Sure thing. I'm on my phone, but here's the link~ https://mobile.twitter.com/matthewmercer/status/681015061024903169

They were retweeting a link to a popular article that's been going for a few days now. The author, Jordan Calhoun, wrote talking about how "Gargoyles" influenced his childhood. A lot of people tweeted it to Mr. Weisman! :) Here's the link~ http://blacknerdproblems.com/gargoyles-was-the-most-important-cartoon-of-my-pre-intellectual-black-childhood/

Can you provide a link to the tweets that say this? That's pretty interesting.

Happy New Year! :D

With the news of the "Gargoyles" cinestory comic and the hints we've been getting from Mr. Sparrow and Mr. Aaron on Twitter, let's do our best as "Gargoyles" fans to help boost the sales for it and other merchandises so we can make new stories for "Gargoyles" happen! :D I saw on Twitter that popular voice actors Yuri Lowenthal and Matthew Mercer are fans of the show! I think that's very cool.

Promotion is key among fandom to help ensure a show's success, after all! Reaching out to popular VAs, even the cast of "Gargoyles" through SNS, can really help with the series. :)

Happy New Year from Phoenix!

May the year 2016 be filled with many a wonderful Weisman story, but fingers crossed that some of them are (new) Gargoyles stories :D

I know Greg has said the name Xanatos was chosen for its similarity to Thanatos, but I never understood why. It's not like David Xanatos has much in common with the god of death. I suppose he does want to conquer death by becoming immortal...

Of course it's a real name; my comment was about what I guessed to be its etymology.

Before the invention of the printing press, texts were copied by hand, and of course errors would have been made in those copies.

Darn; I guess this comment room doesn't take Greek letters. Anyway, that's my theory of where the name Xanatos came from; a misspelling of Thanatos due to morphological similarities between the capital Theta and the capital Xi.

Three squared.

I've been thinking about the name Xanatos lately, for some reason. It looks a lot like the Greek word ΘΑΝΑΤΟΣ (Thanatos), and I would guess that the name originally came from a mistranscription of the initial Theta in that word as Xi, spelling ΞΑΝΑΤΟΣ; the capital Theta and Xi do look pretty similar, even though they sound quite different.

Sixth.

Today marks the 950th anniversary of the consecration of Westminster Abbey in 1065. Westminster Abbey, of course, is familiar to "Gargoyles" fans not only for its being a major London landmark in real life, but also the place where King Arthur and Griff first met - not to mention getting staked out by Arthur, Macbeth, Griff, Lexington, Hudson, Constance, and Staghart during the Stone of Destiny adventure (and broken into by Macbeth and his fellow Scottish patriots on Christmas in 1950).

Westminster Abbey has a more subtle connection to "Gargoyles"; it was built by Edward the Confessor (who, alas, was too ill to attend the consecration and died a few days later), the King of England at the time of Canmore's victory over Macbeth in 1057, and who supplied Canmore some help (though the bulk of the English help came more from northern English nobles than from Edward himself). Edward was a pious man, but I suspect his piety was the kind that would have seen gargoyles as demonic creatures that should be wiped out (and he might have empathized with Canmore; he'd been forced into exile himself as a boy - Normandy, in this case, to live among Princess Katharine's distant relatives on her mother's side - after his father had lost the throne of England). Not that much of his work survives; what you see of Westminster Abbey nowadays was mostly the work of Henry III (the longest-reigning and least exciting of the Plantagenet kings of England), the father of Edward I (the same Edward I who seized the Stone of Destiny from the Scots and put it in Westminster Abbey, in the Coronation Chair).

I was surrounded by an accident while driving back from Chicago today.

Was I even remotely at fault, you ask?

I plead the Fifth.

(but in truth, no I wasn't at fault and I wasn't directly impacted by it at all)
