First I want to say that I loved your work since I was a kid. I'm 22 now and I liked Gargoyles when it was in first, only to positively love it when I caught it in reruns during my teen years. Spectacular Spider-Man is probably my second favorite super-hero cartoon of all times (and I've sought out most of them), second only to Young Justice. Icon is one of my favorite characters/series of all times and it just blows my mind that you've included him and Rocket on the show. On to the questions (I apologize if they stray into spoiler territory, I'm trying to "ask the right questions" as it were):

1) Connor seemed to take the revelation that he was named for an old sitcom character in stride. Have he and M'gann discussed how long she'd been "crushing" on him before they started dating, meaning he's unsurprised by the revelation? Like, since he's now found out that she modeled herself on the show's main character, he's not surprised that she suggested her crush take the name of Megan's crush from the show. Or did he just not particularly care there the name came from?

2) This one probably strays into spoiler territory but you say there weren't really super-heroes between the disbanding of the JSA and the debut of Superman in the relative present. However, you've also made reference to there being an Original Black Canary and there are several super-villains who are middle aged or older (Icicle, Tigress, and Sportsmaster in particular). Does that mean there simply weren't publicly known (or well known) super heroes and villains during the interim?

3) Is there any chance of seeing some of the background information for the show (like from the timeline and series bible, which seriously seem far more carefully planned than the DCnU) published somewhere? Something like the Allspark Almanacs for Transformers Animated.

And those are the only two questions I have that I think have a chance of not being spoilers. I have so many I'd like to ask about Icon and Rocket, but considering their comic book origins there are a load of implicit spoilers in even asking "how long have they been active?"

Dear Mr. Weisman,

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to what you do. I have to express extra gratitude for the "Dangerous Wounds" Gargoyle episode. That lesson stuck by me through my childhood and now as an adult. I'm glad I got to learn gun control from a cartoon and not from a real life experience. Unfortuneately a neighbor of mine was not so fortune. This happened years ago but I to this very day I wonder if every child/teen saw that episode maybe there would be less gun related accidents. Just want to say your message came across strong to at least some people.

I also got into Young Justice and I know there are messages of teamwork, responsibility, honesty, and bravery in the storyline. All are great values to instil to children and adults alike.

Besides these basic morals and values, is there an underlying message you want to get across to today's audience?

I wish you the best success hope Young Justice will be signed for many more seasons.

Sorry to ask another question, but I just wanted to say Artemis has come to be the breakout character of the show for me, and I guess I just had a question.

Obviously the writers took a lot of liberties with the character for the sake of fitting your adaptation (which I'm always a fan of seeing BTW!) and I've noticed that to a certain degree, bits of Artemis' backstory in the show resemble that of Cassandra Cain, who was the third Batgirl. Particularly making her parents members of the League of Shadows and having a white, blonde father and an Asian mother, and of course becoming a superhero to move away from her parents' lifestyle.

So I was just wondering, were some of these similarities intentional, or just a coincidence?

In "Revelations", Mace Malone managed to get Goliath into the Hotel Cabal. The episode made it clear that the hotel (and Mace as it's caretaker) existed to extract information from individuals and Mace specifically told Goliath that he wanted answers from him.

I'm curious, what exactly did the Illuminati want to know so badly that Goliath knew? The existence of the Manhattan Clan and their link to Elisa was provided to them by Xanatos. If they wanted more of their backstory and how and why gargoyles from 10th Century Scotland ended up in 1995 Manhattan, it seems it would've been easy enough to simply ask Xanatos for that information, assuming Xanatos hadn't already told them that stuff as well. And the existence, purpose and nature of gargoyles in general hardly seems like something the Society wouldn't already be aware of. So what else is there? What else did the Illuminati think or know that Goliath knew that was so important that it would need to be forced out of him?

I imagine this question is just begging for a "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.", but I thought I'd ask just in cause I've missed something or you were feeling generous.

In July 2008, Chip asked you "Do Leo and Una have any biological children, and have we seen them so far in the comics?" and you responded "Lunette is theirs. That wasn't meant to be a secret. Leo + Una = Lunette."

Did you mean that this wasn't meant to be a secret from us or did you mean that Leo and Una and the London Clan themselves are aware of Lunette's biological parentage? You've said in the past that the London Clan continues to raise their young in the Gargoyle Way, but they are not blind. Despite the communal parenting, do they generally have a good idea about which hatchling came from which couple? And was Lunette's name, and it's Leo+Una-like pronunciation more than a coincidence. Was the name given to her because the Clan knew her parentage?

Ok, this isn't about Gargoyles, though I loved the show. This is about Young Justice. I tried finding another way to contact you, but ultimately this will have to do. The point of this question is about Robin's preocupation with the word Whelm. My question is, has anyone actually looked into this word? I did, and as such have the answer that he so desperately grasps for. The reason no one is ever simply Whelmed is because Overwhelm and Whelm have the same meaning. To cover over completely as with water, to overpower. Whelm simply fell into disuse because overwhelm sounds better. Therefore his desire to simply stay whelmed actually accomplishes nothing.

Personally I'd like to see someone explain it to him at a properly dramatic moment, just to make his life that much harder just then.

Greetings, Mr. Weisman. Allow me to compliment this wonderful series known as Young Justice you and your team have created. Every episode seems to leave me on the edge of my seat. I only have three questions to ask.

1. The design of the Wayne Manor exterior is amazing. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it, both in Issue #0 and onscreen in "Downtime." I'm curious, though. Was your design influence by other incarnations of the manor (such as the live action movies and tv shows and the various animated series) or is this an original design?

2. In "Infiltrated," the League of Shadows attempted to steal knowledge from Wayne Tech. And in Issue #12, Clayface was delivered to the Wayne Foundation. a) Is Wayne Tech a single company, or is it part of the much larger Wayne Enterprises? b) The Wayne Foundation is a charity building and therefore separate from Wayne Tech, correct?

3. Also in reference to Issue #12, I'm not sure if I'm just slow or if it wasn't supposed to be obvious, or perhaps I'm just way off my mark here, but would I be right in assuming that Lucius Fox does not know the true identities of Batman and Robin?

I have recently been very interested in following up a lot of the historical references that were shown to me from Gargoyles. Especially the stories of Macbeth, Gillecomgain and the rest of the Scottish history as well as the story in the SLG comics about the Stone of Destiny. Upon further research, I can see that all of these characters and all the historical references are based on true historical events. You must have spent a great deal of time researching all this information.

My question is: What made you go into so much detail about the history of Scotland and Britain and was it through mere interest or just following up from where you decided to initially place the Gargoyles at Castle Wyvern in Scotland?

I have learnt SO much about my own nation's (Scottish) history from following up references from Gargoyles. Information that I would have never been remotely interested in learning if it wasn't presented to me by Gargoyles. I think it is amazing what you did with Gargoyles. I only wish that you could do even more!!

I looked it up just to be safe to see if it was approved and it wasn't there... I'll give you the first five questions, which were in regards to the highly anticipated Young Justice: Invasion. PLEASE understand that NONE of these questions are asking for sensitive information (ie. the overall plot, episode summaries, etc.). All these questions that I give you are asked in a careful manner so that there would be no risk of leaking any sensitive information whatsoever. If any of them do, just ignore that specific question. Besides, I'm guessing by the time you respond to this, Season One will be officially over, and we'll be waiting for months with anticipation for Season Two, so hopefully no harm should be done in this posting. So here we go, again!

1. By the time Season One of Young Justice is over, what is moral of the entire season that we will have learned? For Season Two, what is the moral we are expected to learn? There's always something important to learn; that's the fact of life.

2. If the theme of Season One is all about secrets and lies, then what is the theme that we should expect from Season Two? I'm guessing that while it's different from that of Season One, it's just as equally important.

3. From a list of adjectives, which are the best examples to describe the upcoming Season Two? (ie. heart-pounding? exciting?)

4. From a list of adjectives, which are the best examples to describe the positions of each of the members of The Team (where they stand) as they transition from the events of Season One to the events of the upcoming Season Two? (ie. depressing? heart-breaking?)

A couple of Coldhearted questions:
I noticed Aquaman and Aqualad seemed to have little protection from the cold compared to the members of the Team. Was this a deliberate choice to show that they and other Atlanteans have a resilience to cold temperatures?

It was implied that the Zeta tube system could reach Seattle if it was active. Just how widespread is the system? Does it focus on the home cities of League and Team members, and other large American cities? Can it reach large foreign cities?

So far we have seen stealth outfits and arctic outfits. Will we see other alternate
uniforms as the series progresses?

First off, I'd like to thank you for a great run on shows. I've been a fan since I was watching Gargoyles as a kid.

Second, I have just one question for you. In some versions of the character, Captain Marvel is shown to have the six figures that empower him communicating him after he transforms into the Big Red Cheese. Whether it's actual conversations, general feelings, talking to him in Billy's dreams, or just whispering advice and commands into his head, it's there. Then again, in some versions there isn't any kind of communication and they just give him their powers.

Does this occur in this version of the good Captain?

I have three questions concerning Revelation.

1. It was only after Ivy's plant was blown up by Robin, that Count Vertigo gave orders to kill the team. Obvious reason aside (we won't have a show if he killed them at the start), why did he bother to take them prisoner? Assuming he planned to use them as superhuman shields against the JLA, why did the calculus change once the plant was gone? Wouldn't the team be more valuable as hostages to use as a bargaining chip for safe passage?

2. You have provided a list of incantations in a previous post (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=13947), but it does not include the spell Wotan used to strengthen Ivy's baby. I am hearing "Ra letu do, ut seo!" which Google Translate renders as "Bestow death's role as a sphere", but I would love some official confirmation.

3. "Coldhearted" shows Count Vertigo calling in favors from the Light, presumably in exchange for services rendered in Revelation. Vandal Savage's personal involvement implies that Vertigo was fully aware of his acting as a proxy for the Light. Events in "Misplaced" indicate Wotan was aware of this as well, since he was aiding Klarion. Were the other conspirators (Black Adam, Poison Ivy, Atomic Skull, Ultra-Humanite, and especially Joker) aware of this as well?

Hi Greg!

I just finished watching Coldhearted, and thought it was great (as was Misplaced, BTW... loved Billy). I was expecting Wally to have a bigger reaction to the reveal of Miss M and Superboy's relationship, but this made perfect sense, demonstrating the superficiality of his feelings. The episode's final act was especially well-written, I thought... I was suckered into believed that the queen was dead BOTH times! My only small complaint is Wally's final line... bit of a groaner. But he is kind of a cheeseball, so I guess it fits.

A couple questions:

1. Do Conner Kent and Megan Morse have legal guardians? If so, can you tell us who they are?
2. I assume you get first dibs on which episodes you get to write. Were there any you were especially excited about? Were there any you wanted to write but couldn't, for whatever reason?

Even if the season 2 vol1 didn't sell very many copies doesn't mean you can't release the rest of the season there are people out there who would buy the rest of the seasons like myself I Love gargoyles an I wish you would have released these an you still should right now you can't watch them anywhere except on tv an they come on at 4 in the morning that's unfair. Allow me to shower you with praise. Coldhearted was excellent. I cannot believe I ignored this show until my nephew wanted to watch it one day. At first I was skeptical, that "just another kid cartoon" feeling, so I was only half paying attention. But something got to me and I started watching it seriously. And now, here I am, looking forward to it every week with enough enthusiasm to now get me out of bed on a Saturday morning. Cartoon Network needs to stop throwing hiatuses at you, this show is too good for that.

My nephew is five and loves the show too, though he doesn't always understand what's going on. But, he's five, so I do my best to explain things in ways he can understand. I'm glad there's a show that he likes that enriches him rather than just keeps him occupied, and it's something we can watch together(seriously, most of his other shows make me want to pull my hair out)

Firstly, I would like to say I am a Brobdingnagian fan of Young Justice. My best friend calls my adoration for your show a disturbing obsession, I chose to ignore that interruption because it implies that my love for the show is somehow unhealthy, and that's just ridiculous. After all my best friend also questioned my love of W.I.T.C.H, so clearly he can't understand. But on a serious note, I am truly grateful for all the work and creativity you and your team put into the show. As someone who grew on the Justice League Unlimited am so glad there is finally a show like it, but yet so different and fresh. The quality of the writing and animation make Young Justice so much more than just a cartoon, it is quality storytelling and a heck of a good time.

My question is on the Young Justice comic tie-ins. During the break between season 1 and season 2, will the comic continue coming out or will it also take a break?

On a side note, am from a small country called Zambia in Southern Africa; so Mr Weisman, take pride in knowing that even in this small corner of the world, your show has an obsessed fanboy.

I loved 'Misplaced', I think it was the best episode of the series yet. Some questions about it then.

1) In 'Misplaced', there's a scene where Billy Batson climbs a fence to get in that airbase... and then the 'camera' zooms out, and we see there's a wide-open door to that fence, only 10 meters away or so.

I laughed out loud when I noticed it, but if it was intentional it was played so subtly that I didn't *actually* notice it when I first watched the ep.

So my question: Was that an intentional visual joke, or just a goof of the animation?

2) Was the character of Amber a pre-existing character from the Captain Marvel comics, or a new creation?

3) Was she friends/acquaintances with Billy Batson, or did he just meet her in the ep?

Hi, firstly I wanted to say I really love the series and YJ has come back with two great episodes! Misplaced and Coldhearted were wonderful, and I loved how you developed the relationship between Zatanna and Zatarra, as well as getting a more indepth look into Wally. In downtime, it was revealed that Aqualad does not live in Atlantis since joining the team. I was wondering, where does he live while on the surface? cuz it was never implied that he lives in mount justice and I dont believe that he does.

And i was also wondering, why didn't he just remain in Atlantis and continue his studies there, inbetween his missions? Everyone except Miss M and Superboy still live in their homes, continue their schoolwork, and can travel via Zeta tubes to the base. Why can't Aqualad also stay in Atlantis, practice in his sourcery school, and travel via Zeta tubes to the base, when almost all the other members already do that already?

Alright, I'm probably overthinking this, but I was curious about how the spell in "Misplaced" worked. It split the world into two dimensions, one for adults and one for children. I assumed it was based on physical difference (which is why the ageless Klarion ended up with the children and Billy-as-Captain-Marvel went with the adults). But Amber switching over at midnight once she turned 18 seemed to throw that out the window. So, was it simply psychological? Did Klarion and the others designate 18 as an arbitrary "cutoff point" for adulthood when casting? Or is it something else entirely?

(Again, probably overthinking, but it's been bothering me. Oh, and great job on the show, of course. I'm really loving it!)

Okay, just saw Image.....and it sort of showed that Megan was not the mole that Sportsmaster and the Light mentioned, yet Queen Bee seems to be trying, as Megan did not say yes or no.....to get her own. Does that mean that the Light is trying to rip the team apart themselves....with their own moles? And, if this shows that Megan is not the mole........then who is? The last one is retorical, as I know you will not say.

Um....is it too much to ask as to possibly verify that Megan was not the mole that Sportsmaster and the Light said so earlier?

hey greg let me down the big fan of your shop I was wondering since we seen kid flash get his own little episode and we're going to see it miss martian Artemis and Connor get own episodes will we see robin get his little episode as well ? Robin first introduced me into the super hero world and so I am I really like and then you've done a really great job bringing jesse mccartney into it and it's superb. it seems like you're not using him as much as the other members came and robin is just so great how you've created him I wanna see more and more of robin that's my question will we see more Robin ? thank you

In "Coldhearted", Batman mentioned that "both Green Lanterns were offworld". But we have seen three Green Lanterns. John Stewart in multiple episode, Guy Gardner in "Revelation", and Hal Jordan in the simulation in "Failsafe". You could also count Alan Scott from flashbacks. Could he have meant that there are two Green Lanterns that are officially part of the JLA? Could it be because Batman does not like one of the Green Lanterns, a "One-Punch incident"? Or could it be a mistake by one of the scriptwriters?

In the episode 20 of Young Justice we see an attempt against princess Perdita's live by her uncle, Count Vertigo. But we do see another attempt against her in the Green Arrow Showcase that accompanies Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. My question is: Does this two murder attempts occur in the same universe (and by extent, the Supes/Bats movie), Earth-16?

Again, really great work by you and your cast and crew on Young Justice. Just looking to eat up some more of your time with questions and commentary.

1. I liked your take on the Riddler; the jacket and tie is a nice change from the suit or spandex with bowler that he typically wears. I also thought it did a great job of showing a casualwear look that is still leaves him instantly recognizable.

2. This might just be me reading too closely into things but I noticed that the designs for the Joker and Riddler seem to take cues from musical subcultures. The Joker's design seems to me very Mod inspired while the Riddler wouldn't look out of place in a rockabilly band. Was this an intentional design choice or a simple coincidence?

I've been a fan of the new 52 and I was wondering if there are any plans to incorporate the new universe by any means into Young Justice.
I do know a similar question was asked if new 52 will change the whole YJ and you said no, but I'm wondering if there would be any elements taken from the current comics in future seasons or would you guys rule out the possibilities?

Also, I'm wondering if the team only accepts legacy characters like kid flash, aqualad, red robin and heroes like that because all the current heroes have their adult counterpart, so I'm wondering if it is a criteria to join the team only if they're connected to the Justice League.

Lastly, thanks for the great work. I love Young Justice and the only thing that could make it better is that we get even more Young Justice.
