I know you're not on top of the products and sales, but how come Gargoyles season 2 vol 1 is out of stock everywhere while vol 2 and season 1 are readily available? Same with the Clan-Building comics, even if I want to buy a used version, it says it costs $1000 on amazon. So is there ever going to be a re-release of the products with its resurgence on Disney+?
I'm sorry, I just have no idea. I'm not consulted on these things. I've been trying to get them to rerelease the entire SLG run of comics for some time. But no luck yet.
Hey, thanks for hours of entertainment through your shows. I just recently finished watching the canon run of Gargoyles on DVD through the library (Me and a friend greatly enjoyed the journey, and had a lot of fun watching it!) after growing up on your other shows, like Young Justice and Spectacular Spider-Man. So, thank you, and as Iâm new here, Iâd figure Iâd try and put a question that isnât quite so... obvious.
Did Elizaâs palate change much after the Avalon World Tour?
Um... sure.
I would like Gargoyles to be released on Blu-Ray. I am interested in seeing Gargoyles released on Blu-Ray.
So am I.
Hi Greg,
Do you have any Gargoyles memorabilia that you've hung on to over the years? If so, anything particularly special to you?
Thanks,
Jaycob A.
Thanks
I have a TON of Gargoyles memorabilia. For starters, I have enough t-shirts to wear one everyday for a month.
Lots of it has meaning to me. Hard to single out one item. But I guess the SLG Gargoyles comics and the DVDs are up there.
Hello Greg, and greetings from Finland! :-)
I have noticed recently that I have started to get VERY interested in "Gargoyles". Haven't seen much of the series yet, but from what I have seen and heard, it looks awesome.
There is a problem though. I have no idea if the DVD's have ever been released outside US. If there was an European release, I would probably had already got it. I would import if it was a possibility; however, I strongly suspect that the DVD's are region locked and won't work on European DVD players.
Who could be an appropriate person to ask about this? I know you aren't directly working as a Disney representative, but I thought you could possibly know some contact to ask about this.
Also, do you know if the series is watchable on some video-on-demand service? I would really love to see more about the series.
Thank you already for your time.
I'd love to be able to help you, but I don't know who to contact specifically, aside from just reaching out to Walt Disney Home Entertainment.
And I don't know of any streaming service, etc., that has the series. Wish I did.
Can you please contact Buena Vista Home Entertainment and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment to ask them to release Gargoyles on Blu Ray?
No.
Hi, Greg. Gotta question for you: Since Disney cancelled the release of season 2 part 2 due to low sales back in day, and as fans, we openly support the release of the DVD when it finally came out in 2013 to show how popular and profitable Gargoyles is and can be, I'm curious to know know how the sales went.
As Disney only cares for profit nowadays, then it stands to reason that they be considering Gargs for a reboot or SOMETHING is the sales are a bit hit, right? Do you think it's possible for you learn how the sales went, just to see the level of interest for your own show, financially-wise? I got my copies as soon it wasn't in the $100s after its release.
I don't know how the sales went. I don't work at Disney, and that's not information they share with me. You're as likely to be able to obtain that info, as I am.
When you say, "As Disney only cares for profit NOWADAYS...", I balk. Disney the company only EVER cared about profits, at least since they became a publicly held company (before I was born). But various talented people at Disney - then and now - have always cared about more than that. It's no different now then it has been for DECADES.
And, to be clear, I don't want a reboot. I want to do more of what we were doing. I don't want to start it over, which is what a reboot would be.
I recently got Spirits of Ash and Foam and ALL of the Gargoyles DVDs. All of it was perfection. Thank you for being awesome.
While combing through the archives, I discovered the names of some of the gargoyles of the Avalon Clan: Archangel, Azrael, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel. What I could not find was a reference as to what name went with which gargoyle. So my question is this: are any of the names assigned to a particular garg from Avalon? Or were these just names chosen without a face?
PS. It hits me now that I'm proofreading that it sounds like I'm trying to get on your good side before I asked my question. Not my intent. But whatever.
No spoilers.
But I'm glad you liked the stuff, especially Spirits.
Hello there~
First of all, I just recently re-discovered Gargoyles. I watched some episodes as a kid, but after rewatching the whole series again (minus TGC because I can't find that ANYWHERE), I only now as a 21 year old understand how fantastic that show really was. I'm only sad I'm just now finding this out, just to see that it was cancelled for various reasons.
However, I still want to support this series as much as I can. I just bought the 2nd part of season 2 from Walmart (was very shocked to see that in the Disney section!), and I've recently discovered you made a comic series that takes place after the end of season 2. I want to read this so bad, but this is such an old series now that any trace of scans are all gone due to the sites being dead. And unless I used my credit, I couldn't even afford the comics because Clan Building 1 alone goes for almost $200 now...
Sorry for the splurge of info, but I would like to know if you know of another way I can read these comics? I know I'll buy them someday, but for now I just want to read them - I'm really interested in it!
Anyway, hope life's going well, and would love to see a Gathering maybe in Wisconsin sometime! ^^
I can't recommend Goliath Chronicles. We don't consider it canon.
As for the comics, I don't have a good answer for you now. They're just flat-out out of print. We're trying to rectify it, but unless you want to spend bucks on used copies - or can borrow 'em from a friend, you're just out of luck for the time being. That does NOT make me happy, as I want fans to be able to read them. But there's not much I can do about it now.
We don't really do Gatherings anymore. But I was in Madison for a convention last summer. Were you there?
Hey Greg, long time fan here, first time asking a question here.
Gargoyles was one of those shows I really enjoy watching with my Mom, and we both enjoy it (as do we love Star Trek: The Next Generation, amusingly enough). I've already pre-ordered Season Two Part Two so we can rewatch the whole show together, but enjoying the comic together is a little tricky (she's not much of a reader).
I had wondered this for a long time anyways, but have there been any considerations (official or otherwise) of doing an audiobook or something akin to it (maybe a voiced motion comic?) for the Gargoyles SLG comic with the original voice cast? I can easily hear their voices in my head, but it would be a whole other experience to have them do it in the modern day.
Thanks for your time Greg, and I hope my asking this isn't a bother. I'll continue to support this series I love, and anything you do (as I always end up enjoying your work)!
I'd love to do those stories as AudioPlays, and the subject has come up on occasion. I wouldn't rule out the possibility, but there are no current plans.
Hi Greg,
Having recently purchased Gargoyles Season 2 vol. 2, I just wanted to say I'm very pleased to have the opportunity to revisit the series from beginning to end (and finally "retire" my bootleg copy of these episodes).
I'm nearly through the season 2 vol. 1 set and am really enjoying your intros for each episode and commentary for city of stone. I was disappointed (but not surprised) to see that none of these features exist for the recently released vol. 2 set.
My question is, have you ever considered recording commentaries/intros for this set, (i.e. audio recordings/podcasts) and posting them online for listening alongside viewing?
Your insight and commentary provides so much additional richness to what already is a series rich in depth, lore and multi-layers.
While I doubt you have the time nor inclination to do so, as fan of the series since it aired 20 years ago, I am once again enjoying it (likely even more so now) and look forward to introducing Gargoyles to a new, young generation of future Gargoyle fans.
Thanks and gratitude!
I don't have the technical know-how or capability to do that.
Gargoyles Season Two, Volume Two is now available for one and all on Amazon:
Spread the Word!
Hey Greg, I just wanted to say I saw the Gargoyles DVDs at Walmart yesterday, so if anyone wants a copy they might be able to find it now. I never got a chance to buy them when I was younger, so I was incredibly glad to finally be able to own them. Thank you so much for creating such an amazing series!
(And The Mirror is also one of my favorite episodes, so I was happy to see that it was one of yours too!)
Cool. Your post was back in March, but as I understand it, Walmart has it now too, with a new better-looking cover. As always, I urge fans whenever it's financially POSSIBLE for them, to vote with their wallets in order to send the message to Disney that this is a property they should be doing more with.
Is there a viewing order for Gargoyles that differs from the airing order?
You said that the airing order hadn't aired a single episode out of order in a quote here:
http://www.gargoyles-fans.org/reviews/index.htm
But I believe that was before season 2 was finished.
I'm just about to start season 2 and wanted to clarify this before I got too far in.
Thanks! And I should have another question on a completely different topic in a couple of minutes.
Well, by now, you've probably viewed everything. (In any case, I hope you haven't been waiting six months for this response, as there are many other resources where this information is available.)
A couple episodes did air out of order the first time through. But the DVDs are all in the correct order.
The correct airing order is available at http://gargwiki.net/Episode_Guide.
Hi Greg!
Thank you for all your amazing work on YJ, Gargoyles, SSM, and the many other series you have been a part of. All of them were beautifully animated and fantastically written.
I was excited that Season 2 part 2 of Gargoyles was finally released. I was hoping that we would get some more episode intros from you. They were a great boost to the season 2 part 1 dvds. I suppose Disney wasn't interested/didn't contact you about the possibility?
Anyways, My Boyfriend and I both loved YJ, he even went to NY Comic Con as your YJ Nightwing! He got many compliments and it was fun to Attend the informal YJ meet-up with Christopher Jones.
I recently heard that Cartoon Network has cancelled Beware the Batman, and that in order to keep the DC block going, they might bring back YJ? I know you probably don't have a say in such things, but we all hope for it.
Thank you again!
We had some - minimal - contact about the DVDs, but they clearly weren't interested in putting any extras on there.
As for your YJ rumor - that's all it is. YJ is not back in production.
I'm watching the Season 2 of Gargoyles on DVD and I just wanted to say that I have always been a fan ever since I was a little boy in the 1990s. I guess if I had to ask a question it would be, did you intend for Demona to be a villainess completely or did you expect her to be viewed more sympathetically as a tortured soul? To this day I've always been impressed how ambitious the series was by having rather complex characters for a children's show. Very groundbreaking. And I'm 29, by the way, and have been meaning to attend a convention for yours :)
Best,
Keith
I'm not sure if sympathetic is the word I'd use - but understandable, maybe.
Greg GXB Bishansky points out the following:
"Well, look what's now even more widely available. I like to think this is because it's selling well on the internet.
http://www.disneystore.com/gargoyles-season-2-volume-2-3-disc-dvd-set/mp/1341274/1000316/
Best case scenario, Disney notices and decides to exploit the property even more with a direct-to-dvd movie."
HELP SPREAD THE WORD!!
Heya Greg!
Not really a question. I just wanted to let you know there was a feature on Gargoyles on Disney's (as in actually made by the Mouse House) "Oh My Disney" Blog.
http://blogs.disney.com/oh-my-disney/2013/03/01/we-love-gargoyles-and-you-should-too/
In related news, some of the Ducktales and all of Rescue Rangers episodes are now available through Amazon Prime's streaming app.
Hopefully these are signs of good things to come for Gargoyles.
By now you should know that Gargoyles S2V2 is available on DVD through Disney Movie Club.
Well, I've been out of the country and OUT OF THE LOOP, but we have some REALLY BIG news on the GARGOYLES front.
Season Two, Volume Two of Gargoyles has been released on DVD as a Disney Movie Club exclusive. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm planning on getting at least a couple copies, as I'm told by reliable fan sources who have already received their disks that these are the uncut and correct versions of the last twenty-six episodes of Season Two, including such fan favorites as "M.I.A.", Future Tense" and all three parts of "Hunter's Moon".
Wish I knew more. I've e-mailed a Disney contact for more info but haven't received a response yet. But you can probably find all the information you need by asking the fans in the comment room:
http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/comment/index.php
Anyway, as always, I'm not asking you to spend money you don't have. But if you can afford it, please help us prove to Disney that Gargoyles is a viable property with a strong fanbase. You can do that in two important ways. (1) Buy the DVDs, of course. And (2) SPREAD THE WORD! Use Tumbler, Twitter, Pony Express, whatever. Just help us let people know that these DVDs exist and are out there for sale.
AND MORE BIG NEWS...
I was waiting until CONvergence was over on Sunday to announce this, but it seems they've already made the announcement here:
https://twitter.com/GargoylesNews/status/353393780675715074/photo/1
Next summer, one of my favorite conventions, CONVERGENCE in Minneapolis, will be dedicating their annual convention to the theme of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". And a major part of that theme will be the celebration of the TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF GARGOYLES!!! I'm going to be a guest of the convention, and we've already begun discussions to create a Gargoyles convention within the convention. That's right, folks, the GATHERING OF THE GARGOYLES is back!! There will be a RADIO PLAY! There will be a BLUE MUG!! There will be the ROCKY HORROR GARGOYLES SHOW-ING OF THE TRADITIONAL VIDEOS!! There will be ASK GREG LIVE!! And there will be other Gargoyles related guests to be announced!!!
If you came to any one of the thirteen Gatherings that we held between 1997 and 2009, you know how much fun this can be. You'll want to be there again! If you missed the Gatherings and always wished you had had the opportunity, now is your chance! If you've never heard of the Gathering, but like Gargoyles (or any of the other shows I've done or am doing - including W.I.T.C.H., Spectacular Spider-Man, Young Justice, Rain of the Ghosts and/or Star Wars Rebels, etc.) then this is an opportunity to talk with me and other like-minded fans about them. (We'll probably have panels on them all!)
And if you're interested in just attending a great comic book and science fiction and fantasy and genre convention, then Gargoyles aside, you just can't beat CONvergence:
The camaraderie of the Gatherings was truly something wonderful, and the closest I've ever come to that outside the Gatherings is CONvergence. I honestly can't think of a better con to merge with, even if it's just for one year. (For starters, the ENTIRE hotel is rented to the convention, and the parties go on all night. No more being told by management that we have to stop talking and/or move to some other location. We can and will continue until we drop!)
Now, let's think. Let's strategize. CONvergence is going on NOW. As I type this. And it will last through the end of this July 4th weekend. Next year's convention is exactly one year away. That's plenty of time to plan, to save up money, make travel and hotel arrangements etc. But mostly, what we've got to do in that year is SPREAD THE WORD!!! I want to see a HUGE GARGOYLE FAN TURNOUT at CONvergence 2014. Let's stun CONvergence, the world and DISNEY by showing them how immensely popular Gargoyles still is. And for sure, I don't want any Gargoyles fan saying, "Gee, I didn't hear about it."
So help me, please. I'm sure there are a lot of old fans out there that long ago stopped reading ASK GREG. Contact them. Contact EVERY Gargoyles fan you know, young and/or old. (Don't assume they must already know.) I want to see all my old friends. And a lot of new ones. So, please. Help me. SPREAD. THE. WORD!!!!!!
Hello yet again, Mr. Weisman. This is the first of three consecutive posts (REALLY hoping I won't be blocking up the queue). For this post, my questions revolve around Roy Harper (both of him; three if one were to count Jim).
1. After the the clones (Red Arrow and Guardian) were force-grown to whatever age the Light needed them to be, they subsequently aged at a normal human rate, meaning that Red Arrow is (as of Team Year Six) biologically 23 or 24, and Jim Harper is physically 29 or 30. Am I correct in assuming this?
2. Once it was discovered that Red Arrow and Guardian were clones, did the League and/or the Team take measures to remove the programming that left them vulnerable to the Light's control? If so, what measures?
3. When did Guardian discover that he was a clone?
3a. Is he aware that he's a clone of Roy Harper, rather than Jim?
3b. For that matter, what's the status of the original Jim Harper? I would assume that he's dead, but I have no way to be sure.
4. Now that he's found the original Roy, has Red Arrow rejoined the Justice League?
5. I've noticed personality differences between Arsenal and Red Arrow, some that are subtle, some that are... less so (for instance, I can't really see Red Arrow risking the outcome of a mission just to spite Luthor). These differences are, I think, the result of the vastly different life experiences of the two Roys. Was exploring the ways that experiences can shape a person's personality part of the plan when you (and, I'm assuming, Brandon Vietti, and probably several other writers) devised the whole "Roy Harper clone" plotline, or was it just something you all realised would come up after devising the storyline itself? I mean, experiences changing someone is all a part of character development, but I'm referring to how the different lives managed to produce two very different versions of what is essentially the same man (Cadmus programming for Red Arrow notwithstanding).
Also, I'm happy to say that I received a set of Gargoyles DVDs for Christmas. The show's every bit as good as I remember, and Keith David's performance at the end of Awakening Part I was some of the best voice acting I've ever heard.
1. At the start of Season Two, Roy is biologically 23. Jim is biologically 30.
2. Yes. Miss Martian made the first pass on Roy. Both Miss Martian and Martian Manhunter subsequently scanned Roy and Jim.
3. More or less immediately following the events depicted in "Auld Acquaintance".
3a. He is now, yes.
3b. He's long dead.
4. He's continued his leave of absence. But for a very different reason. Right now he's focused on being a dad.
5. All of the above.
6. Glad you liked it! Can't say enough good things about Keith.
Hi Greg. It has been a while since we have heard any updates about Gargoyles season 2, volume 2 on dvd. I was wondering if you have heard anything? Is it possible, at the very least, for Disney to do a digital download edition...that wouldn't cost the studio too much...or even putting season one and all of season 2 in one complete set? It just doen't seem fair for them to release half of the series, especially since part two had some really amazing episodes...thanks for your time.
Greg Weisman says:
"No new news that I know of. And, no, I seem to have no sway, I'm afraid."
[Response recorded January 19, 2012.]
"It's not a bad idea, but the POINT I'm constantly trying to make is that I have no more insight into Disney's mindset than you guys do. I can keep you updated, but I have no idea whether or not they'd be interested in an iTunes set-up. Personally, I'd way prefer a DVD release."
[Response recorded on January 15, 2008.]
Hi im trying to find all the seasons of this show for my girlfriend and i but cant really find any of the seasons on dvd almost anywhere i look do you know anywhere i can get them?
Which show?
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Site-News-CreateSpace-Amazon-Never-on-DVD-Page/16980
Disney has signed with Amazon's CreateSpace "manufacture on demand" program. The benefit of that program is that you can release content that wouldn't otherwise be profitable, because there's no inventory risk, because inventory is only produced as it is sold.
Supposedly the first round of Disney stuff is going to be all one-off films, but I was wondering if there have been any whispers in the grapevine about maybe considering to do some of the unfinished Disney TV-DVD series (Gargoyles, DuckTales, Darkwing Duck... holy moly, did they finish ANY of the series they started?).
I'm not sure if you'd be involved in such a thing, but have you heard hide or hair of it?
I'm not in the loop.
Hey Greg,
I loved Gargoyles and I watched some reruns on Disney XD. Are there any future plans for Gargoyles and will the series be available on ITunes? I missed the show.
Greg Weisman says:

Will Gargoyles ever be released on Region 2 DVD? UK fans are missing out, and I'm becoming desperate to watch it again!
I have no idea.
Even if the season 2 vol1 didn't sell very many copies doesn't mean you can't release the rest of the season there are people out there who would buy the rest of the seasons like myself I Love gargoyles an I wish you would have released these an you still should right now you can't watch them anywhere except on tv an they come on at 4 in the morning that's unfair. If you could please release DVDs of gargoyles season 2 vol2 an season 3 the chronicles of Goliath please it would be greatly appreciated..!!

Hi Greg,
Have you heard from Disney about releasing Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3 on DVD for this year?
Greg Weisman says:
"They're not going to tell me any more than they've told you."
[Response recorded on February 23, 2012.]
Hi Greg,
You should email Disney which is disneyinfo@disneyhelp.com to check with them if they are going to release the rest of Gargoyles Series on DVD in 2012 of Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3. Thank you.
They're not going to tell me any more than they've told you.
Hi Greg,
I wanted to share some news with you of when I emailed Disney which is disneyinfo@disneyhelp.com to ask them if they are going to release Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3 both on DVD in 2012 and they replied to me by email of "There are tentative plans to release the rest of the Gargoyles Series in 2012, but no details are available at this time."
Thanks for sharing. I hope this comes about.
Can you please contact Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment to ask them if they are going to release Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Gargoyles Season 3 both on DVD in 2012?
I don't know anyone there anymore.
Can you please put extras for Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 and Gargoyles Season 3 both on DVD?
Jonny, as I've told you, it's not up to me.
Me and my friends have been having gargoyles marathon and I was wondering why the DVDs stop after season 2 volume 1 I mean, I couldn't even purchase a digital file. This is very grievous because I now only own 1 episode with an appearance from Puck, you can see how this is depressing.
I can indeed. But the answer to your question is stated and restated ad nauseum in the ASK GREG ARCHIVES in the "Gargoyles DVD" section. Check there.
Hi Greg,
First, I wanted to say that I am delighted that you've kept "Ask Greg" going over the years. I sent in a message back in 2002, and was recently delighted to discover that you had responded to it, two years later! You're my hero. Not just for that, but also because "Gargoyles" and "Ask Greg" helped inspire me to write, myself.
Another thing, though.
There's a group on Facebook devoted to urging Disney to release Gargoyles Seasons 2 Vol. 2 on DVD, and recently some of us have been emailing disneyinfo@disneyhelp.com to ask them to do this.
And recently, some of us have been getting replies. Mine is as follows:
"Thank you for your e-mail. We appreciate your interest and are happy to answer your questions.
There are tentative plans to release the rest of this series in 2012. No further details are available at this time.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.
Sincerely,
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Consumer Relations
US and Canada"
Have you heard anything about this?
Only that others have received a similar response. Beyond that, I am ignorant.
I don't know why I just thought about the show but I did, think you have any sway on making the rest on DVD? Seriously, one of the best cartoons I have watched (BTW I am 27 years old). I'm sad to see that only part of season 2 is on DVD.
No new news that I know of. And, no, I seem to have no sway, I'm afraid.
Hi Greg,
Contact Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment to ask and find out if they are planning to release Gargoyles The Complete Series DVD Set containing all three seasons for a 2012 release.
I have no contacts there anymore, I'm afraid.
Gargoyles is my childhood. Some may still say i am a child but can I say thank you for a truly amazing story and my favorite show of all time. I do not know if this question has been asked before but I recently watched all 78 episodes of gargoyles on youtube. Imediately wanted to buy the seasons. So i bought season 1 and season 2 volume 1 and was shocked when I found that volume 2 and the Golaith chronicles were cancelled. I also know that the seasons on dvd have footage uncensored that was not displayed on disney. I wish to see the remaining episodes from the unreleased seasons this way. Is there a chance they will ever get released? I want gargoyles to live on and give my children at chance to see your materpiece. I would greatly appericate your time, thank you so much!
ASKED AND ANSWERED. CHECK THE ARCHIVES.
In reference to Gargoyles.
I know people have asked this question but its been a while and I didn't know if you had heard anything about whether they were going to release season 2 volume 2 or season 3 onto DVD yet. I have the first season and season 2 volume 1 but I would love to have them all.
Me too.
But I've heard nothing definitive one way or the other recently.
An idea if there is a plan to release season 2 volume 2 or season 3 yet? i bought season 1 and season 2 volume 1 and I really want the other two.
We talking Gargoyles? No idea... though I've heard rumors...
Iâm a big fan of gargoyles but Iâve only been able to find season 1 and season 2 vol. 1 from reputable sellers. Is there any hope that the rest of season 2 and season 3 will be released officially? If so is there an estimate in time?
ASKED AND ANSWERED.
Hi Greg,
I'm from Ireland, huge fan..
Just want to say, thanks for a large part of my childhood in the form of Gargoyles.
I have a picture of Goliath tatooed on my arm with 3 crows over his shoulder representing myself, my dad and younger brother as we used to watch it togeather, everyday after school..Thanks alot. And just out of interest, any idea where I could get Season 2 part 2 on dvd, video, anything..??
Kind regards,
Sam
Wow. Tattoos are quite the commitment.
Sorry, no new news on the DVD front.
When is Disney going to release the rest of the (UNCUT) Gargoyles episodes on DVD? Because I find it kinda' strange that Disney can somehow afford to release these butchered and edited releases (of Iron Man, Xmen, Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, etc.) with NO notible extras, but the Gargoyles releases were cancelled. I DON'T think it's right! What do you think?
post an answer back at ptrunks19@aol.com
ASKED AND ANSWERED.
A year ago I rediscovered the Gargoyles, by accident. I'm from germany and the last time I saw Gargoyles was back in 1998, so I was like "WTH?" when I switched through all those stupid TV channels here in germany and all of a sudden I stumbled over Gargoyles. I was about 8 years old, the last time I did see the show (and never actually understood the storyline), Gargoyles was just sooo cool back then. I love watching those Disney Afternoon tv series (Darkwing Duck, Talespin and stuff), but completely forgot about the Gargoyles. Thanks to the internet I found out, that they re-air Gargoyles in germany: Every sunday two episodes, since 2008! And they still air it and don't seem to take Gargoyles off-air for another year. I think you must be very proud of Gargoyles. Anyways after I discovered Gargoyles again I watched the complete show and what can I say? It's a true masterpiece but the last 12 episodes were strange. The Gargoyle Chronicles are aired with the intro of the second season here in germany, but I'm aware of them now. :D This time around I finally understood the timeline and everything. Brilliant! I couldn't resist and ordered the three TPB of Gargoyles/Bad Guys. Again: Brilliant, but just too short. I imported both DVDs and received them a week ago. Thank's god there are region free dvd players around! I like watching some movies in the original language and that's what I'm trying to do with Gargoyles, even though the german dub is fantastic, too.
I follow this "ask Greg" section since a few months and was reading a lot about Young Justice then. I thought I'd give it a try and thanks to the internet (forgive me) I was being able to see the pilot of Young Justice. What can I say: Another great show! Problem is here in germany we barely know of any of these superheroes, because all these comics aren't being sold here. I know Batman, Robin, Superman, Spiderman and that's pretty much it. So I was like "hell, I don't know anything" when all those superheroes appeared at the end of the pilot. And then my question is:
Do you know when and if Young Justice is coming to other countries? Germany to be precise?
I asked the german Cartoon Network channel, but they say they don't have plans to air Young Justice right now, but that may change in the future...
Just wanted to ask if you know a bit more.
Forgive me my grammatically weirdness and keep up your great work!!
Thanks for writing Wilco. I'm afraid I have no info on YJ's international distribution. They don't inform me of such things.
How many copies need to be sold of Gargoyles Season 1 and Season 2, Volume 1 for Disney to release Season 2, Volume 2?
I think that ship has sailed.
Hey Greg,
I googled much about Vol. 2 but almost only found old threads, etc. about Disney leaving it be. Even here on s8 is a question to you what's about Vol. 2, but that's 2 - 3 years ago.
So I want to be up-to-date about Vol. 2. Is there anything new about the release? Is there any way to get the 2nd part of Season 2? I'll buy Season 1 and Season 2 Vol. 1 off of Amazon, but I want to watch the rest of Season 2, how could I do this?
Hope to hear soon from you! :)
PS: You made a nice show back then!
No new news.
Tell the rest of the Gargoyle fans to send questions to this link about Garoyles Season 2 Volume 2 and Season 3 being released. This will help alot for the DVDs to be considered for release by the Walt Disney Company. Tell them to spread the word and to contact this link as much as possible. This will truly help.

Um... if you say so.
Go for it, gang!
Everyone knows by now that there weren't enough DVD sales of the Gargoyles series to support the release of the remaining episodes by Disney (i.e. not profitable). This is the same situation that Warner Brothers found with the DVD release of some Hanna Barbera cartoons. In the last year, Warner Brothers (through Warner Archives) have developed the MOD (manufacture on demand) Program. They will burn the complete series of a Hanna Barbera cartoon onto a DVD-R on an order by order basis. These DVD-R's only contain the episodes (not any special bonus features) and can only be ordered from Amazon or Warner Archive online store. According to Warner Brothers this has kept the production and distribution costs low so that they can make money at this and satisfy their fans. Is there any way to get Disney to do the same thing with regards to the remaining episodes of the Gargoyles?
I don't know. Is there?
Hi Greg,
Who do we need to write to/petition for the rest of the Gargoyles series to be released on DVD?
Disney or Buena Vista Home Entertainment, I suppose.
I've been a fan for many years! Kudos on the show, it's wonderful. I must also admit that even though I love the show I hate having to wake up at 4:00 am to watch it.
As to my inquiry...
I understand that you are no longer with Disney; however, I wondered if you had any more recent information than I've been able to find on:
1.) the release of the remaining episodes to dvd and
2.)what happened to the plan for the live action version that was in the works.
If you are unable to help me, could you please direct me (if possible) to the Disney website, persons name, or specific company I need to begin a letter writing campaign to (waking up at 4:00 am is killing me, but it's on!! LOL!!)
I hope the show is returned to you in the near future. It was amazing and I believe deserves another chance, particularly with the rise in interest in the supernatural television shows. Good luck to you with this and all your other projects and thanks for your time.
I have no new information to report, I'm afraid. And no contacts for you either, I'm afraid. Maybe some of the fans do, however. You can ask at the Station 8 comment room, for example.
Hello. I was wondering if there were any plans to have the complete series of Gargoyles released on DVD anytime in the near future. I think it would be great if there were because I love the show. Thank you for your time.
I think it would be great too. But no plans that I know of. (You know it's not up to me, right?)
I am one of those fans that doesn't get involved in 'fan' movements or sites, but I really want to see the vol 2 dvd come out. I know many fans are closet fans or, like myself, just don't have time or motivation to act on their love of the show, so I think it would take a lot to get word out. I do have one suggestion/question. If there were a convention of some sort or gathering of fans, I think they should have some sort of 'activity' of writing a letter to disney to release the vol 2 dvd set. People leading the rally would support/walk the fans through the process of writing a letter (providing the right place to send it and a loose outline of what to say) and everyone could send their letter in soon after. If there was that much of a concentrated request from fans to disney about the dvds, then I think it would at least help them to look into it if they got so many letters from fans at once, which may lay the path for more letters later on too and then disney must do SOMETHING. They already have vol 1 out and as long as they think they'd make money (that's the challenge, making them see how it will be profitable), then they wouldn't have much trouble putting it out there. Would something like that be possible?
*Also, for fans, widening the fan base by exposing friends and family to this relatively unknown but vastly epic series is always a good way to take some baby steps.
Hey Hope,
None of these are particularly original ideas, I'm afraid. The Gathering is over for the foreseeable future, and I can't imagine any of us could put together a letter writing campaign massive enough to budge Disney off their current mindset that the DVDs didn't sell well enough to justify another release.
I don't want to seem negative, however, and as I've said for YEARS now, the best thing the fans can do is SPREAD THE WORD, exposing friends and family to the show and reminding "closet fans" of its existence.
hi, greg.
thanks for coming out to comic con this year. always nice to see you.
just wondering if you ever caught pirates of dark water, and what you thought of it. i hear that WB's releasing the series DVD "made-on-demand". we need to get Disney to do that with Gargoyles. there probably wouldn't be any bells or whistles added to the release, but i'll take it any way i can!
I never saw Pirates of Dark Water.
And I'm game for getting Gargoyles out any way we can.
Hi Greg, I've been a HUGE Gargoyles fan ever since it first came out. Like most fans, I've been hoping against hope (while realizing it's probably not going to happen anytime this side of 1,000 years) that SEASON 2 VOLUME 2 will finally be released, even after five years. However, there's a new trend I see starting in the TV-on-DVD release universe that MAY provide us with a solution if fans can get back on board and start bugging Disney about it. Have you heard about Disc-on-Demand, sometimes referred to as MOD (Manufactured-on-Demand)? Just in case you haven't, it works just like it sounds...a company says they are going to "release" a season of a T.V. show, but not in stores...you order it online, either via their website or by Amazon, and when you order it and pay for it, they make the set then and ship it to you. They don't have to worry about shipping it to stores and making more sets than meet demand. This way, die-hard fans can get their hands on the material and the company doesn't lose money. CBS and Warner Bros. are both starting to do it with some of my favorite shows that haven't seen releases in a long time due to low sales of earlier sets, much like what GARGOYLES faced. But now, with this new capability, fans can get their hands on this material, and I think it would be terrific if Disney could get on board with this for GARGOYLES. What do you think? Could you post this idea on your site so fans can start writing Disney informing them of their interest? This seems much more possible to me than waiting for them to release it as a mass-release set in stores. Thanks, and have a great day!
I love the idea!
I admit I don't know how to get Disney interested in doing this for Gargoyles if they aren't doing it for ANYTHING yet. But a letter-writing campaign is a good way to start. Patrick, I nominate you to spearhead this. Post this in the s8 Comment Room and any other Gargoyles site you can think of. (I think there are a couple on facebook.)
If people send actual LETTERS to Disney Home Entertainment, it may have some effect. Especially if a LOT of people send letters. (And if those letters sound reasonable and polite. Draft a sample letter and post that to give people a clear idea what to ask for.
In any case, it can't hurt.
I purchased the graphic novels since I wanted to finish the stories from the comic books. After reading clan building again it made me try and find news about the gargoyles continuing in some way because I really enjoyed the show/comic. After being disappointed again for lack of good news, I went to imdb.com just to check out some of the actors. After seeing how many wonderful and "big name" actors were involved an idea hit me. So here is my question. I am sorry if it was asked already, is there a way to maybe some of these famous actors could be contacted? Then with some of them on board maybe they in-turn would be able to contact Disney on at least getting the last half of season two released. Maybe it is wishful thinking but it seems that they enjoyed the show as much as the fans did. Plus they have clout that we "fans" don't have. Maybe through their connections we can actually get that little bit of closure. I mean if I could play the game six degrees of Kevin Bacon and get to Robert A. Iger, surely then these actors have a more linear connection that could yield results. Just a thought and hope.
thank you and I hope to see the dvds and more comics/graphic novels
Actors have WAY less clout than you seem to think they have.
Hello Mr. Weisman it is me again; I forgot to ask you an other question: will be a special edition of the goliath chronicles with the supervision of you and your colleagues(Frank Paur, Michael Riveas and the japanese film producers)? maybe with the episodes that you've wrote in the comic books(Clan Building volume 1 and the others)?I saw the Goliath chronicles on youtube and it disappointed me.
Hey when you have time why don't you see on youtube the italian episodes of the Gargoyles, the voices are pretty beautiful, Goliath is voiced by Alessandro Rossi.
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, Brian. Frank and Michael didn't work on Goliath Chronicles at all. Neither did Walt Disney Television Animation Japan. And I barely worked on any of it beyond the first episode. If this is a DVD question, than I doubt they'll be releasing Goliath Chronicles on DVD. Certainly not while Season Two isn't fully released.
And now I have a question on Goliath and religion.
In the VHS version of "Awakening" as the trio glide off to steal the disc, Goliath says "godspeed lads. They'd better not be harmed." In the TV version he just says "They'd better not be harmed."
Since you edited the VHS release, I have to ask. Would Goliath say "godspeed?" Considering what you have since revealed about gargoyle religious beliefs, I was wondering. In your mind, did he say it?
And while I'm here, what's the canon status of the VHS version of "Awakening?" There is some material in it that wasn't in the TV and later DVD version?
1. Yes. But as a colloquialism.
2. It's mooshy, since in my brain elements of both versions are mooshed together.
Hi Mr. Weisman, I'm from Italy and I'm a big fan of the Gargoyles since 1997(when the tv series arrives for the first time in my country).
My question is about the dvds(season 1 and season 2 volume 1) and the comic books: do you know by chance when they will released in the other countries?
Maybe if will happen the sales will increase more and then there will be hope for Gargoyles 2 season volume 2, what do you think?
Well I hope my english is understandable, and so goodbye Mr. Weisman.
Your English is great. But my answer unfortunately remains the same: I don't know. I would think the comic books (in English) would be available on-line for anyone. Same with the DVDs but they might not work on non-American machines.
Hi Greg,
grew up watching Gargoyles, have a picture of Golaith tatooed on my arm with 3 birds over his shoulder, signifying myself, my dad and my younger brother as we all wathced it togeather. Most time I ever spent with them. Thanks for all the memories that came with Gargoyles. I own the 2 series that are on dvd, wish the new ones would come out. I was wondering if you are trying to get them out on dvd or bringing back the gathering of the gargoyles, its a shame that the program seems to be dien out, saddend me.
Much love and respect, Sam
Dude, I wouldn't write the eulogy quite yet.
Still, there's nothing I can do right now about the DVDs.
As for the Gathering -- or any other convention -- that is (and always was) in the hands of the fans. I loved participating, but I was never the organizer.
Hi Greg, I hope everything is well with you. My question is: Is it possible to contact the 1994 cast members to come on board to assist us (Gargoyles fans) in convincing Disney to release the remaining 26 episodes? Do you think we have a chance?
Unfortunately, I have become very obsessed with this project. I think your ability
to create this type of animation is outstanding - it is sooooooo real.
I'm sure any cast member asked would be happy to see the DVD come out, if for no other reason, then they'd get a royalty check out of it. But I don't see how they'd help us vis-a-vis changing DIsney's mind.
I was just wondering if there's any news on Disney reconsidering putting season 2 volume 2 of Gargoyles on dvd? I really enjoy the show and was hoping to get it on dvd. I know they dropped it because the first one didn't sell very well. Personally I'm one of those people who prefer buying whole seasons to partial sets but that was before I realized how many episodes were in season 2 for Gargoyles. Maybe others considered or felt the same way. Is there someone at Disney we can write to or maybe start a petition? There must be something we can do for them to reconsider.
There's no news. This late in the game, I don't expect any.
Hi Greg, this is not a question but a statement: I have been a gargoyles fan for many years and I think your work is one of the greatest animated legend in history.
We the fans will not stop until the remaining 26 episodes are released on DVD. Your ability to capture the attention of adults as well as kids are outstanding. By the way, I do have Season One and Two. Thanks
Thank you...........
No, thank YOU!
Any idea how many more copies of Season 2 Vol. 1 needs to be sold in order for us to see Vol. 2? And do you think there might be a chance we will see Gargoyles on Blue-Ray? Or atleast Season to be re-released but with episode introduction by you?
1. No. Frankly, I think that ship has sailed.
2. No idea.
3. Seems unlikely at this point, unless something significant changes.
Dear Greg,
My name is Justin S. And I am from Westfield NY. I know Season 2 Vol.2 is on hold until more copies of season 2 Vol. 1 gets sold. But, is there anything else that can be done? I hate Not having the rest out on DVD. It feels so incomplete. I found a petition recently http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/gargoylesseason2volume2todvd I dont think its getting promoted enough. So I will pass it around. But I will help in any way I can. I have already purchesed Season 2 vol. 1 but I will probably buy some copies and give them as christmas presants. Whenever you can hit me back at IbanezJFS@gmail.com and hopefully I can make it out to the Gathering someday. SeE Ya
Hey Justin,
As I've said many times, I don't e-mail people directly. But if you're still checking here, I'm afraid I have no new answers in the short term beyond what's already in the archives.
Greg i want to know if you have been keep track of the gargoyles dvd sales to see if they are changing? not to mention are the people at disney even trying to release all of their classic shows?
I have no way of keeping track of DVD sales, but at this point, I doubt anyone is. The DVDs came out years ago.
As to Disney's plans, I'm not privy to them.
I dont know if this site is still working so i am just gonna ask the question anywho, i was wondering if they where ever going to bring Season Two and Three of Gargoyles out on full DVD anytime soon, you know if that will ever happen? Also i was wondering if Gargoyles will ever come back to our screens? I mean its 2009 now i think Disney would love to add some more merchandising to their store shelves
anywho thanks in advance and keep up the good work
Please peruse the FAQ and archives to find answers to these oft-asked questions.
Ok, so I was browsing at Wal-mart yesterday and just happened to see Gargoyes season 1 ans season 2 vol.1 and thought it was a sweet find especially for the price. Picked the both up without hesitation then I looked up season 2 vol. 2 and just realized it may not happen because of sales. So my question is... its been a long while since the were released sales must have progressed by now no? How much more needs to be sold for the next ones to be created?
I don't think it's still possible for us to make a big enough sales splash with the existing volumes to generate the next one. We'll need to make a LARGER splash with the property as a whole to get Disney's attention all over again.
Hey, Greg.
Lately, I've been going a little crazy because my old homemade VHS tapes of Gargoyles got eaten by my VCR, so I can't get my fix and as we all know Disney's not released the full series because they don't feel that the prior DVD sets have sold well enough to warrant a full-series release. With the cost of manufacturing DVDs becoming cheaper and Disney having now bought Marvel Comics (who once published a Gargoyles magazine for a while back in the mid-'90s), do you think we're any closer to getting the full series on DVD? I've signed a number of on-line petitions and even requested that Amazon.com reviewers do the same, but all to no avail. In your mind, other than a miraculous sale of all existing copies of the first two DVD sets, what would get Disney to change their minds and release the rest of the series?
Thanks,
Dorkus McGee
A die-hard Gargoyles fan
I don't know. Honestly.
Now that Marvel Comics, a company that once published a Gargoyles comic series, and Disney have now merged into one, would there be any chance that Marvel/Disney could bring back Gargoyles in some fashion? Since one of the reasons for Disney to aquire Marvel was to gain access to a market that catered more towards teenage boys, it seems that one of the only action series it produced on it's own could find a new home under this merger.
Also, has there been any update on the release of Season 2 vol.2, perhaps the best string of Gargolye episodes made, again, particularly now that Disney is one with Marvel it could be labeled under a Marvel logo (since again at one time an actual Marvel comic) and gain more fan/dollar support that way.
I have no news.
Is Disney going to release Gargoyles Season Two, Volume Two on DVD? Did you mention the next Gargoyles DVD of Season Two, Volume Two during the opening and closing ceremonies at the Gathering of The Gargoyles 2009 and were sales good for the first two sets of Gargoyles Season One and Season Two, Volume One? Can you contact Disney and ask them to release Gargoyles Season Two, Volume Two on DVD?
Check the archives.
Hey Greg how are you? Anyway I think if there is a petition started that maybe Disney will consider releasing the rest of the Gargoyle Series.http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/gargoylesseason2volume2todvd/
This is the website I found on line that already has 315 signatures. The goal is 100,000. Do you think if that goal is meant that Disney would consider releaseing it?
Can't hurt.
Hello Greg how are you? Good I hope. Well I'll just get to the point. I'm a huge Gargoyles fan and I just recently decided to buy the DVDs but I found out that they're not releasing anymore of the volumes after Season 2 Volume 1. Can you please explain if they'll be coming out anytime soon? Thanks
I've already answered this one. Please check the archives.
Why hasn't the second half of season 2 of the Gargoyles been released on dvd?
Check the archives.
Did you know there's actually an online petition to release the rest of the Gargoyles series on DVD? And the comments on Youtube seem to support it. Would you please consider it?
Don't you think I want them released? It's not up to me.
when do you think the will put the second part of season two on dvd & will they be puting the goliath chronicles on dvd too? also do you think you will be making more episodes os spin off of the series?
The "more episodes" exist in comic book form. Check 'em out. And Disney currently has no plans to put out more DVDs. See the archives for more info.
Hi Greg, first time that I make a question here Xp, that thing is I am from Mexico and i really wish to buy the comics and the DvDs and apparently neither of them where imported, so the question is if I am gona need to buy them in english because they are never gona be translated or i can wait for them to been Translated?
i ask that because the shipment is expensive Xp, But i really want the comics
P.S. Sorry the bad english, and congratulations fot TSSP the series is awesome
I don't remember off the top of my head whether the DVDs have a spanish language track or not. The comics probably won't be translated.
Hi Greg, this time I have a production question about Gargoyles. Given that Youtube has started putting commercial products such as old TV shows and what not, do you think there is a chance that Gargoyles will be put up on it as well? More specifically, do you think the second half of Season 2 may be put up there? And finally, if those episodes gets lots and lots of views, do you think Disney would consider a DVD release of Vol 2?
I think it's (illegally) on YouTube already. I have no idea if Disney intends to put it up legit. Or how that would effect their DVD plans.
Curious if there is any recent(within the past year or 2) updates to the 'gargoyles' is there any plans going underway, A live action or even computer animated movie (beowulf style)perhaps? Geting enough from the first and second season to consider releaseing the second part of season 2 or 3, or a new gargoyles tv series?
Thing is, i've seen rumors droped here and there, but most anything ive seen is at least 3-4 years old, so i've been dieing to know.
Ps: I was browseing through some other questions, one with someone askin if there was a washroom in the clocktower, never thought of it meself, always jus assumed they went well in flight :D
Check the archives here. Plenty of recent answers, and in any case, I'd post any updates I had. I'm not keeping things from people.
Yeah hi i was just wondering if you know when the rest of the series comes out on DVD, and do you have any idea where i could get it i already have season 1 and season 2 volume 1 but yeah just wondering.
BVHE has no current plans for an additional realease.
I own the complete first season and volume 1 of the second season DVDs, but they seem to be missing a couple episodes. The episodes where Coldstone and Thailog are created never happen. THe episides where they show up have "Last Time on Gargoyles" flashbacks showing scenes from the episodes of their creation, but the actual episodes aren't there. Why not and where can I get them?
You have store bought DVDs, but you're missing episodes?
I have no explanation for that. My copies have all the episodes.
I know it's been two years since the announcement about Season 1 and Season 2 Part 1 needing 1000 sales to produce Season 2 part 2. How many more are needed at this point to warrant getting the second half of Season 2 on DVD? I'm planning on getting them shortly where I can find them.
You're planning on getting as many as we need?
I can't give you numbers, I'm afraid. It's no longer as simple as reaching a number. We need to get Disney's attention to the property again.
And you can find them on Amazon.
I've been a fan of this series since I was a little kid and it saw it on the disney afternoons. I'm 23 now and have bought the dvds. I know it's not likely but is it possible season 2 volume two will be released sometime within the next year or 2?
It's possible. (Please check the archives before posting the same question for the umpteenth time.)
Hi Greg,
Did you announce the DVD release of Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 at The Gathering of the Gargoyles 2008 during opening ceremonies? Thank you.
No... I'm keeping it a secret. Shhhhhh
I know, I know you're tired of hearing this question. But Amazon.com has a listing for Gargoyles Season 2: Volume 2. And it's never been there before. Of course this has no release date but the fact that it's up, does that mean it's being considered for release? Or is Amazon.com just screwing with us?
Neither. (And if you know I'm tired of the question, why are you asking it? Especially since at least four people ahead of you in the ASK GREG queue had already asked it.)
Disney won't release the Gargoyles DVD's in my country so I went looking on the internet and found all seasons for sale, but I know not all have been released yet so I was just wondering if it was legit?
http://www.tvdvdworld.tv/movie/cartoon/Gargoyles.html
If they've got all seasons, then probably not.
Dear, Greg
I have a question regarding some strange postings I've recently come accross on amazon.com
They claim to be for the dvd releases of gargoyles season 2 vol 2 and season 3, are these really being considered by disney? There is no release date on the page either, but it looks like an official posting. Anyways these are the links, let me know what you think.
http://www.amazon.com/Gargoyles-Season-Two-Vol-2/dp/B00198X0YA/ref=pd_bbs_5?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1213772201&sr=8-5
http://www.amazon.com/Gargoyles-Season-Three/dp/B001993Y7W/ref=pd_bbs_7?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1213772201&sr=8-7
Asked and answered.
I just heard that Season 2 Volume 2 was now listed on Amazon.com, I checked and sure enough it was there. Has Disney contacted you about this or asked you to participate in any way? I really hope this pans out and gets released.
Guys... please check to make sure the question your posting wasn't JUST posted.
Hi Greg,
Hopefully I'm not beating a very dead horse here, but was wondering whether you'd seen- http://www.amazon.com/Gargoyles-Season-Two-Vol-2/dp/B00198X0YA/ref=pd_bbs_5?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1213507811&sr=8-5
It looks like Amazon's letting people sign up to be notified when Gargoyles S2V2 is released, and add it to their wishlists (of course, I'd scoop it up in a heartbeat if I could).
Do you know anything about this? Is there a good word on the much-anticipated release? At this point I'd even take barebones episodes (though I certainly wouldn't complain about commentary tracks).
Thanks for all the energy you've spent on this series, past and present.
I have no new news, but it can't hurt to let Amazon know you'd buy it if it became available.
I haven't seen it posted as a question yet, but Gargoyles Season 2 Vol. 2 is now listed on Amazon.com here:
http://www.amazon.com/Gargoyles-Season-Two-Vol-2/dp/B00198X0YA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1213057189&sr=1-4
for sign-up to be notified when it comes out and write reviews for it. I've heard before that if enough people show interest on Amazon they forward this on to the distributors and it can make a difference. Don't know if this is true or not or if you would know if this helps, but I thought it would be worth mentioning to the fans on this site in the hopes that maybe if enough people sign up to be notified and write reviews it will get Amazon's attention which will get Buena Vista's attention.
I don't know if it helps either - but it certainly can't hurt. GO FOR IT!!
Recently Amazon.com placed a link on their site, which will alert fans when Gargoyles: Season 2, Volume 2 becomes available. Have you heard anything on upcoming DVD releases? And if more Gargoyles DVDs are on the way will you be involved at all?
Asked and answered, but in case I wasn't clear, I've heard NOTHING, and I see no movement currently from Walt Disney Home Entertainment. If and when I do, I promise to let you all know. Really. You can stop asking. I'll let you know. Seriously. No need to keep asking. The need to ask is unnecessary. It is totally not required. I swear. STOP!
Hi Greg. What's up? I know you've gotten swamped with questions about Season 2 Volume 2 and Season 3 of Gargoyles coming out to DVD, and you've been telling us all that Season 2 Volume 1 didn't sell enough copies. I have a new question however, has Disney changed their minds? The reason for this question is, I was just on Amazon.com and just happened to type in Gargoyles, and Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3 are now listed. Right now it's currently saying the items aren't available but it's the first time I've ever seen them listed on there. Is Disney thinking about releasing the rest of the series? Maybe around Christmas time like they did the previous two releases?
If and when I know anything, I'll let you know. I promise.
When is the second half of the second season going to come out? I've already got the first season, the first half of the second season and I'm making sure as hell to buy the comic books (both coming from the show and the Bad Guys one) but there are many episodes that I would like to watch again. Sadly they weren't on any of the DVD's that I have. Also, there is an episode where it shows re-caps of how Cold-Stone was made, but you never actually SHOWED the actual episode. What happend?
The episode where Coldstone is made is on the FIRST SEASON DVD. Do you have that one?
hey i am a longtime fan just wondering if there is any new news on the release of gargoyles season 2 vol 2. It has been a while and i keep hoping due to not having a incomplete season
thank You
People... people... people... please check the archives before asking.
will there be a new gargoyles dvd
I hope so.
I know that the first two seasons of "Gargoyles" are on DVD but are there anymore available? Or will there be?
And most importantly will they be available in Western Australia?
Refer to the archives for your first couple questions, and I'm afraid I don't know anything about your last question.
what places can i go to and buy the seasons?
Amazon.com is probably your best bet at this point. Otherwise, you're just counting on dumb luck for any particular store to carry them.
I am asking the same question that many of the other people have been asking about when will Gargoyles season 2 Volume 2 come out and im also asking when Gargoyles Season 3 will come out? I know that you have had many other people ask the same question.
Then why are you asking again?
Firstly, thx much to all who've contributed to this excellent webpage; the quantity of Gargoyles show information is almost overwhelming (at least to a new fan like myself)! And thx especially to Greg Weisman, for creating such a truly unique and remarkably clever animated series.
I never watched Gargoyles in my younger years and now, thirty years of age, have become a total fan-- originally from just watching The Awakening movie (w/ some kids I was babysitting years ago), then eventually from buying the DVDs of the first season and the first half of the second season.
I've now watched the DVDs repeatedly and have become increasingly impressed with the complex storyline and character development, surprisingly clever dialogue, and cool action/fantasy animation. It truly is an awesome show, extraordinarily entertaining, even for adults.
I've been reading all the threads here and on Amazon about the reasons we haven't seen the release of the second volume of the second season. The situation for a fan like me (who's never watched the show on television) is that there's this utter blankness, after watching the shows on the DVDs-- without even the vaguest remembrance of how the story continues. It's like reading the first half of some very enjoyable book and then having the book cruelly yanked away from my hold! So unfair!
I am one of those people who doesn't have television at my place (just TV sets to watch DVDs) so I cannot even watch any repeats of the show on cable (although I am seriously considering *paying* friends who have TiVo to record any/all episodes of Gargoyles for me, that I might watch them on their TVs).
So my questions to Greg Weisman or anyone else who reads this (apologies for the lengthy background info) is: what might be the best way for a viewer like me to encounter the rest of the Gargoyles story? Do the comic books tell the stories I haven't seen yet . . . and if so, should I read them in a specific order? Or are there detailed episode descriptions somewhere online that you'd recommend?
I really wish it was not an unacceptable violation of creative copyright for me to offer a fan of Gargoyles money for VHS/DVD copies of the second half of the show-- because I so want to view the rest of the series!
Mr. Weisman: you must have access to all the recorded shows. So if you were offered a large sum (to be distributed among all who have a share of the Gargoyles copyright . . . including Disney, if it must be <g>) for DVD-R copies of the episodes of the second half of the second season of Gargoyles-- and perhaps the third season-- to be purchased by fans for private viewing only . . . that would be legal, right? (All right, I don't personally have a large sum . . . but perhaps fans here on s8.org could create a shared fund for this purpose . . . ?)
I have the same DVDs that you have, and I have a single old VHS copy of every episode. But there's NO WAY that Disney would approve me releasing the missing episodes on my own, even if I were inclined and/or had the technical ability, etc. I think your idea of asking buddies to record the shows for you off Toon Disney/Jetix is a good one, frankly. (There's also YouTube, though God knows that's a god awful way of viewing anything.) Other than that... we're all a bit screwed until BVHE decides to release that last set.
I'd still recommend the comics. Any information you NEED is refreshed in any given issue. And frankly, the better the comics sell, the more likely the DVD release becomes.
Hey Greg!
Huge Spider-Man fan here! The episodes keep getting better and better. Any clues as to when the Big MJ reveal will be? In April? I am dying to get this series on DVD! The Sandman episode remains my favorite(so far) but I think I change my mind every Saturday. It had the right amount of crazy battle scenes and down to earth drama. Im not sure if you know this but will the series run through the summer or will they split up the season? In any event, I will be an avid watcher. One more SM question, Any plans for Pete to reveal his identity to anyone? I doubt you'll answer that, but I think it is what makes Ultimate Spider-man so fresh. (Not that I should compare the two, they are seperate but equal as far as Im concerned.) It would be so much easier for Pete to say "dont hate me Gwen/Liz/Harry/Connors/Brock...Im Spider-Man!" Which is the tragic situation and does make it interesting, I cant wait to see where the show goes and Im counting down til next week(6 days!)
I also read your comics, they are great stuff. I missed the cartoon because I havent had Toon Disney until recently(And they show Gargoyles at crazy times) but I am familiar with the story. However, I have never felt confused reading the comics, the characters have been captivating, regardless of their history. Keep up the great work!
By now, you've met M.J.
The first season will air more or less continuously through the spring through the first 13 episodes, with a few weeks of reruns scattered in to give us some post-production breathing room. Not yet sure when the second season (also 13 episodes) will air, but definitely not this summer. They won't be ready in time.
I'm glad the comics are working for you. But you can also pick up the DVDs.
hi greg i live in scotland and i am trying to finr volume 2 of season 2 and can not find it anywhere so do u know where i can get it?
It does not yet exist.
Hi Greg,
If sales are good for the first two DVD sets of Gargoyles Season 1 and Season 2, Volume 1, Disney may release Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 on DVD that will contain the final 26 episodes with the uncut versions along with special features that I will get to complete the entire series of Gargoyles on DVD! I know that I am keeping my fingers crossed and waiting very patiently for Gargoyles Season 2, Volume 2 to get released on DVD. Thank you.
You're telling me...
When is season 3 of Gargoyles going to be available on DVD?
I give up. When?
