SomeGeek> Hah, nicely spotted! I never noticed that connection before.

Speaking of OotS, I've noticed that the villain Redcloak has quite a few similarities to Demona. An anti-human vendetta, semi-immortality, has killed or been culpable in the deaths of large numbers of his own people in the name of their prosperity, a refusal to admit error, and a tremendous guilt complex. They're not completely the same, of course (for one thing, Redcloak wasn't responsible for the initial event that caused his hatred of humans, and he's certainly more self-aware than Demona - not to mention he hasn't completely alienated other goblins), but they certainly share a fair bit.

This is something old so it may have been mentioned before, but I was just re-reading Order of the Stick (a fantasy/D&D-inspired webcomic) and on strip 70, panel 8 there is a reference that is amusing for the Gargoyle's crowd...
http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0070.html (panel 8 is at the end of the third row)

Anyway, it's an old strip (9 years ago!) back from when the webcomic started so it isn't "new" news. And taken out of context that particular strip isn't all that funny. But it was just something I noticed while rereading it and thought I'd share.

@Anthony - I've only caught bits of episodes, it it was enough for me to chuckle at the reference. Impractical jokers is produced by a friend of a friend - its nice its starting to catch on, I certainly enjoy it.

Rebel> Comedywise I'm rather particular, and at the moment, 'Raising Hope', 'Big Bang Theory' and 'How I Met Your Mother' are the only things that makes me laugh.

Dramawise, I watch Castle and Once Upon a Time. (Which you should SERIOUSLY take a look at, if you're not following it already. I know I bashed the pilot last year...But it got SO much better and SO good...)

I think that's all I follow on Hulu.

There are some animated shows that I follow on...Sites that are less Hulu-ish.

Tron: Uprising, Dragons: Riders of Berk, etc...And Young Justice if for some reason I cannot catch it when it airs.

I am Bad. And that's good. I will never be Good. And that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be, than me~~Bad Guy Affirmation

@FTBM2010, I caught the beginning of "Archer" last night when I got home from watching "Django Unchained". "Archer" isn't a show I watch, but it caught my eye because the writers paid homage to "Bob's Burgers", a show that currently airs on FOX. Are you familiar with the show? Did you get the reference? I thought it was funny, but then turned it off to watch "Impractical Jokers" that I DVRed.

Concerning "Django Unchained", Tarantino did not disappoint. I really enjoyed it. Christoph Waltz was fantastic. I'm happy to report that the movie did not feel like 2 hours and 45 minutes.

BISHANSKY - Yes, "Sherlock"'s great - especially how it's able to translate the Sherlock Holmes story from Victorian London to the modern world and still capture its essence. (I read that one element that helped the production team was the realization that the first Sherlock Holmes story began with Dr. Watson returning to England after being wounded in Afghanistan, an event that could work just as well today as it could in the 1880's.)

ARCHER. New season premier tonight. Firefly is there too if you haven't watched it, and some old school faves such as My So Called Life and Daria (although the latter is not on instant)

Watching Charmed right now, Into Season 5.
Brack

Just watched the BBC "Sherlock" on Netflix starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman... it's terrific and has washed out the vomitous aftertaste of the Robert Downey Jr. "Sherlock Holmes" movies.

"For every two dozen Phantom Menaces, there is a Return of the King. For every two-bit Shyamalan, a Stanley Kubrick is born. For every poor soul who groans during an Adam Sandler-funded Rob Schneider vehicle, there is a child crying life-affirming tears when Bambi's mom is shot. Somewhere out there, a film student is finding out what Rosebud means for the first time. A man is pausing as Fredo prays the Hail Mary on a boat over Lake Tahoe. A woman grasps her heart as Bogie's love flies off into the foggy night. All it takes is one moment to change a person. And that one moment... no matter how fleeting... is worth a thousand Transformers."

@Rebel, "Keeping Up Appearances" is a show my dad watches and I would catch myself watching with him. While I'm not a huge fan of British comedy, there are some pretty funny episodes of that show.

Netflix streaming tv shows I highly recommend (to name a few):

Breaking Bad
The Walking Dead
The League
30 Rock

What's everyone watching on Netflix or Hulu these days? I've rediscovered a show I used to love watching late at night when I was in junior high school: Keeping Up Appearances--a hilarious British sitcom about Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced "Boquet") who has delusions of social grandeur. Her daily efforts to keep up the appearance of a high social standing result in some really funny moments.

I've also caught myself up on all the episodes of Once Upon A Time...and I'm kicking myself a little bit because I didn't realize until recently that it actually isn't really that good of a show, but unfortunately I'm at a point now where I care too much about the characters to stop watching.

I'm trying to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well. I remember catching an episode here or there when I was much younger and loving it, but I guess all the episodes I had seen back then were from the later seasons. The first season is a bit of a bore for me but I'm going to keep on trucking. I don't think I'll regret it. I remember feeling the same way about Season 1 of Farscape and Seasons 2-4 made it all worth it.

Nice to see it there.

Or Monsieur le Maire could be a "Jean Valjean" counterpart in the same way that Falstaff and his gang in the last part of "Bad Guys" were a counterpart to Falstaff and his gang in Shakespeare, Dingo to Prince Hal, and the ColdTrio to Othello, Desdemona, and Iago.

Or Jean Valjean is an Illuminatus who opposes the Illuminati from within and is still alive for the same reason Fiona Canmore is.

There's also the bit about Jean Valjean coming from 19th century France (I'm only vaguely familiar with "Les Miserables", but I believe it's set during one of the "barricades uprisings" in the first half of the 19th century), though since the Gargoyles Universe has several long-lived characters, many of whom have been around long before that, that probably shouldn't be too much of an obstacle. (Or, for that matter, Finella and Mary might not have been the only people transported from the past to the present during Brooklyn's TimeDancing adventures.)

And given that Valjean's entire story is about the redemption of a former criminal, it only makes sense that he would run the Redemption Squad. Of course, that means writing around the fact the Valjean died of nothing in the book- perhaps his friend Victor covered for him when he faked his own death. Incidentally, I haven't seen the movie because I'm going to see the stage show next month (ONE MONTH MORE!) for the first time. I'm not worried about spoilers, I know the story, but I don't want the movie to change my expectations of the show.

Anthony> Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on it for some time now. The Skylanders element worries me as far as costs go, but since at least one television property has already been confirmed for inclusion, I'd say there's at least a chance for Gargoyles to show up.

Anthony Tini> Javert calls Jean Valjean "Monsieur La Maire" (Mr. Mayor). There's a character by the same name in the Bad Guys comic.

To the barricades!

@Supermorff, no I missed his name as Mayor. What am I missing?

You guys see this? - Disney Infinity. It has some promise. I will definitely consider buying this if we see some "Gargoyles" characters.

thefallen: Considering Greg W. isn't answering questions right now, I didn't see the harm in taking a short break in approving questions.

I'll get back to doing so soon, I assure you. But as another queue closure won't be imminent so long as YJ is back to airing regularly, there's no disadvantage in patience.

Supermorff> Ah, I see what you're referring to. Good catch! ;)
Redhawk

I bet if they bring back the series, it would be as 2198. New characters and a setting in the future means should allow everyone to catch on pretty fast to what's going on, regardless of if you watched the original show or not. I would just hope they had the original voice actors when Brooklyn, Demona, and MacBeth make their appearance.
Brack

Why haven't they aproved or deleted the question list?

I would love to know if my question will be approved eventually :P

thefallen

D'oh. That was me, sorry.
Supermorff

Anthony Tini> Did you notice in the movie what people called Jean Valjean when he was the Mayor?
Anonymous

@Redhawk Thanks, I did not know that. I wonder if this will be a Time Dancing story or if Demona is involved somehow. I hope it's a story we see someday.

Red - the color of Brooklyn!
Black - the night he comes alive!
Red - the phoenix will avail!
Black - the barricade shall thrive!

Anthony> I also enjoyed Les Miserables. On Gargwiki's timeline, there's a reference to the revolution of the barricades, an important event in the story. Also, Greg has talked a little about Jean Valjean.

I started re-reading the Bad Guys comic (the paperback) last night... it's just so great and detailed. So much information on so little space.
And how I wish that the story was continued soon... well, don't we all? Fanfiction can never keep up with the quality of the canon stuff.

Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

January tenth 1997 is the date of the start and end of Brooklyn's TimeDance. I wonder if he and/or any of his fellow dancers commemorate that date in any way.

We're now sixteen years and four days ahead of the last canon depiction of our winged friends. While I find some amusement in that mathematical congruence, I'm still annoyed we don't have more. C'mon Disney, cough up!

Saw Les Misérables yesterday. I really enjoyed it. Solid 4 out of 5 stars. It did not feel like 2.5 hours long.

This just proves that J. Jonah Jameson was right. We have Spider-Man breaking into the White House, past the Secret Service and webbing the President of the United States! Is there no end to this menace? I wish Dr. OCTOPUS would just kill him and rape his ex-girlfriend, already

Maybe it's just my computer, but whenever I try to post at the old TGS room, the security code won't load, making posting impossible. Is anyone else having this problem? More importantly, does anyone besides me even go there at all anymore?
