Aren't the gargoyles on Notre Dame made of stone? I don't think they would burn easily in that case.
Come to think of it, under what conditions CAN stone burn? I know it's not as flammable as wood, for example.

MATTHEW> I imagine the post-Space Spawn invasion Notre Dame Clan wiil be made up of mostly of gargs descended from the existing thirteen clans. So they'll probably be a pretty diverse looking bunch.

You know all of this has got me thinking. We actually know very little about the gargoyles that occupied or will occupy France (we know there will be a Notre Dame Clan in the future). I mean we don't even know what physically differentiates them from the rest of their European brethren, which I find kind of odd considering that the word "gargoyle" comes from the French "gargouille."

I should have mentioned this earlier, but a couple of weeks ago, the webcomic Gunnerkrigg Court (which I follow) introduced a new character, a winged dragonlike creature with a fairly humanoid build. In the forum, somebody wondered if the person who drew it had been influenced by "Gargoyles", and one or two other people there remembered the series - and spoke highly of it (apart from "The Goliath Chronicles", of course, but you can't blame them).

Count me as another whose thoughts and wishes are with the people of Paris. Still, it's nice to see that some good has come out of this - so many individuals coming together, united in common cause. It's even resulted in some spillover; apparently, donations to rebuild the historically black churches which were maliciously burned in Louisiana saw a significant spike this week.
On another (much more minor, but pleasant) note, I was happily surprised to come across this - and of course purchase it - at Box Lunch (the slightly "higher end" version of Hot Topic) the other day:

Don't know if this shirt was on anyone's radar, but it's quite good quality.

Does anyone know how the architectural gargoyles of Notre Dame fared?

Fortunately, no one was killed, and a lot of the relics, artwork, statues, and so on had already been moved out because of the ongoing renovations, and some French billionaires have already pledged massive amounts of money to see it repaired.

I haven't been to many cathedrals (mostly because I'm not Catholic) but I have always wanted to see Notre Dame.
My heart goes out to Paris and to the people of France.
