What happened to the mortal child traded for Morgana? Is it dead?

Greg responds...

No.

What was that thing in Pendragon? Was it a actual dragon or was it a gargoyle seeing that it was protecting the sword?

Greg responds...

Neither. It was a stone statue brought to life by powerful magicks.

You said that there was actually an internal reason for all these heroes being reawakened in the Gargoyles Universe including Goliath and the clan. Could you tell us the reason? If not was this the same reason that Arthur was originally taken to Avalon?

Greg responds...

I could. I won't right now though.

There's connective tissue all over the place, but I don't feel like elaborating.

So Greg, have you decided what the next contest is going to be? The topic may help motivate people to finish this one.

Greg responds...

I have a few ideas, but will probably take a breather first.

Apologia (June, '01)

Sorry, I've been so derelict in "Answering Greg" recently.

It's true that voice directing Team Atlantis has filled a bit of my time, but the fact is that what's really keeping me busy is preparations for the GATHERING (June 22-25 at the Universal Sheridan in Los Angeles).

We've been confirming guests for the last few weeks, and though unfortunately we've lost four of what might be described as "our heavy hitters", the fact remains that we have confirmed OVER FORTY special guests for the convention. Since the most we've EVER had was FOUR, I think you'll agree that this is likely to be the biggest and best Gathering to date.

Anyway, I have about twenty minutes now to answer some questions... and right before the Gathering, I'm going to my in-laws for a few days. If they've got their Web-TV set up, I should have some free time to answer a bunch of questions while I'm there. So keep your fingers crossed.

And I'll see you at the Sheridan.

What did Oberon do during his 1,000 years of living among the human masses? It doesn't seem he was much humbled or changed.

Greg responds...

He wasn't. But he did a lot. More than I can relate here.

did you think we'd have 74 by now? are we guessing too hard? have we even got close? are we on the right track?

Greg responds...

No more clues. (You still don't have it.) And yes, I thought it would be done by now.

2198 contest:

517: revamped
517: reworked
517: tinkered (isn't correct in the sentence grammatically, but I'm running out 8 letter past tense verbs that haven't been used yet. Besides, I like those first two. I'm hoping one is correct)

074: ethnicity
074: territory
074: integrity
I liked diversity too. I'm surprised it wasn't right.

Greg responds...

None of the above are correct. Sorry. Keep trying.

*LOL* Matt, I actually thought you had lost your mind there for a minute. But you forgot a few, like:

-What do the Lost Race look like?
-Who is the newest addition to the Pack?
-Do/did dragons exist in the Gargoyles universe?
-How did the Phoenix Gate end up in Elena's dowry?
-Who are Demona's next two loves?
-How did Xanatos's mother die? Or Malcolm's wife or Hudson's mate?
-Do Gargoyles leave marks on hardwood floors?

See Greg, you still have a few secrets left. ;) Out of curiosity, which of the questions that Matt and I brought up are you least likely to answer some day, and which are you most likely to answer?

Greg responds...

I already answered one. Many are (I hope) likely to be answered some day. If I have my way.

hey Greg!

what did Titania whisper to Fox in "The Gathering"?

where will Arthur and Griff find Merlin?

who is Lexington's mate?

how will Goliath and Elisa have a child?

did Iago have a mate? does he have a kid on Avalon?

what are the answers to 74 and 517 in the G2198 contest?

where do Jade and Turquesa go when they leave Avalon?

will Puck's prophecy from "Future Tense" come true?

how will Macbeth and Demona die?

will Jason Canmore ever be healed from his injuries?

will Xanatos and Fox have anymore children?

who will Delilah end up with?

and please fell free to describe the origens, workings and all available information concerning the Illuminati, the Korean Clan, the Space Spawn, locations and dates of Brooklyn's Timedancing, the story behind Hudson's death, the Redemption Squads adventures, Una's childhood, how the Banche regains her voice, Demona/Angela relationship, the economy of Ishimura, and what your favirote color is...

just kidding! April Fools!!!

Greg responds...

I will answer one of those questions.

"No."

Have fun guessing which one.

Thanks for warning me that it's April 1st, by the way.

As it's June when I am, I could have easily gotten fooled by the posts that follow, I imagine.

sorry, should've added this one onto the last post...

Broadway was Hudson's third biological child... which means Hudson had no offspring in Bronx or Angela's generation but he did in Goliath and Demona's generation and the generation before that. am i right about all this? ok, good.

was Hudson the oldest gargoyle in the clan in 994? in 1996 is he the oldest gargoyle in the world?

i've been thinking about Hudson alot lately and i kinda wished he could've gone on the world tour with Goliath and Co., i would have liked to see his reaction to returning to Wyvern and meeting the other clans, but i suppose it was for the best that he remained in New York with the trio, i think they would've had a tough time without him AND Goliath, particularly Brooklyn.

Greg responds...

I can't confirm your second paragraph. I don't have that info with me, and I've made mistakes about this before, so I don't want to be in error again.

As for your third paragraph, not necessarily. And not likely.

I tend to agree with fourth paragraph assessment.

Greg responds...

1. No. Human sorcery.
2. A Mayan wizard.
3. Well, sure. But this was done centuries ago. Fed Ex was not yet in business.

Sorry Greg, I realized that I had an episode spelling error (because I know how you feel about spelling). In my last post the episode should be "Legion" not "Legend." For some strange reason, whoever created the video tape label on my tapeset spelled it "Legend". Thanks to matt for helping me realize my mistake... :)

Greg responds...

No prob.

in "Shadows of the Past", did the stone clan that Hakon and the Captain created each look like actual gargoyles that died in the massacre, as in Goliath would recognize them individually?

Greg responds...

Theoretically. The Captain knew them all personally.

1) Can gargoyles experience any of the sleep disorders defined by humans?

2) Does a gargoyle somehow feel (or otherwise notice) the difference between being unconscious during the night and being in stone hibernation during the day?

3) Can gargoyles oversleep or stay up past their bedtime?

Greg responds...

1. Not exactly, but perhaps others or related problems.

2. Yes. Two different things. This is something Michael Reaves and I specifically discussed very early on. Should the Gargs turn to stone when knocked unconscious? We agreed they weren't similar states, really.

3. Not by much.

If a gargoyle took up smoking, would he or she experience health problems over time, or would the rejuvenating effects of the sun negate the damage?

Greg responds...

To make a point, I'm going to say that smoking would have long term dilitorious (did I spell that right) effects.

I have read that the gargoyles are reptils, but Bronx is a gargoyle too. Bronx could be a reptil too, but, does this mean that Goliath, Demona, Brooklyn..., are from the same specie than Bronx?
The same if the humans are from the same specie than the dogs.

Greg responds...

Gargoyles and Gargoyle Beasts are neither reptiles nor mammals (including dogs), though they share qualities of each.

They are gargates.

In response to your question about a gargoyle using some form of timetravel to poof into a daylight situation, you said that it was something of a pavlovian response. Does this mean that Gargoyles can, if they chose to exert however much effort it took to do this, change their sleepcycles or their sleepques?

Greg responds...

It is briefly possible. Not over anything resembling a long haul. Their biological internal clocks are fairly tyrannical and attuned.

Ok forgive me if this is confusing but this is the only way I could figure out how to word this question. You have mentioned that a Time Dancing Brooklyn would be a character in 2198. Now, since Brooklyn come home eventually, wouldn't a ver old Brooklyn also be present? or at least Nashville and Tachi? What I am asking is during his Time Dancing wouldn't Brooklyn encounter older versions of himself, Katana, Nashville and Tachi? Seeing as how they do come home, thus are a part of the timestream from 1996 on?

Thanks again!

Greg responds...

They did come home, but do the math as to whether it's feasible that they'd still be alive in 2198.

A few questions on "Legend" mainly some technical quarks, I noticed:

1. Who had the idea for designing the animation for the inside circuitry of Coldstone? I know its just a cartoon, but those gates that were opening and closing with electricity when Coldstone was repairing himself, I guess were supposed to be transistors, but looked nothing like them.
2. Who also, had the idea for the computer virus? Not exactly the way I'd see a virus, maybe in a biological sense. Nevertheless I guess it's how it's perceived by the person in contact with it, mainly Goliath, Coldstone, etc.
3. What caused Coldstone to go after the government-related data? It seemed as if the programming were controlling his actions, not one of the three souls trapped within him. He looked as if he were moving on impulse giving me the impression that someone else (maybe Xanatos) was controlling him remotely.
4. Even if one of the three souls (probably the hated one) was controlling him, what purpose would it want with government-related data on weapons systems? (That being if Coldstone was not being controlled remotely by someone else.)
5. How do the police boats coming after Matt B.'s VR device not notice the gargoyles? Surely someone would have noticed something seeing how they were in the middle of the bay, and the only means of escape for the gargs would be to liftoff.
6. At the end, Xanatos is sitting in front of his computer looking at what I guess is the virus running on it. If the virus were the most potentially-dangerous computer virus created thus far, why did it not destroy any of the files on his computer? Or did it?

Greg responds...

I assume you're talking about "Legion". We didn't have an episode called "Legend". At least not in the first 66.

1. Don't remember.

2. That would have been, me and/or the story editors and/or the writers.

3. Xanatos' programming. Some of which was broadcasted.

4. See above.

5. Uh, fog?

6. Safeguards? Maybe it was running on an isolated system.

I read your list of characters ages (from about three weeks ago) and you gave Alex's tentative birthdate as 7/9. That's the same day as mine! Cool!

More later

Greg responds...

I can't confirm that Phil, because I'm at home and my timeline is at the office. But it is cool. I assume there are years separating you two. OR else, you're quite the prodigy.

I was watching my tape of "The Thrill of the Hunt" some minutes ago, and found myself noticing something (which I may have caught before, but didn't think to mention before now). When Dingo's commenting at the beginning about how soft the Pack's been getting, he says that in his current condition, he wouldn't last over a week in a Central American war. I find that comment rather amusing now, because two of the Pack-members (though Jackal and Hyena, rather than Dingo himself) DO get involved in a sort-of Central American war in "The Green". I don't know if you intended a connection there or not, but I thought that I'd mention it.

Greg responds...

At that stage I didn't. No way I could have predicted "The Green" way back then. But who knows. Maybe we were tapping in again...
