I spent 26 hours in a car... but I survived my first Gathering <g>. It was great to meet all of you and I had a blast! Hope to do it all again in Vegas next year.

I'll be curious to see everyone's con journals in the next few weeks. I'd love to see some of the pictures that were taken, too. I'm hoping to put mine up as soon as I get film developed.

Thanks to everyone for being so friendly :) I've been trying to get to one of these for years now, and I'm thrilled I finally made it.

Well, I hope those that were fortunate to be able to attend are enjoying everything. I just hope G2006 is within driving distance from Memphis so I'll actually be able to attend. I just hope someone uploads pictures and posts the URL here so those of us that couldn't attend can atleast see what happened.

Matt: Keith appeared early afternoon today. Unfortunately I don't know if your program book was given to him, as he only did signings at the end of the Closing Ceremonies and I was gone by then.

I left my program behind when I left the Gathering Saturday around 6 PM so I could have it signed by Keith David. My address is on the back cover. I'd really appreciate if who-ever has it could return it to that address.

Battle Beast: Brigitee *might* actually be shooting a project right now. At the mug-a-guest panel Today, Greg said she's in Toronto on a project right now.

One of the extras on the DVDs will be a documentary currently being shot at this year's con.

Who'd have thought that December 7 would come to have a positive meaning someday (at least, from the point of view of "Gargoyles" fans)?

I got home about 90 minutes ago from the first day of The Gathering of Gargoyles, held in town here this year.

Unfortunately I had to leave while Greg was in the midst of his speech at the Opening Ceremonies; the curse of registering a specific time for Paratransit. Oh well...

The only pity: Brigette Bako who performed the voice of Goliath's daughter Angela can't be here because of a film shoot. I was one of her friends in college here a lifetime ago... I would have loved to say hi.

DPH - Given that in the end, Nokkar's memory-cleansing process didn't prevent Elisa from saving Goliath's life, I suspect that Demona's "reversion" to Goliath's "Angel of the Night" would be very short-lived indeed.

(Though it'd be really delicious if Nokkar erased her memory in the daytime and she was still amnesiac when the sun went down....)

Actually, Todd, the biggest thing I've thought of is if Demona was exposed to Nokkar's mind-cleansing process. Would that bring back Goliath's angel in the night for a short period of time?

It's the first day of the Gathering in Montreal, and I hope that everyone there is having a great time. I imagine that there'll be quite a few stories to tell when they return next week. (I wonder if there'll even be any "big surprise revelations" like last year's revelation about Lexington.)

Although I didn't go to the Gathering (the mere fact that I'm posting to the comment room now indicates that), I still got to do something "Gargoyles"-related by watching my tape of "Shadows of the Past". A great episode, too.

If you look closely, you can see a lizard on a rock near the former site of Castle Wyvern. In real life, are there that many lizards in Scotland (especially on the Scottish coasts)? The climate there doesn't strike me as that suitable for cold-blooded reptiles, although I know that there are snakes in Britain (though not in Ireland - and don't thank St. Patrick for that; there were no snakes in Ireland even before he came there).

I've still sometimes thought that it'd be a lot of fun to see Demona being put through the same sort of thing as Goliath was put through by the Captain and Hakon (well, not "fun", exactly, but interesting, certainly). In light of all the suppressed guilt that she feels about the Wyvern Massacre, just imagine how she'd respond to what appeared to be the ghosts of the slaughtered gargoyles converging on her, shouting "Murderer!" at her!

I like Bronx's uneasy response to what's going on as he senses that something's wrong, even howling in distress. Sharp puppy.

I noticed a lot of detail in this episode, as well. Look closely, and you can spot things such as Elisa almost slipping when she's climbing the rocky path up to the former site of Castle Wyvern and steadying herself, or bits of stone being dislodged when Elisa and Angela are trying to pull Goliath up onto the ledge in the cave.

I also like "Demona's" cry of "Join me in the dark" to Goliath (something that the "real Demona" has been figuratively trying to do to him in the modern world, when she's not trying to kill him).

I still find the Captain's repentance, saving Goliath, and ascending a very moving moment. (And I also found Hakon's cry of "Don't leave me here all alone! Not without anyone to hate!" very chilling - and thought it a bit of a pity that they brought him back in "Vendettas". But that's another story.)

Other memorable moments:

Goliath "hallucinating" Elisa and Angela as Hakon and the Captain.

"Demona" producing a mace from her arm.

Goliath unearthing the axe that will later on show up again in "Vendettas" (and which Greg Weisman now wishes was Hakon's mace instead - I wonder if Hakon's mace was the same mace that Demona was using during her "City of Stone" smashing spree, but that seems a little far-fetched, even for the inter-connected Gargoyles Universe).

Elisa's line "Old wounds bleed as brightly as new ones sometimes."

Great start to the Avalon World Tour.

Well, obviously I'm not at the Gathering, so I'm killing a little time looking through the "Ask Greg" posts. We do have one "Will the show come back" question now and the writer also thinks Greg should e-mail him to hear his ideas. :sigh: I did notice the fanfic related question about the First Ammendment. This person either has some weird ideas about the First Ammendment or thinks the lawsuits are going in the other direction. Obviously, if someone such as Todd were to write a story and I were to change a few things and call it my own, the First Ammendment would not help me because I still stole his work. And if it was a case of Greg being concerned about fanfic authors being sued by Disney, there'd still be little First Ammendment argument because the fanfic authors do not own the characters. (The gray area here is the fact that people don't generally make any money from fanfiction, which is part of why most companies don't bother going after them.)

But as Todd was mentioning, there's also a lot of questions and comments about Lexington being gay. Which got me thinking about the idea of gargoyle dating. My guess is that it didn't really exist back in the Middle Ages. One gargoyle decides she likes another gargoyle and, if the feeling's mutual, that's pretty much it. Not to say there wouldn't be cases of indecisiveness or rivalry. But I imagine most gargoyle pairings would go pretty smoothly. an eligible young gargoyle would have known all of his or her potential mates since hatching. So everyone would have a pretty good idea of everybody else's personality. The "getting to know each other" aspect of dating would be unecessary.

So why might dating become part of gargoyle life in more modern times? For one thing, the field of potential mates would be scattered around the globe, at least for the Wyvern clan. Other clans might become interested in meeting gargoyles from other clans (and, to be a little more coldly scientific, diversifying their gene pool). Gargoyles from different clans wouldn't know each other from birth, so there would be a period where the two got a feel for each other and how the relationship might work. Hence, dating.

I think dating would become especially important for gargoyles in non-traditional relationships, like Goliath and Lex. Since they'll both be stepping outside of their cultural norms in the search for love, they'll both probably feel the need to try things out, make sure it's going to work before making a commitment. Lex in particular may have to deal with the question "Do I want to be with this person (used in the generic-race sense) because I'm in love or because I'm scared I won't find anyone else to be with me?" (Incidently, I think this is the question that Brooklyn is failing to ask himself with his crushes.)

That's probably enough for me for today. Oh, and I'd be a bit wary of those cookies, your Slothness. No one's used the table for a while so they're probably way stale. (By which I mean, nice to see you around. :) )

Battle Beast>> There was the time when Edmonton won the Grey Cup. Then, there was the time you went through hoops to root for a hockey team which you normally hate in the Stanley Cup finals: the hockey team with the American playing in the top two lines (top line if I'm not mistaken) rather than the team with the most Canadians on it. ;-)

Man, how you hated to see Canadians win the Cup. It was a little odd. :-P

Also, remember that in most cases, the only reliable camera for determining whether the puck crossed the line is the overhead camera. The other views often place the puck somewhere on a line segment that could be in the goal, could be above the goal line, etc. since the puck can be *above* the ice surface!

DPH - Well, the multiple topics question that you mentioned is no longer at the very top; there are two questions before it now (one of which is mine, incidentally) - but I'm definitely going to be deleting that when I get to it.

The fanfic-related question, unfortunately, while one that is a foolish one, is still technically legitimate; it didn't submit any ideas disguised as questions and stayed on topic throughout. So I'll have to keep it. I'm only authorized to delete illegal questions, not foolish ones.

But at least, there aren't any queries about why the series was cancelled or whether it's coming back. (Quite a few about Lexington being gay, though. At this rate, it'll be attracting even more question than what Titania whispered to Fox.)

Todd - The current one at the top is obviously breaking one of the rules - questions on different topics in the same post. Then there's the stupid one about Greg not reading fanfics. Yes, several stupid questions are still coming through. The GNC has been updated with the news so that might cause a flood again. :-(

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the implementation of quoting previous Ask Greg answers to current questions.

I must confess that I'm still amazed that there wasn't the flood of questions that I was expecting (and fearing) for "Ask Greg" since it was re-opened on August 1; yes, there were several, but not the torrent that I was afraid of, and not one case that I can recall of "Why did the show end?" or "Will it return?" In fact, it usually seems to be only one question per twelve hours. I certainly wasn't expecting that.

(Mind you, once the Gathering's over, we're likely to be getting a deluge of Gathering Diaries - as in, fifty reports in twenty-four hours. Though Gathering Diaries are much better than overasked questions of the "Why did the show end?" variety.)

Todd> No worries mate, I'm still here to enjoy your rambles. And people can still give it a read by doing "last weeks posts" (assuming I'm not the only one who goes back and reads though the week that they missed).
BTW, I'm sorry you won't be making it to Montreal. I've been curious for a while now about what you're like in person, and now I may never know (though perhaps that saves me from the shock of finding out that you look nothing like your avatar of Mr. Pendragon there (call me crazy, but I've associated everyone here with their picture so long, it will be hard to realize that they have a face of their own!)).

Matt> " what am I? the Comment Room janitor? "
No, not the janitor per say, but you sometimes do a nice job as the referee/bouncer/peace maker. But don't make too much of my "clean comment", I just thought I should say something extra even though I had nothing relevant. So, um...ahh...keep those pistons churning...or something...yeah.

Gabriel> you still out there Gabe? Isn't that your name I see on the Gathering guest list, or is it some other Gabriel? If the former I look forward to finally meeting you in a few days! And incidentally, perhaps you can finally get me that delivery we arranged, what was it 2, 3 years ago? That is, if you still have it, no worries if you don't). Whatever the case may be though, have a good one.

Lord Sloth> As for myself (Hi me!), I'll be embarking on this momentous adventure around noon tomorrow and I'm quite happy about this. To all others going as well, I wish you safe journeys and look forward to seeing yall. Even though I'll naturally be representing the entire Kingdom of Slothatopia, there's no need to be coy around me since, for all intents and purposes, I'm just another geeky fanboy who would actually go to one of those conventions celebrating his favorite TV show.

I don't know how many people will be actually reading this this close to the Gathering (I know that Patrick should have already left unless something unexpected came up after his last post, and Wingless is leaving for Montreal tomorrow), but I watched my tape of "Avalon Part Three" today, and thought that I'd give my thoughts on it.

One of the big battles in the series, and a lot of fun to watch. I was hoping that the Sleeping King would be involved, and would be identified as who I thought he would be, and I wasn't disappointed on either count.

This time around, I noticed what appeared to be a couple of architectural gargoyles (as opposed to the living kind) at the bridge leading to Arthur's sleeping place in the Hollow Hill, with a vaguely gargoyle beast look about them.

As viewers of this episode know, Arthur's immediate response to the good guys' hope that he will help them is one of "What is going on here?" While I've known many fans who suggested from this that he's not all that bright, I don't think that the question is so astonishing, when you remember this: everybody involved in the battle for Avalon up to this point (except for the Weird Sisters) hadn't even been born yet when Arthur was taken away to Avalon (542, according to Greg's dating). The Archmage, the Magus, Princess Katharine, Tom, the eggs, Goliath, Elisa, Demona, Macbeth, all were in the future then. Arthur wouldn't know who any of them were. (In fact, when he went to sleep, Oberon hadn't even divorced Titania yet and banished her and the rest of the Third Race from Avalon.) So who can blame Arthur for asking that? (If any of us were to suddenly find ourselves in the year 3500, being asked to help out in a serious piece of trouble going on, I imagine that we'd be feeling equally bewildered.)

There's also been much talk (with a bit of justice) about the fact that, after all the build-up to awakening Arthur, he's "just another one of the good guys". Much of this was inevitable from the story, actually. Goliath is the main character in the series, so he obviously has to do something big, such as defeating the Archmage (and given the Archmage's grudge against Goliath, it makes sense that Goliath would be the one facing him). And since the Magus is going to be the good guy who dies, it's obvious that he has to do something big - and the Weird Sisters are his most appropriate opponent in view of the fact that they're after him for defeating them and turning them into owls a thousand years before. So that means that Arthur has to be pitted against one of the conscripts (i.e., Macbeth), a relatively smaller role. Still, in the same way that the Archmage was Goliath's most logical opponent and the Weird Sisters the Magus's, I believe that Macbeth was the most logical opponent for Arthur: two famous legendary medieval British kings, both extremely famous because of the literature that's been written about them. (And Macbeth had already displayed a strong interest in Arthur and the elements around him in "A Lighthouse in the Sea of Time".)

What may be overlooked is that Arthur does more than defeating Macbeth. He also works out the plan for defending the palace from the Archmage's forces - and working out a strategy for a battle can be just as important as personally defeating the enemy champions. (Note, also, that it's Arthur who picks up on the fact that Demona and Macbeth feel each other's pain, indicating good observation skills on his part.)

Princess Katharine being able to operate Demona's laser cannon just like that is a bit unrealistic (remember, when she lived in the outside world, they still had bows and arrows and hadn't even dreamed of conventional firearms as yet), but it makes for a great scene. (It's a definite case, alongside Demona versus Thailog in "The Reckoning" and Fox versus Oberon in "The Gathering", of "Don't mess with the mama" - and maybe that served as the motivating factor for Katharine to handle an unfamiliar weapon, just as it served as the motivating factor for Fox to finally make use of her halfling powers.)

The Magus and the Weird Sisters have a great battle. (The one bit that jars on me is the Magus's cry of "Mystical Avalon, hear my plea/ Fill me with your energy!" It sounds a little too trite, too "conventional rhyming incantation" of the sort that you'd find in an inferior animated cartoon. On the other hand, the Weird Sisters' cry of "Avalon! Aid your children!" is great.)

Continuing to note the Weird Sisters' words: Selene is the one who gloatingly tells the Archmage about how "No one will survive". Luna is the one who tells the Magus "There is no future for you" - and she speaks the truth, it's clear, by the end of the episode.

My favorite bit of the battle between Goliath and the Archmage is when the Phoenix Gate starts transporting them all over the place. (One interesting touch: when the Archmage loses the Eye of Odin, his beard returns to normal, but his clothes don't.)

The Magus gets a very moving death scene (the most touching bit of all being Goliath's thanking the astonished old man: "But I cursed your clan!" "You saved my children.").

On the subject of the Magus, I've still got to say this: he might have been old by 1995, but he certainly wasn't decrepit. Elisa had trouble keeping up with him all the way to the Hollow Hill.

When Arthur sets off for the outside world, I remember eagerly hoping that we'd see more of him after that, and I got my wish in the episode "Pendragon".

Goliath refuses to bring his clan to Avalon, explaining that gargoyles and humans must learn to make peace or it'll never be safe for gargoyles in the outside world. It strikes me that if the gargoyles are all on Avalon, it might not make that much difference as to how the humans think of them, since the humans wouldn't be able to reach them on Avalon. But they might be forced to leave at some point - and besides, Goliath believes that he has a moral obligation to protect Manhattan; I can't imagine him abandoning it, even for the sake of safety.

And so we see Goliath, Elisa, Angela, and Bronx leaving, with Tom calling after them "Avalon doesn't send you where you want to go! Avalon sends you where you need to be!" I wonder how many people in the audience were expecting a full-fledged World Tour after that remark....

Add another vote for viewing multiple responses at a time, Gorebash. I'm afraid viewing single responses can be a little slow, especially when you are going through tens of them on a 56K modem after a search! (Or worse, when you are going through the categories -- do you know how large they are :-P ;-) ) Patricia's idea sounds cool, if the coding is feasible. DPH - Well, no, but one of the questions which you submitted since "Ask Greg" opened up came dangerously close (in my opinion) to an idea. You posted a number of questions about the war between Oberon and Queen Mab, in the course of which you asked if the war destroyed any human or gargoyle civilizations. That may not be an actual idea, but it's skirting perilously close to one.

Howdy folks!

I've been reading posts everyday, but didn't have anything to add. My website has undergone a massive redesign, and I've moved it to geocities! This will be my web home from now on (at least until next week). I've got pictures and sound bites up right now. Nothing too big, but I am working on it. This weekend, I'm planning on putting my first video on it. This website will NOT be where I put up my music videos, but i can fit this one on there. Please check it out. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

On another note...I was doing a bit of cleaning up my files and came across the comment room from last November where everyone was asked their top 5 reasons that made them like Gargoyles. I had forgotten about that. Very busy week for the room. I did scroll through every post and read a few here and there. Took me 20 minutes! Quite a difference from the slow weeks we've been having here (then again, who am I to talk? I've been lurking!!).

Anyway. Hope all the Gathering attendees have a great time. Perhaps I'll be in attendance next year ^_^

DPH - I hope so as well, but if I find anything that seems like an idea in one of your questions, I'm afraid that I'll have to give it the boot.

*a massive television screen behind Todd turns on, displaying an image of Todd handing one of DPH's questions an old piece of footwear.*

That's not what I meant, and you know it!

Actually, I run at the next size up resolution, 800 by 600 and I use a 19" monitor to boot.

Gore - Another feature request for Ask Greg: ability to search questions by poster.

Todd - Hopefully, none of my newer questions will get deleted.

Hmm, I'm stuck in a loop. I'm trying to get to the page where I view the unanswered questions, but keep getting redirected to the page where you do searches. Help!!

Gore> AG looks great *thumbs up* I'm using IE 5.2 on Mac OSX... fyi :)

I'm agreeing with the multiple entries on one page... maybe an option of how many to show.. 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 75, 100, etc.... with 'all' as the last option?.... Similar idea to the style switcher you've briefly talked about, but selects how many entries on a page the user sees... I know Delphi Forums had this similar deal.. and alot of cgi/php scripts have similar settings :)

Good job :D

Yes... yes it would be. I don't think I can just sit around Dulles for a day.

I'm still waiting for Greg to answer mine! Two years counting...

HURRICANE ALEX!! Couldn't you have waited just a couple days?!?!?

Grrrr, this thing had better follow it's predicted path or else go further east. >:-(

My Flight out of Norfolk is tomorrow morning. It would be a MAJOR inconvenience if they decided to ground all flights.

Although a few of the new questions violate the rules (and will have to be dropped thereby) because they either submit ideas disguised as questions or inquire on multiple topics within a single post, at least we haven't had the flood of over-asked queries of the "Why was the show cancelled?" and "Will it come back?" variety. Let us give thanks for that.

Gore > MS Word calls them "smart quotes." You, me, and anyone else who ever works in HTML calls them annoying.

Attention all who are Gathering-bound. A revised convention schedule of events has just been posted on our web site. A few things have moved around, so if there's a specific event you're planning to attend, be sure to check the schedule. The schedule will also be printed in the program book that will be distributed to all attendees.

There are only 3 more days until The Gathering 2004 in Montreal, Quebec!

Just a quick FYI that some of you may have noticed some of Greg's posts (mostly rambles in which he's copied text straight from Word) would have question marks in random places that it shouldn't. That's because MS Word uses special characters to show openning and closing single and double quotes. I've added a bit of code to translate those characters into the more common quote and doublequote characters so they'll display better for you.

I don't think anyone here is that blind or has a monitor that small. ;) Matter of fact, resolutions smaller than 640x480 hasn't been supported since Windows 95 came out. Besides, most people run at 1024x768 or higher anyways.

Any chance I can get a show of hands of people who have their desktop resolutions set at 640x480 (or lower?!) ?

PATRICK - That would be great, though we'll have to see what Greg Weisman thinks of it.

Watched my tape of "Avalon Part Two" this afternoon.

This episode ("Avalon" in general, in fact) shows how the fact that "Gargoyles" was an animated series (as opposed to, say, a comic book) impacted its plotline. The Archmage's return (which was a crucial element of "Avalon") stems from David Warner, whose superb voicing of the Archmage, with all that hauteur and disdain in his voice, actually made him rise above the cliched evil wizard that he was originally designed as in "Long Way Till Morning". Without David Warner, Greg Weisman might never have thought of bringing the Archmage back to become the "enhanced Archmage". If "Gargoyles" had come out in a medium that didn't involve voice actors, the Archmage would most likely have been a one-shot character.

I still can't help but think that, underneath it all, the Archmage isn't all that bright. It seems to take him forever to figure out the time loop. (Of course, a lot of "Gargoyles" fans have confessed themselves bewildered by it, so we probably shouldn't hold that against him.) Even worse, although he's spent all that time scheming to get "ultimate power" in the form of a combination of the Grimorum, the Eye of Odin, and the Phoenix Gate, he never worked out what he was going to do with it. And he can't even come up with the notion of conquering the world (the obvious goal of an evil wizard that cliched) on his own; his future self has to suggest it to him!

(A thought that I very recently had, related to this. Greg Weisman has mentioned the possibility that the Archmage's plan could actually have come from somewhere else, given that it's all part of the time loop - he comes up with it because he sees his future self come up with it. Could that "somewhere else" also be responsible for the Archmage's original interest in acquiring the "Triad of Power", in light of his never having decided what he was going to do with it - although it was certainly compatible with his characterization? I'm tempted to ask Greg about this, but it's a little too close to an idea, so I won't.)

The bit where the Archmage eats the Grimorum shook me up a lot the first time that I saw this episode. The Grimorum had been around ever since the series began, if in the background most of the time. And now, all of a sudden, it's gone. (It isn't really gone forever until Part Three, of course, but it ceases to exist as an independent entity after the Archmage eats it.) I can still imagine Sir Francis Bacon saying "When I wrote, 'Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested', this is NOT what I had in mind." And the Archmage just *has* to follow it up with a little "gulp". (Not as bad as Broadway's belches, admittedly.)

Other Archmage highlights: His constantly chewing out his former self with such lines as "Oh, stop whimpering and show some dignity", "If you don't know, don't guess", "For the last time, it's 'when', not 'where'."

When his former self (now the enhanced Archmage) heads off into the time loop again, the Archmage mutters, "Finally! I thought he'd never leave!"

I've mentioned this before, but one intriguing line of the Archmage's is his remark that the modern-day world has become a place of science, "with weapons as powerful as any magic". I wondered how he knew that, since he goes from 1020 straight to Avalon, with no time in the modern world during the time loop outside of Avalon. I do have a few possible theories. One is that he learns that by eating the Grimorum and gaining knowledge. Another is that he does get to see Demona and Macbeth using their high-tech weaponry in their initial attack on the palace. And finally (my personal favorite), he doesn't actually know about how the outside world has changed, but he heard himself saying it in the time loop, so when it's his turn to become the enhanced Archmage, he has to say it to preserve the loop. (I might add that, in the initial draft of "Avalon Part Two" - which I saw at the Gathering 2001 - the two Archmages visit modern-day New York during "City of Stone" to give fresh orders to the Weird Sisters, which could also explain that.)

Another great Archmage moment: in 1020, the enhanced Archmage tells the Weird Sisters to meet him again in 975 years. The original Archmage cries out in disbelief "975 years?", whereupon the enhanced Archmage immediately glowers at him.

I continued studying the Weird Sisters' lines and who says what. Selene, the Sister representing vengeance, is the one who yells at the Archmage for calling off the initial attack. Luna, the Sister representing fate, is the one who mentions the rules (human magics are forbidden on Avalon, Oberon's law forbids direct interference), and also says "What is time to an immortal?" (Oddly enough, it's Selene rather than Luna who utters the famous line "All things are true." Maybe the Sisters are getting worried about being typecast. :).)

We get the foreshadowings of King Arthur as the Sleeping King, which really excited me when I first saw this episode; as soon as I knew that Avalon was the setting, I was expecting King Arthur to get involved somehow. I was even more excited when Elisa began asking about the Sleeping King.

Other noteworthy moments:

The introduction of Angela, Gabriel, and Boudicca (with Elisa picking up on Angela's family resemblances).

Goliath explains about how gargoyle children belong to the whole clan (another piece of gargoyle culture info of note).

Goliath's joy at seeing the eggs all grown up is one of the most moving parts of this episode.

And, as one last little touch, but one that I really enjoyed, Findlaech gets a cameo in the 1020 sequence.

What we need is a system where questions that can be answered by the FAQ are never cleared and sent to Greg to begin with. They are booted from the queue by Todd with the click of a mouse button and sent straight to the questions answered archive with the auto-reply answer of "Please see the FAQ" or however Greg wishes to phrase it.

Come to the Gathering... it's like "Ask Greg" without the two-year backlog... and it's happening in just 4 more days in Montreal, Quebec!

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. There's already been a question submitted that could have been answered by reading the FAQ:

Anonymous writes...

Should Gargoyles be given a second chance <crosses fingers>, would you ever consider using fanfic stories/characters as source material?
Some characters, such as Christine Morgan's immensely popular Jericho (who got his own fansite/shrine), or some stories, such as CM's Breeding Season, provide excellent source material for continuing the saga.

* * *

Sheesh, here we go again with frivilous questions. Argghh.

I do like the feature where you can tell where each question is in line (#2 out of 567), but I do miss the ability to view more than 1 unanswered question at a time.
