@Rebel, I googled and found this: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/young-justice-invasion

Looks like
Miss Martian has a shorter haircut and Aqualad gets a new uniform.
"This is totally unrelated, but I'm upset about that picture being released of the character in Season 2 D: (of the toy or whatever) I know you had nothing to do with it, but it was all over my tumblr and I was like ._. SPOILER MUCH. WARNING NEXT TIME. Just makes me sad...ItotallydigMegan'shairthough. "

Anyone have a link to the pic this person is talking about?

Rebel

Battle Beast> I've also been to Mexico! It seems we visited similar places. Unfortunately, I did not meet Xanatos. I am now a being of pure, infinite sadness.

I didn't see any Mayan Sun Amulets, either.

Harvester> Technically, if we all agree he's a troll, the assertions you claim are false and nonsensical are the result of that trolling. By your own logic, in order to mock his attempts at trolling, gaps in logic, or generally poor trolling form you too must be a troll or have trolled previously (and also, at least by indirect implication, have done better).

Since trolling is, like any piece of writing, ultimately a creative enterprise (being born from fabrications or turns of logic meant to anger or frustrate the target), you're likewise asserting by implication that a creative work can only be criticized by others who partake in the medium and not the general audience.
You have also just been trolled, and now that I have partaken in the event I can conclude that None of Your Business is indeed a poor troll. Far too antagonistic. The key, really, is putting something like this in the direct middle of a wider point with calm confidence. But that may be a stylistic bias of mine.

Really, his attempts would have been more successful had he attempted specific instances of what he claimed. But that might be working a bit too hard, and his ambition and target were sloppily allocated between Bishanky and the submission policy.
Incivis> I actually don't find it surprising at all. I'm sure, to a lot of people, Clan Building represents a fresh, new era divorced from what they've known as Gargoyles for MANY years. Just like Angela, Katana represents a distinct new member of the core cast that promises to drastically change the status quo. Even fan anticipation aside, you could probably make a fairly decent case that all of the potential of plot progression, new canon, and expansion of the universe could be iconically represented in the image of Katana. She's NOT the most significant character, but she's a brand new gargoyle promised for the core cast we've never seen before. There's a great allure to that.

You can't say the same things about, say, Peredur or Falstaff. As great a character as Falstaff is and as ominous and powerful Peredur's appearance is, they don't represent a shift in iconography like Katana does. She's an inherently powerful symbol that sells the notion of progression. Not even Coldstone or Coldfire can really do that, they've been introduced previous and are more like the equivalent of Matt Bluestone finally joining the Clan.

Harlan Phoenix - [harlanphoenix@live.com]

Katana> No, we haven't seen her speak yet, but I'm not entirely surprised that she would crack the top 10.

Likely most of the people accessing GargWiki are also Gargoyles fans, for whom Brooklyn is a popular character. Katana represents some character development for Brooklyn, and an answer to the long-standing question of "Who is Brooklyn's mate?"

So it's not surprising that a lot of fans were looking at her page. What *does* surprise me, though, is that they continue to do it.

I'm shipping off...to find my wooden leg!

I just got back from Mexico... specifically, Playa del Carmen on the Mayan Rivieara. One of the activities I partook in was to visit Ek'Balam, a Mayan pyramid. Very cool. Very old.

One of the men in our tour looked a lot like Jon Frakes, but it obviously wasn't him. We got to the top of one of the smaller Pyramids, and he just stood at the top edge, overlooking the land. He said those immortal words which every Gargoyles fan gets chills listening to: "Pay a man enough, and he'll walk barefoot into hell."

I just about fell down the pyramid steps! I immediatly asked him why he said that, and he responded that, "It was a line from a TV show I watched as a teen and I've remembered it ever since."

I said, "Yah, Gargoyles," to which he replied, "You know the show?" "Are you kidding?" I replied back, and we got to talking about Gargoyles the rest of the day. He had NO IDEA about the DVDs or comics, but he did have the Hot Topic T-Shirt.

I Also told him he reminded me of Frakes, and to some extent, Xanatos. He tells me, "Yah, but a fatter Xanatos/Frankes with a terrible sounding voice." LOL.

I also thought about the Mayan/Guatamalan Clan as I stood on the pyramid... I looked for something in the gift shops that resembled the MAyan Sun Ammulet, but I didn't really see anything...

So that's my story.

Every now and again, I like to check GargWiki to see which pages get the most views. Obviously there is the Main Page, but I tend to discount that. I've posted this before, a couple of years ago. But, it interests me.

1. Timeline ‎(100,953 views)
2. Demona ‎(64,973 views)
3. Goliath ‎(53,547 views)
4. Gargoyle ‎(50,542 views)
5. Elisa Maza ‎(49,222 views)
6. Brooklyn ‎(45,751 views)
7. Angela ‎(43,042 views)
8. Katana ‎(39,159 views)
9. David Xanatos ‎(37,600 views)
10. Children of Oberon ‎(36,716 views)

The only one here that really surprises me is Katana cracking the Top Ten, especially for a relatively new character. The Timeline being our most popular page does not surprise me in the slightest.

Likewise, Demona's incredibly high number of views... since a case could be made that she's the breakout character of the series.

Actually, Noneofyourbusiness is partially right. Greg B put a microchip in my brain which he will detonate if I don't read his reviews of things. So there's no hope for me. ( ;

But last I checked, everyone else has the power to not read something if they don't want to. Which applies to every walk of life. So I'm not sure how Greg is forcing reviews upon anyone. I'd also be curious to see if NOYB can send us a link to anything he's reviewed, since he's so quick to judge other peoples' reviews as witless.

Hmmm... NOYB. Just one letter away from something else.

I'm getting a really good vibe in the Latest Responses queue. Things appear to be running smoothly and I'm grateful that Todd and Masterdramon are putting in the time to help out. It's sad people that some people don't care and don't read before asking a question, but I hope that one day they realize that it's an honor and a privilege that Greg takes the time to answer fan questions.
Anthony Tini

Wow. I don't think I realized how much I was missing new episodes until today. That was excellent.
And I know nothing whatsoever about Starro, but I'm still really intrigued to see how The Light will utilize it.
Noneofyourbusiness> "Since you force them down on us in every medium you can..."

Don't exagerrate. No one's forcing you, or anyone else, to read reviews if you don't want to.

Ross

I also have to add that the Young Justice page on GargWiki has a link to a YJ wikia that incorporates info from Ask Greg, such as the often repeated age questions. So if you're (just talking to folks in general who tend to do so) going to ask for an age, look at the character articles on the wiki to see if it's there.

And really, if it's too much trouble to check to see if your question has been answered or just checking in the comment room, then maybe the information isn't really that important to you.

Antiyonder

"I do. But right now, I forget how old Zatanna is... You may see that question pop in now and then."

So you're just going to deliberately break the Ask Greg rules just for the sake of being an ass?

I can see why you don't want anyone here knowing your name.

Algernon

Plus, Greg W. has never asked anyone to stop sending reviews of his works, fawning or otherwise. While he has repeatedly asked people to stop requesting spoilers or asking questions without checking the archives first.

Basically, Greg B. has obeyed the rules. Those who repeatedly ask how old Zatanna's is, not so much.

Algernon

"Oh, and the word you were looking for is "stink."
Very astute. You'd be better off employing that insight into your bland, superficial and witless reviews for once. Since you force them down on us in every medium you can, you might at least give us something to sink our teeth into.

"And while you're at it, check the archives and the questions being submitted ahead before posting a question."
I do. But right now, I forget how old Zatanna is... You may see that question pop in now and then.

Noneofyourbusinees

Noneofyourbusiness> The problem with most of these submissions is asking a question that is:

A. A spoiler for future YJ episode and issues when the question will be answered in time, and thus not allowed.
B. A question that has been answered or could be answered by asking someone in the comment room.

Does Greg B's submissions fall into either category?

Antiyonder

<<Mr. Bishansky, maybe you could do everyone a favor and get off your high horse and take a look at your own crappy "submissions".>>

What, you mean the ones where I check the archives first, check the unanswered questions ahead of me, and don't ask what color characters' eyes are, or how old a character is when it's been asked multiple times?

<<Or don't you think that your self-indulgent "reviews" (and I also use that term loosely) don't bog down the queue?>>

Greg has asked for and invited reviews in the past. No, they don't bog down the queue. Asking several times if the Joker is popping up again, or how old Lord Kobra is (hours after it was already answered and near the top of the Latest Responses, might I add) does.

And as for my reviews, hey, a major animation site like World's Finest seems to like them and publish them, I might be doing something right.

<<How can anyone put up with your "my sh*t don't sting" attitude?>>

I am honest, direct, and not a coward who hides his name.

Oh, and the word you were looking for is "stink."

<<Seriously. You think if you keep gushing and fawning all over Greg Weisman he'll hire you or something?>>

Gushing and fawning... have you read most of my YJ reviews? I like the show, but don't love the show.

But I praise when I feel praise is merited. Read my thoughts on Scorsese, Nolan, or Tarantino movies some time. Wow.

And while you're at it, check the archives and the questions being submitted ahead before posting a question.

MASTERDRAMON - Thanks. (And some of the comments I read in the queue fitted in with that.)

BISHANSKY - I'd like to thank you for your "Temptation" comment. That line of Demona's (which I'd forgotten about - it's been too long since I watched any "Gargoyles" on DVD) does take on new meaning ever since the Timedancer story in "Clan-Building Volume Two". BISHANSKY (on the Light I.Q. question you mentioned) - I remember reading a comment/question on those kinds of questions, wondering whether the people submitting them had developed too much of a "role-playing game" mentality.

So (as a person who hasn't seen today's episode of "Young Justice"), just to make certain I understand this from Masterdramon's review,
Zatanna's father dies in this episode?
Brainiac: Heh, fair point. And even if he didn't really do much, Blackbriar Thorn's design was amazing.

Anonymous: That was me, and I respectfully disagree. The key clause of the quoted response was, "Even obvious stuff can't be addressed, because if I acknowledge anything, the stuff I don't comment on is spoiled by default."

In other words, if you ask whether, say, Static/Virgil Hawkins will appear in "Young Justice," it doesn't matter he actually WILL or not. If he's planned for a future episode you get "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT." If he's not planned for a future episode you get "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."

Because if he were to answer those differently, as he states above, he'd be "[spoiling] by default." Anything, at all, that has to do with future plans/events/characters in unaired episodes gets the same response.

Hope this answered your query more sufficiently.

Todd: Whoops, you're totally right. Early on it was a single Gargs question in a sea of YJ, and I momentarily forgot that they're not held to the same standards.

In any event, I've gone back and deleted it. Won't happen again.

Thanks so much for pointing it out to me, though. Still learning, LOL.

Brainiac: I thought this episode was phenomenal. While
I could see the tragedy coming, that didn't make it any less painful when Zatanna has to say goodbye to her father's consciousness, probably until Giovanni is on his deathbed.

I loved the really serious take (and name-drop) of the "World Without Grown-Ups" concept from the comics, and even moreso when it ended up being a multi-dimensional affair that made both Billy Batson AND Captain Marvel essential facets of the battle plan. I loved the bits we got at the end with the Team/Billy and their families. And I loved, loved, LOVED that forlorn look Wally gives the juice bottle when he places it on the souvenir shelf to replace the Helmet of Fate.

Best part of the episode, though? The fact that the Light's disparate plans are finally coming together. Breaking the Riddler out of Belle Reve, shattering Starro into pieces and sending it to the surface world, and then this...all so the Light now can get their hands on one of the most powerful sources of mind control in the Universe.

Also, really cool to see that the Riddler's apparently one of those "can count them on one hand" Light agents who know all seven, like Sportsmaster. My money's on Vertigo being one as well.

I think my only real complaint is that Felix Faust, Blackbriar Thorn, Wizard, and Wotan were all really just window-dressing to the plan; none of them even got a line. But with such a jam-packed episode, it's a small complaint.
Speaking of "Young Justice", I recently read a synopsis of the companion comic book issues over at the "Young Justice" wiki (which, by the way, has completed its synopsis of "Failsafe" - thanks, whoever did it). I know that it's not a substitute for reading the comics themselves, but I don't get out to Starclipper Comics (where I bought the "Gargoyles" comics) often enough to regularly buy them, so decided to take this way of reading them.

They really do seem like a companion to the television series, filling in the blanks between episodes. Two elements stood out to me most of all.
1. One of the stories has the Team try to protect a CEO whom the Light had once done business with from being assassinated (with the indication that, after the Cadmus Labs incident at the start of the series, the Light has decided to get rid of the people they'd worked with) - and fail to save her life. Her assassination takes place off-stage and is implied rather than shown, but it still struck me as a surprise. (Of course, I don't know the age of the intended core audience.) Though it certainly one good way of keeping the Light dangerous while still keeping the Team and the Justice League alive (a bit like all those revelations at the ends of "Gargoyles" episodes about what Xanatos' real goal had been - and that he was after more than capturing the gargoyles).

2. Speaking of Xanatos, I remembered Greg Weisman, in a chat session, mentioning that his work on General Eiling in Captain Atom comics that he'd written for DC before he helped create "Gargoyles" was a kind of preparation for Xanatos in "Gargoyles" - and the revelation at the end of the Captain Atom story in the "Young Justice" series that Eiling had really been behind all the scheming and sees his convincing Captain Atom that he's really a friend as a major victory, felt a lot like Xanatos.
I recently wondered whether the spate of spoiler requests Greg's been receiving at "Ask Greg" have had anything to do with the off again/on again schedule for "Young Justice" (from what I've been able to pick up, it's had long hiatuses like the one from November last year to March this year); did some viewers despair of seeing the remaining episodes? (Though that's probably too charitable a theory about their motives.)

Todd Jensen

Question I considered asking Greg, but felt I should try here first, but relating to an old question: http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/archives.php?lid=627

Long story short, I asked Greg if he could do his Disney Villains series as a comic and he responded that another company (for the record, I asked this question in relation to Boom possibly publishing it) would have trouble publishing it as each villain comes from a different franchise (licensing).

Now to ask my question:

Now would Marvel (a company owned by Disney) have that same problem or not?

Antiyonder

Anthony: Considering it's going to be headlining DC Nation from now on (alongside Green Lantern: TAS), I'd have to wager yes. But we don't have airdates for episodes 20-46 yet, so we can't be sure until those are released.

Todd: Just wanted to let you know that Gorebash got back to me today, and I'm officially ready to go with approving "Young Justice" questions once the queue opens back up on March 3! Hopefully I can ease the burden on you a little bit from here on out, LOL.

So not only is YJ on Saturday, but it's on at 10:30 AM. Is this its new day and time slot moving forward?

Hey, I'm searching for good Gargoyles fanpage lists. Do you know any? I had one that had hundreds of links (many of them leading to pages no longer existing, but whatever) but I can't find it anymore :S

Adam> You always ask such interesting questions... but I also think the answers to these would be quite ambiguous.

Adam> While I'd love to know the answers to those questions, I tend to doubt that Greg will actually respond with anything other than "Spoiler Request. No Comment." or the like. They could both be seen as ideas masquerading as questions too.

With Ask Greg opening up again this weekend, I have got a couple of questions that I would like to ask him. Please let me know if you think he would answer them.

1. We know Samson's ancentor is Goliath through Broadway and Angela, but does he have any non "Scottish" in him. Meaning, is he 100% Scottish or does he have any other Gargoyle type in him?

2. I don't know if this has been asked or not, but of the 8 surving clans before 1994, we know that the New Olympian clan has members that came from all over the Mediterranean, but are any of the other surving clans like that.

We've had enough to do this for a while now, so I'm not sure why we haven't yet. Regardless, I'll kick it off.

Haunted! (Yes, Stopover was technically first, but it's an Issue #0 - it and the FCBD half-issue can sit this out).
