Intriguing! Thanks for the detective work, Neill. If it won't be BOOM! Studios, it's interesting that Disney/Marvel is going with nearly the same creative team.

"Neill - Do you have any sources besides that tweet? It's kind of vague. Silvani is heavily implying Darkwing Duck is his other tweets, but how do you know that's the case or that it's slated for next year?"

There are more tweets, look at these:

https://twitter.com/SizzlerKistler/status/495013561513439232 (Aaron Sparrow: " I think you might really enjoy 2015. :)")

I don't think BOOM! is involved in this. Maybe this is Disney finally doing something with their properties on their own?

"He (Greg Weisman in CONvergence) did drop a hint that there's something positive in that arena that he WANTED to announce this weekend, but as of yet nothing has be solidly confirmed, and thus he could make no official announcements."

This from few weeks back, and according to poster this is about Gargoyles.

If BOOM! is starting another Darkwing Duck comics line, that's huge news. As I recall, Disney seemed to lose interest in licensing their properties around the time they were buying Marvel. BOOM! was interested in pursuing Gargoyles at the time, but Disney stopped responding. If BOOM! starts up Darking Duck, could Gargoyles be on the way?

Something Darkwing Duck related has been greenlit and it is supposed to come out next year:

My guess is they're continuing the comic series that BOOM! started in 2010. A new TV show would be awesome, but I doubt they can make it for next year. Or how long does the development of such a show take? I don't have a clue... Anway if those new comics sell good... well maybe there is hope for Gargoyles aswell?

I think no one could think of anything to say after Harlan and Greg's exchange, which, by the time it was ended, summed things up for now. The best way to keep the room going is to have posts that encourage responses rather than posts which say everything you can say on the subject so that there's no point in commenting further on it. (Kind of like the difference between the endings to "Hunter's Moon" and "Angels in the Night".)

All right, let's wait another week, if you don't mind. When I get back from MechaCon on 8/4 or 8/5, I'll check back with you again. If you don't have it by then, I'll resend.
Greg Weisman

WEISMAN> Not yet. I wasn't sure if it was the issues I was having with my mail about a month ago or some hiccup in communication, but I've yet to receive it. I did send my address out, though, or attempted. But there must've been some sort of hiccup down the line, whether it's the delivery of my email or a hiccup in the delivery of the physical mail.

(Unless I look in my mailbox today and look like a total dope! But no, I have no yet received it.)

Thanks Melon. In any case, with some creative searching, I finally tracked down what appears to be the original comment from Greg that revealed the existence of the race, from 1999: http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=2957

"The Gargoyles, on the other hand, strike me as very symbiotic with the planet. The first sentient race Earth gave birth to. (Well, the second technically, but we're only counting the three that are still hanging in.)"

Harlan - Did you receive your TYPO CONTEST prize?
Greg Weisman

Pardon for double posting, but it's worth noting, Loren, that the post you link doesn't indicate Weisman doesn't recognize the term "Lost Race." He's very specifically questioning the Zeroth name (as am I, must be before my time) and is probably opting to just not answer the question. Your quest for its origins may play better with that read in mind; nothing about the link seems to indicate he's unfamiliar with the term "Lost Race" at that point in time.

It's been a while since I've seen Vows, but wouldn't the letter be just specific enough for Xanatos to assume that he wouldn't have any fear of death prior to whenever he gets married?

So I stumbled across mention of the 'Lost Race' for the first time, but it's left me a bit confused. Because while the Wiki links to a few of Greg's answers about them, I can't seem to figure out where/how they were initially hinted at.

In this July 2000 question, the "Zeroth/Lost Race" is asked about, but Greg doesn't recognize the terms. - http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=2009

Presumably the notion preexisted the question, but where? Greg later OKed the "Lost Race" label in a September 2000 post, and answered several questions about them.

But where does this aspect of the mythos originate? In some dialogue in an episode? In an earlier comment from Greg himself?

Makes sense; if you have the devil's luck you might as well use it.

Some people are natural risk takers (hell, Philippe Petit tightroped across the Twin Towers). Xanatos doesn't strike me as being paranoid... and both plans did work out for him.

Keep in mind, he didn't break a sweat when being held over the edge of a skyscraper... and don't say he had a means of surviving, you don't know that.

Greg Bishansky

Xanatos really seems to like pulling the gambit where he stages an attack on a target, but in actuality wants the attack to fail for the sake of his other plans. See "Her Brother's Keeper" or the Stone of Destiny story.

But in each of those cases, the execution seems rather lacking. Jackal and Hyena were flat out told to kill Xanatos, and they came very close on more than one occasion. It seems like an absurd amount of risk, especially since the reward for the plan's success is rather small.

In the case of the Stone of Destiny, he sent a Steel Clan, an Iron Clan, Coldsteel and Coyote. That's a ton of firepower; it seems that it was only by a bare margin that they didn't manage to steal the stone outright.

1) I'd have to rewatch the episode in question but unless they've appeared in a previous episode, they're likely just background designs created to fill up the scene rather than meant to be anyone in particular.

2) No idea but Greg had this to say on the subject...

I have a couple of questions I am hoping some fans can answer:
1. During part one of "The Gathering" episode of the Gargoyles series, there was a hooded figure and another male figure standing next to the two cyclopes where the Children of Oberon were paying fealty to Oberon himself. I know they were most likely Children of Oberon, but who are they exactly?
2. Who was Oberon's father?
