Avalon Archive can still be accessed using the WABAC machine. Just type in the URL (if you don't know what it is, just go to an old version of the GFW and click the link.) I don't know if it has what you're looking for, but it's worth a shot.

Comet> Do you have an email? I may be able to help you.
Richard Jackson

COMET> They're pretty bad and not canon. I'd stick with the SLG stuff.

But to answer your question, I don't think so.

Elisa Maza, why don't you just take that "sodie pop" can and stick the straw right into New York's eye!

Is there some site where I can read the content of all the marvel comics? GargWiki has it just for the first ones and the Avalon Archives don't seem to exist anymore.

Todd: To be fair, I think the Xanadu Leader's objections were mostly aggravated by the entrenched sexism that the policy all-but-encourages over anything else.

But even so, I hadn't thought of that. Admittedly, the "separation of mates during the final heat" policy may no longer be an issue in the Formspring-Verse (as the London Clan was revealed to the world months ago and thus has less pressure on it to fly under the radar), but that's still definitely a point of contention that could arise should the Xanadu Leader learn about it.

...This is what I love about the Formspring roleplay (and about well-written fanfiction of an ongoing franchise in general): one can look at the creative decisions made and wonder, "Hmmm...could this really happen in canon?" and launch speculation/discussions from there.

Todd> I'd imagine the Xanadu clan would be more understanding of the London clan's policy - their leader seemed more appalled by the common results of the meeting between the one-child policy and a cultural preference for male children, not necessarily the policy in and of itself. Although, if some of them were to start equating any population control measures at all with human evil, that could certainly create some interesting tension between clans.
Ross

MASTERDRAMON - The Xanadu clan's response towards the population control measures of the Chinese government makes me what they think of the London clan's limiting its females to only two eggs a female gargoyle's lifetime rather than three.
Todd Jensen

Todd: The most interesting aspect of Demona's recent acquisition of a beast, in my opinion, has been the Xanadu Clan's reaction to her (as well as their general structure; according to their Leader, they're divided up into cells across twelve temples, each one named after an animal in the Chinese Zodiac). Their observations of the modern Chinese government - especially the one-child policy - has apparently soured them against humans and rendered them very sympathetic to Demona's words, a notion I find rather appealing after further thought.

With the Gargoyle Nation in such a nascent stage at this point, I'm definitely interested in how all this turns out.

Masterdramon - [kmc12009@mymail.pomona.edu]

MASTERDRAMON - Liked the archaeologists' protest of all those historical artifacts getting destroyed in "Gargoyles", an element that has disturbed Greg himself at times. (And thank goodness he had Dingo wanting to make certain that the Illuminati's art treasures in Falstaff's keeping didn't share the same fate - not to mention, earlier than that, Hudson and Broadway urging Goliath not to burn the Scrolls of Merlin.)
I had a similar feeling, for that matter, in the "Welcome to Happy Harbor" episode of "Young Justice", when what looked like a historic old house got smashed to splinters in the team's fight with Mr. Twister.
And I see that someone else has noted Greg's ideas about the events of "Les Miserables" being historical instead of fictional in the Gargoyles Universe to heart (the notion of the terrorist from "City of Stone" being also Colette).

So Demona has her own gargoyle beast now, eh? This should be interesting.... (Some among you might recall my own creativity demon about her having one, in which it was named Spot, and after it goes on the rampage through the house, chewing up a lot of priceless magical objects, she forces it out the front door, saying....)

For anyone else who still enjoys these, I've got a good handful of new "Greg Weisman" Formspring responses for y'all...

Beth Maza: I think I met his wife once...

Lydia Duane/Arthur Morwood-Smyth: Why is he always destroying so many priceless, irreplaceable artifacts in his shows?

Grandmother: A Wise Man knows that not everyone views growing older as a bad thing.

Agent H (AKA the Terrorist from "City of Stone;" affiliated with HYDRA and heavily hinted to be Cosette from Les Miserables): The real reason his shows keep getting cancelled is because he knows too much. They're trying to silence him!

The Leader of the Loch Ness Clan: My perceptions of humans have been shattered lately...I cannot say that I have an opinion at this time.

The Leader of the New Olympian Clan: I fear that I have not yet gathered enough information to determine the answer to that.

The Second of the New Olympian Clan: I don't care about humans, one way or another.

Faunus (a New Olympian Senator, and a faun): I do appreciate someone who can satirize their own works.

Periclymenus (a New Olympian Senator, and a shapeshifter): The humans need our guidance...so that we do not produce more "Theseus-lovers".

Demona's Fu-Dog (a gift from the Xanadu Clan): GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Silvio "Silvermane" Manfredi: Who? Is he some other punk who thinks he can take what is mine?

Lady Viper (affiliated with HYDRA): Should I be aware of who this man is?

Black Widow (affiliated with HYDRA): I prefer Fyodor Dostoevsky.

The Grim Reaper (affiliated with HYDRA): I'm more of a Christopher Yost man, myself.

And finally, with the recent revelation that the "Flashback of Notre Dame" cast are actually from DC's Earth-16 rather than Earth-1, we have an...interesting response from the true masterminds behind Thomeheb's activities in the SpecGargoyles-Verse...

The Light: Who dares to speak of L-0?!

Richard Jackson: Ah, no big . . . really, I just compiled the bulk of related AskGreg responses . . . the real world background history (St. Nicholas-through-the-Coca-Cola-inspired-modern-myths) still needs to be incorporated.

GregXB: Um, that Venture Bros. link doesn't seem to work ;/

So this is sorta Young Justice related, Just saw the headline that one of a co-creator of the Joker passed away . . .

http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/08/showbiz/jerry-robinson-obit/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

I frankly wouldn't have recognized him as a big DC name, but that's no doubt because Young Justice is really my first foray into the DC mythos. But (having now read his Wikipedia article >_>) I do think I'll pick up his 1974 book The Comics, as I do have a certain fondness for newspaper comic strips, and the thought of a comprehensive book detailing the Yellow Kid into today's strips (Amazon apparently sells an updated text) sounds fascinating.

RIP Jerry Robinson.

That krampus discussion is awesome xD
I like the thoughts you have about that. I can't really decide between believing it being the timedancing Brooklyn or a child of Oberon. Both options sound good in their own way.

Rebel: Either that, or the Krampus is a Child that St. Nick bound with iron chains, similar to Puck in "The Mirror" or the Weird Sisters in "Avalon, Part III." It would fit perfectly with at least one version of the myths.

...For that matter, are the lamps of djinn in the "Gargoyles" Universe made of iron as well (assuming they exist at all, but I'd be surprised if they didn't, especially considering Shari's supposed "true identity")? Since that seems more-or-less to be the same kind of situation.

My mind is whirring on this now. That pleases me. :D

Based on the description of the Krampus mentioned here, perhaps Brooklyn himself is somehow the origin of the Krampus myth?

Even Old New York was once New Amsterdam...why they changed it I can't say, people just liked it better that way.

Perhaps Santa Claus needs a place on the Garg Wiki. I did a search and Greg has confirmed he exists in the Gargoyles Universe, so he's certainly a canon-in-training character.

Richard Jackson

One thought I had about Santa Claus in "Gargoyles" today: Santa has strong ties to New York's past. New York started off as a Dutch colony (before it was captured by the British). The Dutch brought the notion of Santa in his original manifestation as St. Nicholas to America ("Santa Claus", of course, is a variant of "St. Nicholas" as pronounced by the Dutch), where it eventually spread to the rest of the U.S. New York (back when it was New Amsterdam) was one of the leading Dutch colonial towns in North America, and Washington Irving in his humorous history of New York under the Dutch often mentioned St. Nicholas and his gift-giving in it. (In particular, in his version, the Dutch colonists are inspired to settle in Manhattan by a dream one of them has - or claims to have had - about St. Nicholas "riding over the tops of the trees, in that self-same wagon wherein he brings his yearly presents to children", landing on the island, and smoking his pipe, from which a cloud rises over Manhattan, forming into images of "palaces and domes and lofty spires" (if Washington Irving only knew just how lofty the spires of New York would be), then "laying his finger beside his nose" (I'm certain Clement Moore must have read that passage) and giving the colonist "a very significant look" flies off in his wagon again.

"Gargoyles" treated a lot on Scottish history, of course, but I've sometimes wondered whether, with enough stories, Greg Weisman might have gotten the clan involved somehow in the past history of New York, their new home town. Maybe Brooklyn's Timedancing would have brought him to New York when it was New Amsterdam (even a possible run-in with Peter Stuyvesant), or the American Revolution when the British captured New York in late 1776. (An American Revolution story, of course, would probably involve the Illuminati; I'm certain they had some link to the Founding Fathers.)

I saw a picture of Santa (in his St. Nicholas manifestation, complete with a bishop's mitre) confronting the Krampus (who looked very much like a conventional devil - horns, goatee, large pointed ears, malevolent smile, red coloring) at a writing forum I regularly visit, just this evening. I've heard of the Krampus, of course (Ed Reynolds shared with me details of a fictional project on Santa that would have made the Krampus a major recurring antagonist), but hadn't thought that he might feature in that Santa Claus story.

Todd Jensen

Masterdramon> I would imagine the Krampus also goes by Belsnickel if he/it exists in the Gargverse. Knecht Ruprecht, however, would likely be someone else entirely.

Todd/Algernon: That does make me idly curious about whether or not the Krampus exists in the Gargoyles Universe...and if so, if it's one of the Children.

That might be one direction Greg could go with the story without making it, for lack of a better term, "silly."

TODD> I'm just wondering how St. Nick is managing now that most of his workforce has been recalled to Avalon? ;)
Algernon - [padraig.j.griffin@hotmail.com]

BISHANSKY - I must be naive, since I'd always assumed that Mrs. Sturlison had died of natural causes (if I ever thought about it at all). I never thought of a "Bluebeard" scenario at work.

Since today is St. Nicholas's Day, we could always speculate about that "Gargoyles" story involving Santa Claus that Greg Weisman had plans to tell. I still wonder about that one sometimes (largely how to get Santa to match the mood of the series).
