be truthfull, David Xanatos messed with Thailog's mind to give him an education. <I seem to remember Thailog saying something about Sevarius manipulating them so they wouldn't question orders.> That's the same way David Xanatos gave Thailog Xanatos's slant on the world. <So the fact that they have been altered from the original still shows that the nature vs. nurture debate can be sidestepped if Greg chose.> Well, Thailog (and the rest of the clones) are looked at when it comes to deciding nature vs norture issues regarding gargoyles.

Since the next Gathering is in Canada, the theme should be "Queen Florence Island," or something along those lines.

And yet I wonder... do Gargoyles play hockey?

Hey folks. I figured I would stick my head in here and say hello since I was ordered to by some of the friends I made while at Gathering (Trimm, Robert, etc.). This room certainly seems a tad bit more on-topic than the TGS CR, where I've been posting all of this time.

So...hola ;) I may post pics of Gathering on my website later, if they develop adequately.

Just got back from the Gathering (or as the hotel spelled it, "Garthering"). Had a good time and hope to return in
'04 in beautiful Canada. Note: I think the new mascot should named "Canuck".

Going to try hang around here more so I some idea who everybody is next year. As well as memorize all seventy-eight episodes like everyone else seems to have.

The Gathering...well, my goodness. What a weekend. Here and there, I managed to steal just a few moments to myself in my room, listening to jazz on the CD player as I looked out the window over late-night Manhattan. And take it from this stay-at-home mom of a three-year-old: Being able to wear nice clothing and makeup for three days straight was a rare treat indeed.

And this was just the background stuff.

I'll readily admit that I didn't get nearly as much NYC-related activity accomplished as I had planned. For that matter, I got much less *eating and sleeping* accomplished than I had planned, mainly because I continually found myself in situations where, if I couldn't stop talking, I couldn't stop listening.

Upon my arrival, I sought food, because I knew I wouldn't take any time out to eat once I started wandering around the Gathering sites and meeting people. Upon the recommendation of one of the flight attendants on the way from Chicago, I hit the salad bar at Macy's for something quick and good, accompanied by Sarah the Great, with whom I began chatting in the elevator. I returned with her and went to the art room, where I ran into some rotten kid named Dylan Blacquière, and my writer's-retreat weekend was off to the races.

For me, the ability to talk out loud about the extent of my fascination with and affection for a cartoon series, of all things, was special enough, but the ability to do so with a cadre of talented writers, including Greg Weisman himself, was what made this weekend well worth its cost and more --*so* much more.

It was partly because I was one time zone removed from mine, but the hours of the days got completely away from me. The time flew by as the little group of us sat around the table for the Othercon round robin, laughing and spinning tales and exercising the naughty-story-telling muscles in our brains. Then it was time for the "Erotica 101" panel with Princess and Mooncat (prefaced delightfully by a long-delayed face-to-face meeting with Allaine), which was every bit the erudite discussion I expected it to be. And I'm not being facetious; good smut writing is a surprisingly intellect-intensive endeavor. What this all meant, however, was that we were late getting into Greg and Thom's late-night (read: blue) panel. We arrived in plenty of time, however, for Greg's revelation regarding Lexington's sexual orientation (I am among those who were not surprised by this tidbit).

More importantly in my view, this was only my second opportunity to hear Mr. Weisman talk first-hand about "Gargoyles" (the first being the opening ceremonies), and the first time I heard him speak in such depth about the series. No questions or responses of any kind came to my mind; I was simply content to listen to this bright, imaginative, personable individual talk for as long as he wanted, and, when he was finished, to wish he'd say more.

The character-development panel that I shared the following morning with Dylan, Allaine, and Patrick Toman was a sheer joy. What a pleasure it was to participate in the discussion and to listen not only to these outstandingly talented gentlemen but to the attendees as well, who helped in equal measure to make the session successful -- and to all of whom I send out a special thanks for being there.

I wanted to pick up something for my son while I was in Manhattan, so it was back to Macy's with me after the panel. As usual, the time got away from me, which meant that I was late for Dylan et al.'s crossover-universes panel. (Unfortunately, this also meant that I missed Greg W's panel on animation writing altogether, which I regretted at the time and now, after subsequently having had an opportunity to talk writing with him, out-and-out breaks my heart in retrospect. However, going into the convention, I knew and accepted the fact that schedule conflicts came with the territory. Life goes on.)

Next on the docket was a thoroughly enjoyable chat with Kathy Pogge (and others who congregated in the hall) that grew out of her and Patrick's "Am I Blue?" Othercon writing exercise. The discussion group that formed out in the hall became one of the day's highlights; it's that kind of spontaneous give-and-take that makes an assembly of a diverse and bright group like this the treasure it is.

At this point it became abundantly clear to me that the only way I'd be at all functional that evening was to retreat to my room and get a little shut-eye. Naturally, I overslept, and was late getting to the banquet (which I had to leave early after just a light nosh because I was having dinner with a friend). I nonetheless had another pleasant discussion, this one with a girl named Sylvia and her mother (whose name I believe was Anne; forgive my poor memory).

I had to leave just as the Q&A was beginning. That was the downside. The upside was that I went from there down to the lobby to meet up with a childhood friend of mine who lives in Manhattan and works as an actress when she can, and for a caterer when she must. We hadn't seen each other in a while and had a great deal to get caught up on, but the first issue at hand, of course, was the reason I was in Manhattan to begin with. As we were walking over to the next block to get a taxi to Grand Central Station and its wondrous old Oyster Bar restaurant, I pulled my convention badge out of my purse and showed it to her. "Welcome to my secret life," I began. It took me a good half hour simply to explain the plot of "Awakening" to her (and I'm sure that the people at the table next to us were thoroughly amused listening to me explaining a medieval/fantasy action/adventure soap opera as well). By the time I was finished, however, she was enthralled, and was determined to pick up a copy of the DVD as soon as it comes out next year.

As an aside, as we walked back out of the station building, I pointed up to the top of the Chrysler Building and explained to her how the silver falcons on the corners figured into the eponymous episode the rest of us know and love. She was duly impressed.

From there we went to one of Manhattan's best -- and best-kept -- secrets: a cozy gentlemen's-club-style bar in the meeting room of what used to be the downtown pied-à-terre of a wealthy businessman around the turn of the century, now restored as an elegant, dark, intimate cocktail lounge. I gave my pals at the Gathering all the details about it, but here in the online version of my Gathering journal, its name and location shall remain secret. (Watch for it to be written into at least one of my future stories, in equally anonymous fashion.) We listened to the jazz combo jamming over in the corner of the room and toasted the evening with -- what else? -- a lovely single-malt scotch. Then we figured we should call it a night, so that she could go home and get some sleep after an already hectic weekend for her, and so that I'd be able to squeeze in a little more conversation with my writer pals at the hotel. This is essentially what happened, except that my one-on-one conversation with Dylan was moved across the street to a late-night saloon. After this, conversation with him and Mandolin back at the hotel outside the banquet room, and yet more conversation in MC and Princess's room, it was time to call it quits and get a few more hours of sleep.

On Sunday morning I was playing catch-up from the moment I woke up, but I did make it to the art room in time to bid on (and win) a couple of delightful pieces. Most importantly, though, I finally found an opportunity to introduce myself to Greg Weisman. He proceeded to regale me by discussing the mechanics of fiction writing with me for what I fear was a rather immodest amount of time. Next time I'd better take my wristwatch off and put it on the table in front of me; this is someone whose brain I could pick for hours if no one grabs me by the shoulder and shakes me back into the real world.

And speaking of squaring things, following the inevitable and all-too-soon farewells after the closing ceremonies, there remained one last thing for me to do before I left New York. I boarded the E train, direction Brooklyn, and visited the World Trade Center site -- the epicenter of a number of changes in my life, including my involvement in the "Gargoyles" universe. Probably because I was simply numb at that point, I remained surprisingly calm while I surveyed the gaping hole in the ground, still littered with sizable piles of rubble and adorned starkly by a plain concrete monument featuring the famous salvaged broken girders forming a nearly perfectly symmetrical cross. When I finally turned away and headed back to the subway stop, I came away with feelings of closure and completeness -- and of things having come full circle.

Yet, along with this sense of closure I also came away from New York with a sense of having made a new beginning. This weekend's experience did much to reinforce my decision to focus on writing at this stage in my life (as much as I'm able to do so while focusing more immediately on such things as keeping my three-year-old healthy and happy and off the roof), and I have my fellow Gathering attendees to thank for this. To everyone on the Gathering staff, please know that I am aware that this glorious weekend was there for my enjoyment because of all the hard work you all put into this event, and I'm grateful. Sarah the Great, I enjoyed our conversation very much, and I'm delighted to have met you first off at the convention. Spacebabie, Aaron, Alex/Orion, Mara, Mandolin, Greg Bishansky, Sarah Berkeley, Lynati, Lain, Sylvia and Anne, Patrick, Kathy, Leo, Diamond Debbie, Chyna Rose, Stephen, and so many others who made me feel welcome and whose monikers I shamefully cannot recall at the moment, it was truly a pleasure. BiZZ, you're a great guy and a real trooper for coming all that way just for the weekend. Hope you're over the jet lag by now. Princess, you're a delight to chat with; I'm so glad I had this opportunity to meet you. I hope you and Mooncat had a great time during your extra days in the Big Apple. Speaking of whom, MC, you're a doll, pure and simple. I'm so lucky to have a writer pal like you, and shame on me for not saying that often enough. Allaine, there wasn't a crapload of snow on the ground this time around. How 'bout that? You're every bit as engaging as you sounded over the phone on that spectacularly loused-up weekend in Philly. Meeting you face-to-face was worth the wait. Dylan, my "nephew," I said it all in the banquet room by saying nothing. Words fail me -- and anyone who's seen the length of my stories knows that doesn't happen very often. You're a good kid, you'll go far, and I'm proud to say that I knew you when. And if you don't show up in Montreal, I'll go find you and kick your rump.

Finally, I know you probably won't see this, but Greg, despite what you said to me, we're still not square. My column in the ledger is still showing an awful lot of red ink, and there's more and more of it with every story I write. The paltry phrase of "thank you" does a lousy job of covering it.

***

(With this, Ellen shuts down the computer for the night, turns out the light, and heads off to bed, still wondering how much she'd have to bribe Disney to get that production scene of downtown Manhattan at night framed over her fireplace in her living room...)

I'm away from the CR for a week and what happens? Greg drops a bombshell on us. Jeez. I never expected it. I thought if one garg was gay it would be Lex, but in our puritanical society I doubted that it would ever find its way into a cartoon (South Park, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and the Ambiguously Gay Duo aside.)

Nature vs. Nurture> That's a really good point Matt. I don't see Greg carrying it anywhere though since he doesn't seem like he has an opinion on it himself. Besides, Brentwood isn't exactly mentally the same as Lex. He is, basically, a mentally retarded version of Lex, so his genetics could have manifested differently as well as a result of his development in a testube.

Well, we're home from the Gathering! A day later than planned, but we're home.

To explain the lateness. Whitbourne, Lurking Fish and myself headed out from New York around 11:45 am on Monday. Thankfully got safely out of the city, stopped for lunch(since Lurking Fish & Myself hadn't eaten yet)-so a stop at Appleby's(SP), a full tank of gas for the car and we're off...or so we thought. Just as we got back on the highway, we started to experience electrical problems..car shook a bit so we pulled over. A quick phone call and we had police and a towing service there within about an hour. Hoping it was just the battery...my own suspicions lead me to beleive it was the alternator(for those who don't know-it's the generator that provides electrical power to the car when it's running and charges the battery..without it your car runs right off the battery and thus-won't get you very far.)-which indeed was the problem. So, we all pile in to the cab of the tow truck(with 2 large people and 2 small people, it was not a comfortable ride, but we survived). We dropped the car off, which they wouldn't be able to fix until the morning-which meant we got to stay overnight in Kenvil, New Jersey for the night. We got ourselves a rather grubby(but cheap) motel room for the night-with what sounded like a water fall in the bathroom(which was almost the case since the roof was leaking over the toilet). We took off to investigate this small town, got something to eat - and attempted to contact loved ones to let them know where we were(not an easy task, as poor Whitbourne will attest to^_~). As the evening progressed(a night which mainly involved watching Cartoon network-an unfamiliar experience to us Canadian folk), and we talked. You might have thought we had been drinking by the laughing we did all evening, but no alcohol was involved, we were just tired and punchy-so everything was funny(By The Way, watch out for a cominc of this story coming soon I'm told).

Thankfully, Today went better. We got up early, showered in the bathroom from hell(and I thankfully survived the shower curtain of death!), picked up the car and were off by 9am...likely never to visit Kenvil, New Jersey again...all the same-some pretty nice people there over all). An 8 hour drive later and we dropped LF at the bus station, Whit stayed at my place to have a bite and he's on his way back to Kingston as I type.

As for the gathering, I enjoyed myself-likely more than I have 2001 and 1998...mainly because I got more of an opportunity to socialze with online friends..which is really why I go. I actually got to talk to Greg Weisman for the first time, mainly because I never had the nerve to go up and say anything to him. I actually got to hang out with him, IRC GOliath and a few others at Coney Island on Sunday night. I think I enjoyed the little quiet time we had strolling along on the boardwalk by the beach, just the small group of us. I'm certainly not nearly as eloquent as Greg and the rest of those with us were, so I didn't much partake in the conversation...I just enjoyed the chance to be part of it. Now, if I could only have gotten the courage to go talk to Thom *sigh*. Maybe next year.

Wanted to say hi and thanks to all those of you who came up and talked to me this year. I have such a problem seeing in bright situations, but in dim ones - like the hotel lobby or even the banquet room, I was rather lost to say the least. A special thanks to IRC Goliath and Whitbourne-who were basically my guardian angels the entire weekend, making sure I didn't get myself lost in NY-thanks guys:o) Also Thanks to Greg Weisman-who not only was a super guest as always, but showed true clan leadership in looking out for us all on the Coney Island trip. Thanks Greg ^_^. BTW-I will have a Banana Splits(Yes they had an album) and Best of War CD to torment you with next year-so watch out*evil grin*

I know there's alot more to tell, but I'm sure the rest of you attendees can do a much more creative and interesting job than I.

Anyway, if the fates be good to us, hope to see you all in Montreal in 2004.

Lex's Wing Structure> i've always had a fondness for Lex's wings partially cuz they are so cool, partially cuz they are so rare. i also worried that maybe that they were so rare that they might not last long among the future rookeries so i asked Greg once if besides Lex and Brentwood any other gargoyles in the world had Lex's wings and he said yes. not sure where it is in the archives, but anyone who is curious feel free to find it and post it here for us. my best guess is that there are others on Avalon. i don't know if this would be wing type among other clans, but i once drew an English gargoyle with wings similiar to Lex's. kinda went for a lion-type with flying squirrel wings, ended up looking like a flying squirrel... :)
anyway, even if none of the gargs having these wings have kids, the wings could (possibly) pop up in recessive genes from other gargs or mutate to exist again. for instance, where did Gabriel get his chin horns? recessive genes probably. where did he get his wings? from a mutation of his parents wing types.
i wouldn't be too worried about those wings.

now that i come to think about it, i wonder if Lex's clone would be gay too. to be honest i have no idea if its a nature or nuture thing or both so it'd be interesting to see how his clone turns out...

Sorry for the double post, but one other thing.

Those infamous "wacky moon phases" are at it again in "Long Way Till Morning". At Castle Wyvern in the 984 flashback, the moon is a crescent moon, but when Hudson, Goliath, and Demona arrive at the Archmage's cave, it's a full moon. I'm not going to even try to figure out a rational explanation for that astronomical phenomenon.

I don't think that Lexington's style of wings is in danger of extinction just yet. After all, there's always Brentwood. And it's possible that one or two of the Avalon gargoyles have his wing-style as well.

(But I don't think that he'd be likely to mate with a female gargoyle just to pass the wings on to future generations. Gargoyles mate for life, remember.)

Saw my tape of "Long Way Till Morning" today. A very good one, especially in its portrayal of Hudson. He's really a sympathetic character here, especially in his grief and even guilt over having failed to stop the Archmage from poisoning Prince Malcolm. He also, despite his fear that he's over the hill, makes a truly stalwart stand against Demona and holds her off long enough for the sun to come up and heal Goliath.

It also has some great imagery here, especially the shot of Demona entering the graveyard in the distance and of her looming up behind the stone angel. (She shows again her tendency to let her anger get the better of her reason when she starts using her laser rifle as a club rather than opening fire on Hudson.)

I wonder how many people expected the Archmage to return. Yes, he was a pretty cliched evil sorcerer, but he was a cliched evil sorcerer voiced by David Warner, which makes a big difference.

(I know that, the first time I saw this episode, I thought that Prince Malcolm would die from the Archmage's poison.)

And we get an indication that Malcolm wasn't quite as bright as Hudson. Hudson correctly points out that using gargoyles as bogeymen to scare a young Princess Katharine isn't a good idea; Malcolm shrugs it off, but events ten years later will show that Hudson was right. Hudson also correctly realizes that the Archmage is going to return in spite of his banishment. (Given how Prince Malcolm does appear a bit on the slow side, it's not so surprising that the Archmage was able to keep him duped about his true nature for 13 years.)

Lex? That's right out of left field. BUt it surprises me that Greg would do that because he's making a genetic type of wing structure become extinctm, assuming that the Guatamala Gargs don't have that type, and same with the London Gargoyles. Lex won't be infusing his genes into the population, so they loose those genes for his wing type.

But then again there are several other clans we don't know about. HMMM...

Hi all you people! I'm new to this room, although I have stoped by and read things now and then (I post on in TGS too).

All things considered, I did have a lot of fun at the gathering. I feel special because Greg drew me a picture (of exactly what, I can't tell you though, you'd have to see it youself to try and figure of what it is!).

I'm very glad that Ask greg is back open! I have a few minor questions I was too chicken to ask at the Gathering, plus a LONG ramble (that's only about a page and a half long, single spaced, and I'm not 100% done). I'm a little chicken to post that one, mostly because I don't want to add more clutter to the the 18 month old list of questins already there. Should I go for it anyway?

Howdy folks. Finished my 4th dvd on Sunday. Now, I have a dilemma (well, not really....I've already decided which way I'm going to go, just wanted your opinions). My next dvd will start the second season of Gargoyles. I have just about all of it in edited versions. I have a handful of unedited versions, but these have very noticable differences in quality. My choice is, do I redo the edited versions and get better quality on my dvd, or, do I redo the unedited and have everything in the episode, but let the quality suffer? Which would you do?

Also, I'm at a loss as to what image I'm going to use for the menu on this dvd. The other 4, I already had one in mind. This one, I can't think of anything that really stands out. The 5th dvd will have Reawakening, Leader of the Pack, and Metamorphosis on it. I like to take images from an episode on that dvd for the menu. Any suggestions?

Matt - Well, some thought-provoking questions would be great if they were asked. Yea, I hope a flood doesn't show up all at once at Ask Greg.

Yea, Todd, please delete any questions where the answers can be found by looking in FAQ or searching the Ask Greg archive.

Yeah,I don't think ASK GREG can afford another flood of questions that breaks the submission guidelines.

About Lex, really interested in what Greg has to say if he rambles on the 7th. One thing I got to say about Greg Weisman,he's not afraid to bring up issues that nobody wants to talk about.

yikes! the Ask Greg feature is up again!!! that really bothers me cuz i had hoped we'd have some new system in place AND Greg would be way more caught up when we opened it... anyone know why it was reopened?

please everyone, listen to Todd, don't abuse Ask Greg! lets try to ask as few questions as possible!!! if Greg catches up things will be better...

oh, and Todd, show NO mercy to bad questions. delete them without a thought, even if they are mine! :)

*sigh* I miss everyone already. The con was wonderful but not for nothing the best single moment was standing on the beach of Coney Island. There are a few people out there who know why. I am greatly looking forward to next year.

G2004 > Pre-registration has already begun for next year's Gathering in August, and it will be held in Montreal.

I doubt that Lexington's significant other will be a human, actually, simply because Greg has already mentioned wanting to keep Goliath and Elisa's situation unique. (Granted, Greg also would be making it look as if Lexington and the other guy were just good friends in order to have it show up in an animated series whose immediate target audience would be kids, but still, I seriously doubt that he'd want a second gargoyle-human relationship in the present day of the series, and especially not one for another of the regulars.)

So Lexington will be most likely paired either with another gargoyle of the same leanings, or just possibly with one of the Oberati (although since they're all on Avalon except for Puck - and since Greg said that we haven't met Lex's significant other yet, it definitely isn't Owen/Puck - I doubt that it's the latter).

I wonder how much of this Greg will ramble on when he returns next week.

To All Of Those Back From The Gathering - Hope you all had a safe and fun time, and I can't wait to hear all the stories and see all the pictures! I love looking at all the different costumes that people go in. ;)

The Gathering Of 2004 - I heard somewhere that the next Gathering would be held in Canada, does anyone have any info as to if this is true or false?

Lexington's Orientation - Well, I can't really say that I knew it all along, but I did see some traits here and there that made me wonder. Overall, I'm surprised that Greg told us, I mean, we're still waiting to hear what Titania whispered in Fox's ear! By the way, did Greg ever tell us or is he still holding the sword of suspense over our heads? ;)

Websites - For years now I have been gathering all things gargoyle, so that someday I could make my own Gargoyles website. The only problem is I don't really know how to go about doing it. I would like to create a site with a chat room, a message board, thumbnails to enlarge pictures, various links to different websites, etc..., and I would like to have it on a free server, only I don't know if any free servers offer those things. I feel kind of bad being a fan and not having my own fan website. :( So, if any of you know a free server that has these things or a good place to start on a webpage, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

****With a loud CRACK! Blaise Apparates in the Room.**** Spent most of my free hours last week reading the fifth Harry Potter book.

TO ALL WHO WENT TO THE GATHERING> Welcome back and hope you've had a good time! Don't skimp on any tidbits now (in addition to the first one).

LEXINGTON'S ORIENTATION> ...Can't say whether I expected it or not. Most likely not, just 'cause it never occurred to me something like this would come along in an afternoon animated show. Of course, this is a development that earns some respect in my eyes.
However, my first thought was, "Gee, I wonder how all of Lex's female fans are gonna take that news?" And how about all those fanfics, where he winds up with a literal "girlfriend," eh? That's definitely not gonna happen now!
Actually, I guess maybe this explains for me why nobody seemed to consider Lex a real candidate for Angela's boyfriend....
I am curious, though, as to how long Greg has known this about Lexington. Did he find out during the run of the show, or sometime in the nine years afterward?

ASK GREG> Well, now that the "Ask" function is back up, and it's summer...that means that GREG NO LONGER HAS A REASON TO NOT POST EPISODE RAMBLES, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! YOu ARE AT OUR MERCY, GREG!!!
[ahem] I mean, take your time. ;-))

Well, I may not have been able to make it to the Gathering...but my sister and brother-in-law are treating me to Disneyland tomorrow, so not all is lost. I'll check back with you guys later--with folks coming back from the Gathering, things are likely to pick up around here. Until then, farewell. ****Blaise throws a handful of powder into the fireplace, turning the flames emerald green. He then hops into the fire while shouting "Disneyland" and is gone. The fire returns to it's normal color.

With the queue opened up again, I have one thing to say. Do NOT abuse this, people! If I see a whole bunch of frivolous or already-answered questions showing up again - and especially from "Anonymous" - there's most likely going to be a lot of deletions on my part. Let's remember that we do NOT want poor Greg to wind up falling behind again.

Saw my tape of "The Edge" today. Xanatos is a lot of fun here, especially with lines such as "Now if you want to be picky, we won't get anywhere" and "You're taking this much too personally!" Not to mention the big revelation at the end, which surprised me, that the red Steel Clan robot was really Xanatos. I'd thought until then that it was just a more intelligent robot, with a really good AI program.

The Eye of Odin, Travis Marshall, and even Matt (in a way - he'd gotten a brief non-speaking cameo in "Deadly Force") get introduced, and we get our first mention of the Illuminati. At the 2001 Gathering, Michael Reaves revealed what inspired the Illuminati originally; Reaves wanted Matt to be done as a conspiracy nut, so as to make his hunting for the gargoyles more believable (on the grounds, no doubt, that anybody who belives in secret societies running the world behind the scenes is probably also going to believe in living gargoyles). And his thing about the Illuminati in "The Edge" would definitely establish him as one.

Goliath shows again, in the library scene, that he's not just a big dumb brute; he reads Dostoyevsky. I rather liked that scene. It's good to see that he's literate.

Incidentally, I seriously doubt that after September 11 they would ever be able to do that Statue of Liberty battle on an animated series - at least, not one on a weekday afternoon on a regular broadcast channel.

Sorry I haven't stopped by in a long time. Been hanging around the ezboards lately. I got back from my first Gathering last night, and my somewhat starstruck journal, for lack of a personal website or livejournal, is over at Gargoyles X (I figured it was way too long for this page). Let's just say my weekend was nearly beyond words.

Well I didn't finish the major rewrite of ask Greg in time for the Gathering. And there are several interesting things to talk about that we learned at the Gathering... so I've put the form back up to submit questions. I took it down to try and let the queue empty so that I could move over to the new system with an empty queue and not worry about converting the queue (which is a separate file in the current system). But... it didn't empty... it's very big, and there's a lot of questions to ask now. So I shall open it back up and just put together an application that will convert the queue to the new system as well.

I will be posting a gathering diary of sorts for this week's update. I'll do that maybe today but most likely not until Wednesday (and leave it up for 1 1/2 weeks) since I'm currently on an unencrypted wireless network and I'd rather not risk certain passwords and such get out in the open.

Oh, I'm in Las Vegas at another con (which is why I had to leave the Gathering early and miss the Sunday events). I'll be back home Wednesday.

Wingless and IRC Goliath let me get copies of all the pictures they took and I've got them on my machine. Maybe I can talk to them and get a few online here in the next couple weeks.

Thing is, there's over 350 megabytes worth of images there... a lot to sort through.

later.

Hey Guys,

Shauntell, I'm emailing this information too, but since it's been asked before...

The goliath/Thailog volleyball beach drawing in the G2003 calendar was drawn by White. She's a gargoyle fanartist who occasionaly chats in S8 (or GFW moreso now I think?)

The ninth poster today... I kinda get familiar with this board . ;) Hmm, not THAT many statements 'bout Lex being gay... nobody seems to care... well...

NO, the weird sisters don't count, that would be gross, at least they're sisters!!!

I think a lot of guys (especially Broadway ;) ) would be happy if Greg would pick Angela, but then again, I think this topic should be left for the *couhdirtyfanficcough*...
