You know what I'd like to see? A fake out timeskip. Like the season begins in the 30th century with the Legion of Superheroes before jumping back into the present day.
Or something similar to that.

So I got a comment on my blog that was supposedly from "S8.org" though when I checked the link I was sent to a dating app.
Not sure what that means other then someone's trying to spam my site under the guise of an actual site I frequent.

Adam> Sorry, Honest Trailers folks. Thanks for the support...but that's the wrong Captain Marvel with which to be making requests about Disney properties.
Klarion's been bingeing Stranger Things 3 apparently.
Business as usual

We now return to the more Rated-R segments of Young Justice. Here are my thoughts on Season 3 Episode 18
You know watching Klarion's little Project Rutabaga reminds me of a bit in the Teen Titans comic where Beast Boy laments the high mortality rate for young heroes compared to adults and how quickly they're forgotten. All I can say is THANK GOD THAT'S NOT THE CASE. Because a bunch of kids being tortured until their meta-gene activates then branded with a slave glyph before being turned into some amalgamated flesh monster before dying would be just a little much for me.

Speaking of dying, we got another bombshell. Halo's dying. Her healing power is taking a toll on her overall health. I think this may have something to do with the fact that her spirit latched onto a dead body rather than a live one and eventually that necrosis is going to catch up. And while Dr. Jace may be able to help with her "mentor" (I've got some concerns there). I can't help but think that by the end of the season Halo's going to use the last of her healing power on someone else at the cost of her own life. Now that I think about it, I don't think we've seen her heal anyone else this season. She's purged Vic of his murder.exe programing but never healed anyone the way she's healed herself.

You know, it was a pretty good thing that Zatanna decided to throw the rule book out when she did. As good as the Outsiders did against Klarion (I'm willing to bet our heroes have been training for the eventuality of fighting him again) I don't think they would've been able to handle Klarion for long much less save those kids. And taking him to the Tower of Fate was a stroke of genius (though that could've gone badly for Zatanna). Klarion was almost beaten by Dr. Fate back when he only had Wally's body, I doubt he'd want to go against someone who's actually trained in magic like Zatara.

Speaking of which, is it just me or has Klarion been a bit more scatterbrained compared to other seasons? I know his mind is chaos but back in season 1 there was only the one big scheme to focus on, now the Light's got a lot more schemes this season so it wouldn't surprise me that he's having trouble with his memory much less awareness. I mean he literally teleported to the spot he needed to go to exit the tower and he missed it.

So we've got confirmation that Harper Row not only has her abusive dad from the comics but her bisexuality too. Unfortunately looks like Violet's taking this pretty hard, getting drunk and even throwing out the pretext of being Muslim. Hopefully this isn't an early warning to some more self destructive behavior. Also, thank God this is a fictional world, in the real world I'm pretty sure a cop seeing a Muslim with a firearm would probably shoot first and ask questions never.

The scene with Artemis and Terra training was a good reminder of their similar situations, both abused by a member of the League of Shadows, both very closed off, both have a lash out when things go wrong mentality or Artemis did in that case. I really liked how Terra even flinched when Artemis tried to put her hand on her shoulder, those little details on how people who've been abused and how they react.

Some final thoughts: so Joan Garrick passed away. This is bringing up memories of my grandmother again. After it was announced that the Outsiders have become bigger than the League Beast Boy seems to be aware of the huge pressure that comes with something like that. I'm pretty sure the white-haired girl was supposed to be Dolphin, makes me wonder if the other meta-teens are going to be other established characters. I think I might've seen Klarion's slave glyph on other captives at the Orphanage, I'll have to check back on that episode.
So, this week on the YouTube series Honest Trailers was for Shazam. I don't know how many of you are fans of these, but at the end they do a "staring" part. I never saw Shazam, but apparently, several creatures in the movie resemble Gargoyles. So, in the "staring" part, they showed a brief clip of one of the creatures and said "please make a live action Gargoyles movie".

We have friends out there.

Todd> Thanks. Fun story. I've never heard of Dostoyevsky's story "The Double" until I tried to find the name of Kraven's lion from Spectacular Spider-Man (Golyadkin in the comics, Gulyadkin in the show).

It's something of a running gag that all of Kraven's relatives are named after characters from Dostoyevsky's stories (including Chameleon), I guess that also extends to his pets.

By the way, I snuck in a little shout out the film "So I Married an Axe Murderer" in one of Matt Bluestone's captions. It's a favorite in my family.

MATTHEW - One thing I forgot to mention in your review of "The Edge" yesterday; I also enjoyed your treatment of the scene where Goliath's reading Dostoyevsky, and your suggestion (appropriate for this episode) of which Dostoyevsky story it was. (I think most of us automatically assumed it was "Crime and Punishment", of course, since that's the best-known of his works.)

Seventh!

Summer's been busy and I just only had the time to catch up with Young Justice: Outsiders (not to mention I wanted to rewatch the first half since they first aired on DCUniverse, which I didn't get to until the first batch of episodes dropped).

Won't go into crazy-lengthy details, given its been four episodes of the second half already out (five later today!), but I still
wanted to throw out some highlights that had me laughing or sitting up due to its Weisman-Easter-Egg-Bait-of-it-all.

"Influence"
Finally got to know why the other two Green Lanterns clearly didn't want Guy Gardner to join the Justice League. Good-thing-and-a-Shame they were eventually outvoted, lol.

"Leverage"
In case you didn't know this was Earth-16, that Space Trek 3016, Episode 316, Scene 16, Take 16 was just what the doctor ordred, lol)

"Illusion of Control"
A Star Wars: Rebels reference of Karabast! Loved it.

SpecSpidey-Rhino's chuckle of "Tickles" is quickly reaching Beating-up-a-Beach! status, after hearing Devastation use that quip for two episodes now (and still waiting for that beach line to crop up too, obviously).

I love how Lian learned Artemis's take on the AB-Twinkling-Baa-Blacksheep-C's.

And speaking of nursery rhymes/songs, clearly Devastation and Tommy Tuppence are both fans, what with her complementing his "Snips and Tails and Puppy-Dog Tails" from last season with a "Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice" XD

"First Impression"
I was laughing at how Aqualad looked seriously concerned how that one teen just wouldn't go find shelter/kept live-streaming everything.

So yeah, it's definitely great to have new YJ episodes, and I'll also ponder aloud that (among all the actual big mysteries playing out right now in the show), given the timestamps of the latest episodes and the sheer number of episodes remaining, I wonder if season three is going to end sometime after New Year's/January . . .

So, who's ready for the FIFTH episode of Outsiders' back half tomorrow? In case you forgot, consider this your Early Warning.

Thanks for the review, Matthew.

Reading it made me realize, incidentally, how long it's been since I watched the series on DVD; it took me a little while to remember that Matt first met Elisa when she was hauling the gargoyles' television set in.

So this is MUCH later than I would've liked it, but here's my review of "The Edge" over at my blog. Feedback is always appreciated.

Incidentally, I know Greg called the sparring match between Xanatos and Owen judo but judo doesn't allow for striking in matches. Just a minor martial arts nitpick.
