@Paul, great catch! I never noticed that before? Seems almost like Selene is the sister of spitefulness in that case if she set up Demona to be immortal and then constantly hunted? Or maybe that was to make sure she kept up her fighting practice for the Avalon battle? But then I always believed the sisters had more up their sleeves than just preparing for the Avalon battle *shrug*

Somewhat related question: do we know anything about Macbeth's mom, Doada? I get the impression that there was a good age difference between her and her husband Findlaech because he seemed closer to her dad's age. I guess what I'm really wondering is if Macbeth knew his mom at all. Did she die while Macbeth was young? Or was she still alive when Findlaech was killed, we just didn't see her?

I want more gargoyles canon!

More tidbits from "City of Stone" that for some reason I missed the first dozen times I saw it, regarding Canmore and the Weird Sisters.

In the second part, there are two scenes where the Weird Sisters (dressed as maidservants) interact with Duncan and Canmore; it is always Seline who holds Canmore. In the latter of these scenes, the look on Seline's face when Duncan then puts on the Hunter's Mask seems rather... evil.

It makes me wonder if the Weird Sisters (Seline in particular) influenced the rest of the Canmore family in any way. Given how obsessed the Cnamores were with vengeance, and given that Seline was... for lack of a better term, a goddess of vengeance, it seems like something to think about.

And then there was the spell that linked Macbeth to Demona; the terms were that Demona would bring swift death to Macbeth's enemies. And... well, Canmore's descendants were Macbeth's enemies. I like to think that Demona might have continued to fight Macbeth's foes long after she had betrayed Macbeth himself.

Todd: Very cool -- having seen in Clan Building that Macbeth was also present in the Stone's return to Scotland in 1996, its awesome to think his fellow patriots from 1950 were also there . . . funny too, considering the random student/idiot that had to cry out "SCOTLAND FOREVER!" . . . ;)

Found a new book at the library this morning, "Monarchs, Murders and Mistresses: A Book of Royal Days" by David Hilliam, which gives events in the history of British royalty (all the way back to Anglo-Saxon times) for each day of the year. The entry for April 13 covers the Stone of Destiny's return to Westminster Abbey after it was stolen on Christmas 1950, and provides a detailed account of the Stone's history, both legendary and real, familiar to everyone who's read the "Stone of Destiny" story in "Clan-Building Volume Two" (though, needless to say, no mention is made of Macbeth's role in the theft!). There are a few other pieces of information not mentioned in the comic-book story, such as that three of the Scottish students who carried off the Stone in 1950 were present in the crowd when it was returned to Scotland in 1996, and that it was taken one other time out of the Abbey between 1296 and 1950 (Oliver Cromwell had it temporarily moved to Westminster Hall when he was appointed Lord Protector).

LANDON> That is indeed very cool news, I'm wondering if Young Justice: Invasion might be loosly based on the 80s crossover event of the same name for which Greg co-wrote the Captain Atom tie in.

Cartoon Network at their 2011 upfronts have a cool announcement: "Cartoon Network has also announced a special 10-episode Young Justice mini-series dubbed "Invasion" set to air later this year."

That's the extent of the info so far. What I'm most curious about is whether those 10 episodes are part of the initial 26-episode production order or if they've ordered new episodes. Still, a 10-episode animated mini-series by Greg Weisman = EPIC.

Brainiac> Heh, rumbled. Much respect for looking up the meaning of his name as well when I'd claimed that his name actually was "Four".
Supermorff

Supermorff> Actually, his middle name means "household guardian," not "four." Good try, though.

Part of me also thinks Findlaech would have told Macbeth about Mail Brigiti and Gillecomgain, or at least intended to before he was assassinated by the Hunter.

I think the one "hint" (quotes used quite deliberately) that Macbeth learned about the Constantine overthrow in 997 (and by extension, potentially his own family history) was Macbeth's comment to Duncan in "City of Stone, Part III" where he mentions that "there was a time when humans and gargoyles fought side by side; this one and I have a similar history" (first part more related to 997 than the second part, lol)

I do like the idea of Findlaech not getting around to bringing up the family skeletons, however -- if only for the possibility of Bodhe telling Macbeth the story secondhand (and no doubt, missing some key facts) years later when Gillecomgain started getting involved in both their lives (and Gruochs!) once more . . . ;)

Brainiac> Ah, gotcha. Little known fact: Tom Baker's middle name is Four.
Supermorff

Paul> You noticed; good eye. I imagine the fact that the "official" pronunciation of that word in the game's title uses a hard "s" rather than a hard "c" grates on you as well.

Supermorff> Yeah, I know, but since it had been a while, I felt it was appropriate (plus the "someone had to" was more there since it had been quite some time since the room turned and there was still no tenth post).

The thing is, David's stage name has ten IN IT. That makes him far more likely to ever be used (and in the appropriate numeric position) than any other actor who has portrayed The Doctor. As cool as it would be to have a countdown consisting entirely of Doctors, I don't think it'll really work save with Tennant.

Brainiac> I love how you say 'someone had to do it' as if no-one ever has. In the last six months alone, Algernon has done it twice: http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/comment/archive/index.php?archive_date=2011-01-23 and http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/comment/archive/index.php?archive_date=2010-11-01

I'm still hoping one day someone will open the comment room by saying 'William Hartnell', but maybe that's wishful thinking.

Supermorff

Paul> I think that that is an interesting question. If Macbeth did know that Gille was his (half-)cousin then you have to wonder how much that influenced him in saying that to Duncan. If Macbeth didn't know that they were cousins, then the statement is pretty ironic.

I don't think Greg has ever provided an answer to this, and I imagine that if asked he would say that he'd rather leave it to the audiences interpretation. But, I could be wrong. Maybe you should ask him about it. Part of me thinks that Findlaech must've told Macbeth, but I could also see why he wouldn't have, especially up to the point of his death.

PAUL> One can think that cousins should be friends, but still know that it doesn't always happen. Do I think cousins should be friends? Yes. Am I friends with most of mine? Hell no. But there is nothing unrealistic about Macbeth's line even with the circumstances... unless you're expecting the characters to be less human and walking calculators instead.

Given that the below comment is the twelfth post, was that use of "Duodecim" deliberate?

Oh, and on a completely different note... Macbeth said in "City of Stone, Part Three" that since Luach and Canmore were cousins, they should be friends; did he know that Gillecomgain was his cousin?

Paul - [nampahcfluap@yahoo.com]

Antiyonder> No, but I'll be picking up Dissidia Duodecim shortly and I'll be pretending Bartz Klauser is actually Wally West, Tidus is actually Harry Osborn, Chaos is Thailog, Cecil Harvey is Garth, Jecht is Leo, Shantotto is Trill, and Gilgamesh is Mairot.

Algernon's comment about Norman Osborn: One of the neat things about Dark Reign is that it gives Osborn the chance to expand his horizons beyond tormenting a twenty nine year old who still lives with his mom.
