BISHANSKY - Good point.

Though I suspect that it would be some time until Arthur recruited other knights (assuming that Blanchefleur and Merlin don't fall into that category) - as in, until he'd founded some new home base (presumably in Antarctica, since that's where New Camelot's supposed to appear).

TODD> "This is not Britain but a far larger stage."

Arthur, the canon Arthur, was going to operate on a global stage. The other heroes encountered on the World Tour may have their own protectorates that need them, but if Arthur is this global, unifying force, that's not an obstacle.

TODD> I wouldn't rule out Rory or the other international heroes joining Arthur's new knights. After all the original Round Table all had their own solo adventures and lands they were responsible for.

I guess Avalonians such as the Lady of the Lake don't need to cast the "Teleport to Avalon" incantation, so I guess it is more likely that Arthur learned it from Katharine or Goliath instead.

Aleks: The television/merchandising rights for Spider-Man are separate from the film rights. The former was returned to Marvel by Sony years ago, after Disney bought them, specifically as leverage for Sony to keep said film rights (which is how "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" came about).

"Ultimate Spider-Man" was the direct result of Disney/Marvel taking back the television rights to Spidey; they had no reason to continue paying Sony to produce a show with their character, when they could easily produce their own and keep all the attendant revenue.

Like it or not (and I certainly don't, as I think it's awful) "Ultimate Spider-Man" is the show Disney/Marvel want to make, and it's doing quite well for them financially.

In short: because "The Spectacular Spider-Man" is a Sony production, and Sony hasn't had the television rights to Spidey for years, the likelihood of that show coming back in any form is somewhere in the neighborhood of 0%.

Who brought Arthur to Avalon? Could Arthur have overheard that person cast the "Teleport to Avalon" spell?

Hi Greg,
After the news of Marvel using the likeness of Spiderman from Sony in a movie (after people on a legal level and a smaller level said it would never happen), do you think it is possible for similar deal to be made between the two parties regarding Spectacular, as while Ultimate may not be doing bad, Spectacular did a whole lot better than it and fans have been demanding for years for some kind of continuation.
Thanks, Aleks.

I remember (back in the so-long-ago days when I worked on the TGS project) suggesting having Rory become one of Arthur's knights (which was accepted), but I've changed my mind on that since then. The ending of "The Hound of Ulster" left me with the feeling that Rory's place was in Ireland, as its defender. (And I can imagine that an Irish hero entering the service of a British king might not go down well with some.)

For similar reasons, I'm doubtful about the other heroes of the Avalon World Tour joining Arthur; they have their own protectorates which they'd recognize they shouldn't abandon. And I doubt that becoming Arthur's knights would be an option for the Redemption Squad for a long while (though, since both the Squad and Arthur are linked to the Illuminati, an encounter between them at some point seems feasible).

I think Rory might make a good knight, and maybe even the members of the Redemption Squad.

I think Greg has said that Arthurian legend influenced Broadway and Angela to the point that they give their three kids Arthurian names. I don't think a chance meeting with Arthur by both Broadway and Angela is enough to want them to name their kids those names. I think there is a chance one or both of Broadway and Angela could join as one of Arthur's knights.

Just speculation on my part.

I don't see any/many of Arthur's new knights being gargoyles aside from Griff. Could be wrong though. I just suspect that for now he'll have a special place. In the future though, sure. The question remains. I imagine we may have met a future knight or two already. Perhaps some of our heroes from the World Tour or others closer to home.

Regarding Arthur, I was always more curious on who would make up his new Knights of the Round Table so to speak. I imagine it would be made up of a motley group of humans and gargoyles. Perhaps signifying the new relationship between the two species.

Though I imagine it might be too late into the week to merit any real discussion, I though I'd throw this bit of topic/question into the comment room:

Anyways, from the canon-in-training we know, Arthur Pendragon had an earlier venture in the real world (and return to Avalon) before the events of "Pendragon" Like our other World Travelers, Arthur must have known the spell to return to Avalon. So here's what I'm currently pondering . . . who taught him the spell?

The easiest (and likeliest) answer would be Tom (or Angela, who according to AskGreg seems to be the earliest of the World Travelers to know the spell) teaching him off-screen before his boards the skiff, but because Arthur predates every other mortal on the island, I can't help but wonder if he might have already known before he was known as the Sleeping King . . .
