BLAISE - Thanks for noticing that. I hadn't caught it either.
Todd Jensen - [merlyn1 at mindspring dot com]

I had noticed before, but figured someone had already commented on it. Guess I was wrong. Go figure.

Cheese, it's as good an answer as any.

Comic book> Wow! Blaise, I've never noticed that before. That is pretty cool. Those fade to black and lighten to white pages were clearly well thought out.

"But what do you call each other?" "'Friend...'" - Tom and Brooklyn, "Awakening, Part One"

****A pin drops into the Room. It hits the ground with an abnormally loud CLANG! Blaise then materializes next to the pin.**** Wow...just wow. Over 48 hours of...nothing. Well, all right then.

THINGS I NOTICED WHILE RE-READING THE COMICS> I may be a bit behind the curve here, but I just now noticed that in the "Timedancer" arc (issues 10-12), the color of the frames changed depending on whether the scene was taking place at day or night. I mean, the frame around the panels (the background all those lovely pictures are on, in other words) starts out black, but as dawn comes on page 17, the frame is black at the top, but lightens in relation to the panels until at the bottom (when the corresponding panel takes place in the day) the frame is now white. And it remains white throughout the day scenes until page 22, when night descends again and the frame correspondingly fades to black. And it does this through all three issues! Like I said, I'm pretty sure other people noticed this before me, but I only just saw it on my most recent read-through and was very impressed. Greg Guler was the art director, so I guess I give my kudos to him (and if it was someone else's idea, please correct me so I know who to laud).

GARGOYLES GAMES> Who here has some of the games (board and video) that were released under the Gargoyles theme? I, personally, have the Genesis video game (despite being Sega, that game is an excellent example of "Nintendo Hard"--look it up on TVTropes), the "Stone Warriors Battle" card game from Parker Brothers (it's actually kind of fun and well made, but I will not shout "Stone Warriors Battle!" every time I throw down a battle token unless someone puts a gun to my head...or offers me a lot of money), the interactive VCR board game (not bad...but Xanatos is more than a little out of character, what with wanting to destroy the gargoyles and giving an evil laugh), and the Milton Bradley board game (again, not a bad job there, but it's strange to have Goliath be like a "secret weapon" character). I know there are more out there. There's a set of Gargoyles playing cards that I once saw a classmate with, but I never had the luck to get them myself. And there was actually another board game put out by another company (I want to say "Canada Games" or something like that). I also remember a couple of fan made computer games: a text adventure, and one with full graphics (but I only remember an introductory stage being released, I don't know if more work was done on it).
So, that's my list (and some of my thoughts). Anyone else? Bueller?

Until next time (which will hopefully have more people)! ****Blaise picks up the pin and walks out through the wall (leaving a Blaise-shaped hole).****

In one of his most recent answers, Greg Weisman mentioned that he thought of Brother Valmont as a "monk-gone-bad", which certainly fits his title of "Brother". This might tie in with the speculation of a link between Brother Valmont and Duval, in light of Duval's own tone of a "Grail-guardian-gone-bad" - though I won't even try speculating on the details of that connection.

BRIAN> Like Masterdramon said, those are just custom DVD covers. If you decide to buy them, all you'll be getting is a few glossy sheets of paper with some nice fan-art on them.

Brian: Those are merely fan-created artworks to be placed on existing DVD cases, not DVDs themselves (you'll notice that the artworks for the Season 1 and 2 volumes look nothing like their real-life counterparts).

Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3 do not exist on DVD. This had not changed.

I am very sorry if I disturb you now guys, but do you know this site?:

If you go there you can find a Gargoyles DVDs in sale, all canonical 2 season and the no-caonical 3 season.
Could you explain to me?
Thank you and very sorry.

Landon: In the immortal words of Peter Benjamin Parker, "Wow...just, wow."

Truly ecstatic to see that the undoubtedly phenomenal stories that Greg, Brandon, and their writing staff will be offering us shall be backed up with such undeniably stellar animation work. I'm also really digging the voice acting so far, particularly Khary Payton's Aqualad.

LANDON> Wow, just... wow! Even on a grainy bootleg that animation looks drop dead gorgeous, it honestly looks like cinematic feature quality stuff. The voice acting sound pretty good as well. Everytime I hear something new about this show, I get more and more stoked.

I'm actually in the "media blackout" phase of waiting for Young Justice. I know it's coming soon, I know I'm going to watch it, so I'm not going to go out of my way to read up on it or watch trailers. I'm also not going out of my way to avoid learning anything about it; I just want to save as many surprises as possible for when the show actually airs.

I am SOOO happy someone recorded that so people who couldn't go to NYCC can see it. What a great clip.

Someone bootlegged video of the Young Justice #NYCC 5 minute preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsnuMjbaqbM The animation has a slight anime flair to it, IMHO.

Landon> Thanks for the link. Too much background noise resulted in me only watching two minutes of it.

Del Toro could definitely be a good choice, but he tends to be very hit or miss, for me anyway. Pan's Labyrinth was absolutely fantastic and I'd be thrilled to see a Gargoyles movie with that level of depth, imagination, and craft. On the other hand, I was merely OK with his first Hellboy movie and ahted all but one or two scenes of Hellboy 2. I think it's partly due to mmy familiarity with the original comics. I realized that it would be del Toro's take on the Hellboy concept, but by the second film, it had very little to do with what I liked about the comics. (except for those two scenes or so.) If he brought his A game to an adaptation of Gargoyles it would be great. But there si chance that we could end up with a Gargoyles movie that doesn't feel like the series we know and love.

I think that Peter Jackson's style is a little too "schlock horror", at least, based on his handling of "The Lord of the Rings" (the only movies of his that I've seen). Of course, he might have changed since then, but I'd prefer a director with a more subtle style.
Todd Jensen - [merlyn1 at mindspring dot com]

Sorry, "NO reason".

"Could I say some of Ash's catch phrases? I COULD say some of Ash's catch phrases, IF I was your monkey." -Bruce Campbell, at his panel yesterday.

Clint Eastwood might be an interesting choice. I mean, "The Empire Strikes Back" was directed by a man who had never directed a summer blockbuster before, and was primarily known for character dramas, and that movie turned out to be the best thing George Lucas's name was ever attached to. So there's reason why people who direct blockbusters have to be the go-to people.

Greg B: Out of curiosity, was there any Eastwood film in particular that made you think of him?

"Could I say some of Ash's catch phrases? I COULD say some of Ash's catch phrases, IF I was your monkey." -Bruce Campbell, at his panel yesterday.

I see, I will find more information about Peter Jackson.
I you know something, I really hope Disney will decide to do a REAL GARGOYLES MOVE, once for all.

Brian Bartoccini

Brian: Not every Academy Award earned by the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy counts as an award that Peter Jackson earned. It would be ridiculous, for example, to credit him as having won "Best Original Score" or "Best Sound Mixing." Greg X's count is accurate.

As for me, I second the nomination of Del Toro myself.

Mr .Bishansky: Peter Jackson won 11 Oscar => 4 for Lord of the rings 1 (I do not remember the titles completely now); 2 for Lord of the Rings 2; 11 Lord of the rings 3.
Ehi, Algernon, I agree with you about the movies of Del Toro, they are pretty good.

Brian Bartoccini

My personal first choice would be Guillermo Del Toro, it exactly the sort of thing that would appeal to his sensibilities. He's proven he can balance character and story with SFX and action. And judging by his work on Hellboy, as well as interviews on the perpetually damned to Development Hell The Hobbit and At the Mountains of Madness, he deeply cares about capturing the spirit of whatever source material he adapts.

And really, aren't the Hellboy movies pretty much the closest thing to a live action Gargoyles movie on the market right now?

Algernon
Make a REAL "Gargoyles" movie, Disney!

Brian> I know who Peter Jackson is. I loved Lord of the Rings (though, I hated his King Kong), and while his "Gargoyles" would be interesting... I'd prefer to see Clint Eastwood's.

Clint has won Oscars too, you know. Five of them. Oh, and Peter Jackson has only won three Oscars, not seventeen.

But either way, I think Clint Eastwood's take would be interesting. It'd be more of a character driven story, and less of an action and SFX driven story (though those would still be there).

Greg Bishansky

Peter Jackson has gain 17 Oscar with 'Lord of the rings', and he has done a good job with 'King Kong'.
That is why I think he can be a very good director for a REAL Gargoyles Movie.

BRIAN> Actually, I'd like to get a director who isn't known for making huge blockbusters for it. While it would never happen, I think Clint Eastwood would make a very interesting movie.
Greg Bishansky

Hi again guys.
I want 'say' to you this: in my opinion a good director film for a REAL GARGOYLES MOVIE can be PETER JACKSON, the same of Lord of the rings and King Kong.
What do you think about that?

Brian Bartoccini

Ten.

Nice sig, HoE. My friend from college had a picture on his facebook with Bruce Campbell from the NYCC and someone commented, "Who's that?" It made me sad.

Anthony Tini

Nine. Suddenly, I feel like the room needs a Shari avatar, if only for this purpose.

And as someone who was at the Young Justice panel at NYCC on Saturday, I just wanted to say that what I saw in the video they showed looks awesome. Day after Thanksgiving on Cartoon Network, I'll be watching.

Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman interview on Young Justice at NYCC: http://www.pendragonspost.com/2010/10/10/nycc-young-justice-panel/ They've been tight-lipped because of the multitude of secrets to be revealed, expect the Weisman trademark of tons of overlapping story arcs of various lengths, they go over Robin's origin and why he's so young, and what Greg learned from doing Spectacular Spider-Man that is helping with Young Justice.

...And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.
