Whew, finally finished an archive crawl regarding Lex Luthor to make sure this hasn't been asked before...

Anyhow, I know this is toeing the line as far as NO SPOILERS goes, but you answered a similar question regarding Aunt May.

What is the 'core truth' of Lex Luthor, and how did you interpret this in YJ?

Greg responds...

I don't know about SPOILERS, but this definitely falls into the category of what's on screen is what you get. But I'll give it a bit of a shot.

This isn't, of course, the Lex Luthor I grew up with. I grew up with something closer to Mad Scientist Lex. But the character has undergone a real sea-change since those days. The newer version (which is at least thirty years old at this point) is a sophisticated and smooth wheeler-dealer. Our version is ALSO a brilliant scientist, but you'd never know it given what we've put on screen. He's also a captain of industry. Very unflappable. He is Man and his resources at a pinnacle as an opposite number to Superman and his powers. He's someone that Superman can't punch, which makes him more dangerous than all of Superman's other opponents put together.

What inspired you to create Young Justice?

Greg responds...

Okay, for starters, I didn't 'create' Young Justice.

BRANDON VIETTI and I adapted Young Justice, based on the DC UNIVERSE. The "inspiration" was our boss at Warner Bros Animation, Sam Register, telling us to do it.

Since Demona is still around as of the Gargoyles 2198 spinoff, that means MacBeth is still around as well. I know you won't discuss any actual plans for the character (SPOILERS!), but can you tell us if you had specific plans for him? Or did the outline for 2198 not get that far?

Greg responds...

I have plans for everyone and everything.

No spoilers.

Hey Greg, How's life?

Anyway, I'm curious to know if any of the team (from YJ) can play any musical instruments? (Any generation of the team).

Thanks for being awesome.

Greg responds...

I'm sure a few can. I haven't thought about it.

You once said that M'gann Is not close to any of her siblings.
1)not even with her white brother?
2)that means that she doesn't love them or miss them At all? Does she miss her parents?
3)Did her siblings (or her mother) ever rejected her or they respect each other because they are family?
4)Does her family knows about her status of hero on earth? Are they proud of Her?

Greg responds...

Did I say that? I mean, did I say that exactly? Or are you paraphrasing? In any case, everything's relative (pun intended).

1. She is relatively close to him.

2. It doesn't mean that. She loves her siblings - all of them, and her parents. She misses them (or most of them) too. But she feels her life is on Earth. Also, don't assume she hasn't been back to Mars.

3. No spoilers.

4. Yes.

4a. Responses vary, but most are proud of her.

Dear Greg, I just wanted to say I'm wishing luck to you and everyone involved with young Justice season 3.
I wanted to ask who are your top 4 favorite robins, and what you like about them.

Greg responds...

Geez, top 4 Robins. How many are there? Dick, Jason, Tim, Stephanie, Damien and Carrie, if you count Dark Knight. Harper, if you count Bluebird, right? Throw in a Bat-Girl and some Batgirls, and you've got Bette, Barbara, Cassandra and Stephanie again. Then Batwoman's Kate. Nightwing's Dick again. Bette again with Flamebird. Barbara again with Oracle. Stephanie again with Spoiler. Luke. Batwing. Ace the Bat-hound. Bat-mite. Cassandra's Orphan. Azrael. Even Clayface. Wow, when you count 'em up, Batman's a protogee machine, isn't he?

And I'm sure I'm leaving some out.

I felt sorry for Billy/Captain Marvel in "Secrets." I imagine that being a superhero doesn't leave him a lot of time to have friends his own age. I'd like to know... After the team learned Captain Marvel's true identity, were they more accepting and understanding of Captain Marvel/Billy desire to "hang" with them?

Greg responds...

I'd like to think so.

But Billy does have friends of his own, too.

This came Out of nowhere (and is a kinda stupid question) but
1)Is Jaime "jealous" because Tye spends time with Asami or Vice versa?
Or he doesn't really mind it ?
2) Does Roy's obsession (with find speedy) represents his addiction to drugs in the comics?

Greg responds...

1. I think he's good with it.

2. On one level. There's also his additction to drugs to represent his addiction to drugs. (At least in my mind.)

Hello Mr Weisman!

I have to say, I loved your work before I even knew it was yours. I remember being bedridden with chicken pox, and obsessing over witch so much that if it wasn't on Jetix at that particular time slot I'd make my dad rent the dvds and watched those to death. It was probably the only thing that captivated my attention enough to stop me from itching myself!

Later on, when I was in Secondary school, spectacular Spider-Man started airing, and me and my brother and my dad would stop everything to go and watch it. 5:00 pm is the perfect timeslot really XD

In my final year of secondary school, during my gcses, young justice started airing. At first I only saw snippets when my brother watched it. I, uh, I didn't rate it at the time. But I was SO wrong. Me, my brother and my dad were off school two weeks earlier than my sisters and my mum, and instead of doing the chores we were supposed to we marathoned both seasons. It's ADDICTIVE as heck!

WITCH, Young Justice and Spectacular Spider-Man were all aired in the UK without much fuss, apparently not the case in the US.

And I'd just like to thank you so much for creating something that my family could bond over. And I am HYPED for the third season.

I know that you've said that the show is in pre pre production, but is there any sort of talk about an international release? Even if it's an overhead snippet, ANYTHING at all to allay my worries would be great.

Thanks so much, keep well!

Greg responds...

I'm sorry. I don't have any info on that. But I imagine it'll eventually be available.

In YJ, Lex referred to Mercy as his attourney, while in previous adaptations she has always been portrayed as his driver/bodyguard (and she seems to be those here as well.)

So what all does Mercy do for Lex aside from those?

Greg responds...

Lex did NOT refer to Mercy as his attorney. Look again.

I'm not saying she's not his attorney, but there is zero evidence to support that notion.

Can you really believe young justice has been revived? Sometimes it feels like when you've woken up from an awesome dream and you're happy because of how awesome it was and how good it felt, but deep down you know it was a dream so you wanna hit the snooze button and get back to it because you're afraid that feeling will go away if you get up... but in this case it is really real!!!!! And that's what makes it so unbelievable! Three months later and I'm still so happy!

Greg responds...

It's May 22nd, as I write this, and it's still fairly surreal. Everytime we start a new part of the process or bring in an actor who worked on the show in prior seasons, it hits us all over again. It's amazingly cool, and we're having a blast.

First, I'm beyond excited about Season Three! Congrats!

Second, while reading the comics, something very much didn't sit right with me -- Red Torpedo/Jim Lockhart. Robots don't eat, sleep (theoretically), or need to use the bathroom. So, did Jim just not do any of that? Also, whenever he changed clothes, wouldn't he have noticed something missing down there? (Unless, T.O. Morrow added that in, I guess...) It just confused me greatly and I'd really appreciate you clearing the subject up. :)

Greg responds...

He's anatomically correct. He can eat and that product goes through him. It doesn't provide anything, but it allows him to mimic being human. He's also programmed to ignore any discrepancies.

I found this on the GargsWiki http://gargwiki.net/File:Archmage%27s_time_loop.png

Did you do that? I still don't fully understand it. How did the loop start? Did the future mage pop out of thin air?

Greg responds...

I didn't make that chart, but it looks correct. And it seems pretty clear to me. It's your question that I don't fully understand.

The "future" archmage was enchanted by himself and goes back in time. From the standpoint of the original archmage, it seemed like he emerged from a portal of fire.

Watch the episodes again.

NoOneSpecial wrote... "Why was Dan Garret's beetle armour different from Jamie's?"
You responded... "Why should it have been the same?"

This was actually a good question. Jaime's armor was pretty much identical to Beetles Black and Green. All three covered their entire bodies and adapted to their bone structure and facial features. Since Black Beetle's real likeness is very humanoid looking, his and Blue's armors look almost identical.

Do the scarabs produce different armor designs from host to host. If so, then why do Blue, Black and Green have pretty much identical armors? If not, why is Dan Garrett's so different from all three? It doesn't even cover is face.

Greg responds...

Keep in mind that by the time Dan got the scarab, it had been cleansed and buried for thousands of years. He probably had scarab adapt the armor to his needs and desires.

1a)Was immediately after she ran away from her home?

And then I Was wondering
2)Isn't she afraid that the shadows will find her someday and kill her or her daughter? (After she betrayed them)

Sorry if I wrote something wrong, english is not my first language.
Anyway thank you for take the time for answer our questions.
P.D: can't wait for season 3.

2. I'd think that would be a concern. At least for her life.

Hello! Just a few questions regarding the Block Buster and it's successor Kobra-Venom in Young Justice
The Kobra-Venom was interesting in the fact that they used it on several species. Various animals, plants and humans. Are there organic species that it can't be used on, and are there different events dependent on species?
Does Block Buster still retain any of his previous intellect or has his transformation rendered him less intelligent?
Are Mammoth and Blockbuster capable of speech?
and finally
Are the areas exposed muscle on the Kobra-Venom subjects more vulnerable than the rest of their bodies?

Greg responds...

1. What you saw is all we know.

2. He seems less intelligent to me.

3. Blockbuster doesn't seem to be. But maybe he doesn't have much to say. Mammoth never spoke BEFORE the transformation, so it's unclear.

4. They don't seem to be.

Hello again Mr. Weisman, I Just Got and read the first 6 issues of the 'Gargoyles' Comics, and here's 1 of the Curious Questions I do have related to them, though it's More like a 3 in 1 question if you don't mind

Between "Invitation Only" and "Bash" Why Does Xanatos Invite Margot Yale and her Husband to his castle? Since He surely does know that She's the Assistant District Attorney and the Adviser to the gargoyle taskforce and is Clearly Against the Gargoyles, doesn't he think it would be too risky because of the Rumors circulating that he's "harboring" the gargoyles? And Does Margot only accept the invitation to Find Proof of the rumors?

I don't know if it's just me, but she certainly seems like the kind of dirty D.A who'd take advantage of her position by any means to get what she wants

Greg responds...

There's nothing in what we've shown of Margot to indicate that she's dirty or corrupt. So I'd be careful with words like that.

I think the stated reasons given in the conversation between Xanatos and Hacker for inviting anyone would apply double to Margot in her position.

As for her showing up to snoop, clearly she didn't. She showed up to socialize with all the right people, including Judge Roebling and others. Whether or not she suspects Xanatos of harboring Gargoyles, she clearly couldn't imagine that he'd just be letting them walk around his party dressed like characters from Wizard of Oz.

You've stated that Quincy Hemings was born in 1900, but he was also on the White House staff since Theodore Roosevelt's administration. Was there a mistake made here or did Quincy get the job as a child? Or neither (somehow)?

He was nine years old when he was first employed at the White House. Of course, he didn't have his current position back then.
