Hey I'm not sure of any other way to contact you so I figured I could hopefully let you know through this. In 2015 you were at momocon and you didn't have a lot of people in your line so I rushed over to get your autograph, I admit I didn't know who you were at the moment but a women asked me and I said I think he makes batman comics... Im pretty sure you heard me and I have felt like such a dick over this last year and meant to apologize in far sooner than this so I'm not even sure if you'd remember it anymore. but you made a show I loved during childhood and I cannot express how terrible I felt after realizing my mistake later on but by then I couldn't find you to apologize in person. So please know that it was an honest mistake and hopefully I'll run into again someday to give you an apology face to face ~sincerely the kid with a sword who sprinted to you to sign it thinking you made batman comics. my email is huntersrealemail@gmail.com if he actually gets this message I'd greatly appreciate it

BISHANSKY - Thanks for the summary.

After reading it, I wondered whether the "absolutely precious" part was intended as a Tolkien joke - at least, it's difficult not to think of Tolkien when the word "precious" is applied to a ring.

TODD> Yeah, we're hoping to have a summary up soon.

Hopefully someone at CONvergence recorded it, too.

Todd Jensen> You have no idea.

No, he doesn't.

No, he DOESN'T!

NO, HE...oh never mind.

There is balance in all things. Live in symmetry with the world around you. If you must blow things up and steal from those around you, THAT'S WHAT RPGS ARE FOR!

On my most recent visits to the GargWiki, I discovered that Greg Weisman has come out with yet another crossover radio play called "Cosmos", which, judging from the list of characters (including Carl Sagan and Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson), seems even more bizarre than its predecessors.

And, for fun, this might have been posted here in the past; Greg Weisman, Marina Sirtis, and Christopher Jones discussing what makes a good villain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujuDIcgJEmg

I'd noticed the similarity between "Raksha" and "Rakshasa" as well.

That's a pretty interesting idea Greg, a pro-gargoyle group that while encourages beneficial human/gargoyle relationship but ultimately causes even more harm by continuing the cycle of violence between the two groups.

Etymologically speaking your leader is pretty interesting too, in Hindu Raksha means "protect or nurture" and that would be ideal for a leader that sought to protect gargoyles from racism and from the Quarrymen. And much like Raksha from "The Jungle Book" who took Mowgli into the pack and cared for him like one of her own cubs so too would the People for Interspecies Triumph help bring gargoyles into modern human society.

And yet Raksha is only a few letters away from Rakshasa a type of demon in Hindu mythology, many of whom could take human form. So how appropriate that their leader would abandon her humanity and by using biological weapons become something monstrous.

Yeah, in the early days of Spec Gargs on formspring, we had a dangerous pro-gargoyle organization. Their leader, whom we called Raksha, learned about Demona specifically (though never met her) and thought she was awesome... confused her for the gargoyles' leader. But, that might also have partly been an excuse to commit acts of violence.

Anyway, we called this organization P.I.T. ... the People for Interspecies Triumph. They were like a supervillain Green Peace. They'd bomb Quarryman rallies and other areas where lots of civilians gathered. At one point, I recall they threatened to bomb Times Square if Castaway didn't hand himself over to them for execution.

Their leader, Raksha, at one point, after meeting Sevarius, mutated herself into a gargoyle-mutate... think what Sevarius almost did to Hunter in #4 of Bad Guys. She then tried to mate with Goliath... which failed miserably. Then, she decided, as her way of being helpful to force such a mutation on Elisa Maza while hiring Sevarius to create a carrier virus to mutate everyone at a Quarryman rally, including Castaway, into gargoyle-like mutates.

The gargoyles foiled Raksha's plan, and then Demona killed Raksha (pretty brutally as I recall)... let's say Demona thought that a human having the gall to make herself into a gargoyle or anything close disgusted her.

I doubt that those who compose advertising jingles put too much thought into their philosophical ramifications.

A creativity demon I recently had and thought I'd share with you. We've discussed in the past how one of the major flaws of the "Goliath Chronicles" was the Quarrymen being handled as generic villains - i.e., just indulging in straightforward violent attacks to kill the gargoyles, with stratagems that didn't make sense in light of their supposed motivations (as in, if they believe the gargoyles are evil monsters, why do they set up staged crimes or people in need as bait for a trap?). But I thought of one way in which that sort of behavior might fit for the Quarrymen of regular "Gargoyles" - in a way.

In this hypothesis, somebody wants to deliver a serious blow against the Quarrymen (the candidate I thought of was a fanatical pro-gargoyle organization that Greg Bishansky had proposed here some time ago) - aimed especially at their public image. This person or group has some people dress in Quarryman uniforms and go around the city, making violent attacks on human targets that could be considered connected to gargoyles (say, shops selling regular stone gargoyles as decorations) - maybe even pro-gargoyle groups that the leader of this organization views as too soft (i.e. inclined towards more peaceful means of working for harmony between humans and gargoyles) and therefore, in his eyes, worth sacrificing for the cause. Castaway, of course, at once, publicly disavows these actions, but all that the general public know is that people in Quarryman uniforms engaged in these deeds, and how do they know whether they were genuine Quarrymen or impostors, given that those uniforms and hoods conceal everything and that the Quarrymen are anonymous? No way of telling....

Paul> Perhaps the commercial makers meant "Evil" as an abstract concept, for is it not the evil within us all that is truly the greatest foe of our tiny plastic defenders of the night?

"When the gargoyles come alive, evil won't survive"... I'm sure I liked that idea when I was a kid, but it's inconsistent with Goliath's reluctance to kill in cold blood (as established in "Awakening, Part Four".)

I guess that as I grew up I developed a taste for stories in which those who try to "kill" evil ultimately become evil themselves. I remember particularly liking Diablo I for that reason.

Gargoyles probably had something to do with that, too; Elisa's warning that "If you [kill Xanatos], you're the same as Demona" was a sentiment that I appreciated better in my 20s than when I was 10, but I'm probably a better person for having heard it when I was 10.

Thank you for keeping this alive. Any idea where I can get more gargoyles wav clips? Would be grateful.

Adios, Xanatos!!!

"When Gargoyles come alive... Evil won't survive!"

Guess they didn't know about Demona.

I'm still at the hotel I stayed at for CONvergence; my flight is in a little under three hours. But eventually, I will be home and perhaps I will have time to post about my experiences then.

FIRST!

Just saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child -- #keepthesecrets and all that, naturally, but to be honest, I'm still processing the whole thing d:

Hope everyone had a wonderful time at CONvergence 2016, and fingers crossed we all get to hear about that new Radio Play soon :)
