Here in Phoenix, PBS will be re-airing this evening at 7 p.m. (local time) a documentary called "Secrets of Westminster". (I don't know if it'll be doing the same in other parts of the country; comparing the local PBS station's schedules in Phoenix and St. Louis, where I used to live, has taught me a lot about regional variations. I suggest checking with your local PBS station for details.) It includes some talk about the Stone of Destiny and its history - they even had an interview with one of the Scottish students who carried it off in 1950 - which should make it of some interest to "Gargoyles" fans.

They're also not difficult to make yourself, as long as you've got a computer with a disc drive and have the DVDs handy.

Boot up the episode, pause at the scene you want to screencap, use the "Print Screen" key to grab the image, and edit it in any photo software you like. MS Paint works fine, and if you're using a Mac, I'm sure they've got an easy-to-use equivalent.

I used to do it all the time back when we were doing the Spring RP.

Doesn't cover the whole show, but these are good screencaps: http://www.cap-that.com/gargoyles/

I'm still looking for screencaps of gargoyles from other clans, particularly the Avalon Clan and Ishimura Clan. High quality screencaps of these gargs are hard to find ever since Lynati's Screencap Heaven became defunct.

And on the subject of Gargoyles in non-English languages, I know Greg has said he'd have loved if more of the World Tour episodes in particular were in other languages and subtitled. Parts of those episodes, I mean. Like the beginning of Bushido (before Goliath and Co show up) should've been in Japanese with subtitles until they switch to English for Goliath's benefit. If anyone ever makes a fan dub like that it'd be very interesting to watch!

Inland: Thank you for that link! I fell in love with the show thanks to the Latin American Spanish dub and always wondered who did the voices. They always showed the original credits after every episode.

Definitely appropriate, in light of Ellen's fashion sense. :)

I don't know if there was ever a Japanese dub.

But a cast made out of Eva actors would be a dream!

I was mainly curious about the Japanese cast. Me and my friends were watching Possession today and I was just struck at how perfect Akira Ishida would be in the role (Kaworu from Neon Genesis Evangelion, . Given the fact that I believe he was active at the time I was curious if he'd played him. Not even actually sure if there is a Japanese dub of Gargoyles, though.

It's totally random. But anyone who knows Japanese voice actors might sort of understand my wacky ramblings.

Aldrius

Aldrius: I've never seen alternative cast lists online, best bet would to obtain the VHSs and see the credits. I've seen the Spanish and maaaybe German pilot/"The Movie" on Ebay before. All the foreign episode uploads I glanced at on Youtube had the credits cut out. But maybe if you look deeper...

Anyone here know where I can find the foreign casts of Gargoyles?

Like the actors who played them in Japanese, French, etc.?

Sort of a weird request but I was curious and couldn't find it.

Vinnie> Seriously, no respect for the Manhattan Clan themselves? Forshame.

Paul> No, Labyrinth, not Ishimura. Though I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to know Ishimuran-based clones will wind up in the Labyrinth eventually.

Algernon> Impressive front, but the lack of anything on the back is a touch unfortunate.

Today is the anniversary of Macbeth's defeat by Canmore at Lunfanan Hill in 1057. I have a book of poems for each day of the year, that chose the "Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow" passage from Shakespeare's "Macbeth" to mark the day. I've sometimes wondered what the "Gargoyles" Macbeth must have thought of that passage.

August 15 is also the birthday of Napoleon and Sir Walter Scott, and the anniversary of another early medieval battle with a major impact on literature: the Battle of Roncesvalles, which led to "The Song of Roland".

If you've ever taken a road trip through the Pacific northwest, you've probably seen a bumper sticker for a place called Gravity Falls. It's not on any maps, and most people have never heard of it. Some people think it's a myth. But if you're curious, don't wait. Find it. It's out there somewhere in the woods. Waiting.
