I don't like Hades being presented as a villain.

Sorry for the double-post, but I discovered an article on movies and television shows that made use of the Arthurian legend, and it included "Gargoyles" on the list (including a still of Goliath holding an unconscious Demona, apparently from "Vows").

They're also doing one on Hades, which will apparently have more fun with Greek mythology (I have fond memories of the animated series based on "Hercules" because of that element).

Dynamite is really loving the villain-oriented comics, with Maleficent and Scar and now Negaduck. It’s difficult for me to imagine a Negaduck comic being that interesting…he’s a great character, but a little one-note to carry his own series. It does make me wonder if we might see a Demona miniseries at some point.

A Negaduck comic is going to be coming from Dynamite.

I've seen the preview of the Fleecs cover of #10, by the way, and
it also features cats rather than dogs, like the Fleecs cover for #6. And these cats have glowing eyes, gargoyle-style. (They share the cover with Bronx and Goliath. Judging from the look of both it and the Fleecs cover for #9, I suspect that these two, along with the Fleecs covers for #11 and #12, will be designed to lie side by side to present a panoramic view of the clan on Manhattan's rooftops at night, accompanied by dogs and cats alike.) Great explanation!

And happy Midsummer Day, everyone!

Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining about it.

TODD> We did do that, but it was non-spoiler since it came out a few days before the release of the issue. Eventually we'll be doing deeper dives into the Dynamite comics... but that's when we get to them in chronological order.

At least that's the plan.

First two seasons of Gargoyles, then the SLG comic, then the Dynamite comic. Though there might be some side quests on the way. :)

BISHANSKY - Thanks, though there's still the review/first impressions of #6, since the most recent "Voices from the Eyrie" podcast (the one on the upcoming "Dark Ages" spin-off) came out before #6 was released.
Todd Jensen

TODD> No comic news on our "Revelations" show, that one is coming out at the end of this month... and since the comics were delayed a week, pushing them into July... well, can't do news and first impressions until they're out.

So, maybe our "Double Jeopardy" show, maybe our "Upgrade" show. One of those two. Depends on how things time out.

San Diego Comic Con is also coming soon, and we might get some news there. Might not.

I don't have much to add. I've been purposefully avoiding teasers.

Ain't nothing crazy 'bout me but my brain!

I wonder if we'll get some mentions of the mystery project at the next "Voices from the Eyrie" podcast as well; the next one will most likely be about "Revelations". (Which will probably be all the more interesting now since that was the episode that introduced Jack Dane, who's featured in the Dynamite comic.)
Todd Jensen

You guys are mentioning all the things I came here to talk about!

I too noticed that the Dark Ages trailer was taken down. I did not get a chance to watch it. I figured something in it was spoiler-y or there was some legal issue.

Issue 8>
Seeing Jackal and Hyena come back is not a surprise to me at all. I think most of us were expecting Wolf to recruit them. I also hope that we get at least a little backstory on their Times Square attack in "Phoenix". Clearly all three Pack members got away which is remarkable considering how outnumbered they were!
And I also just watched the DuckTalks interview and was excited and intrigued by Greg's mystery project that has something to do with the 30th anniversary. If it's not a comic, what could it be? Not sure if we'll find out before next summer or not. But regardless, I'm planning on being in Minneapolis in 2024! Anyone else planning to be there?

Exciting times to be a Gargoyles fan for sure! Never the End!

"I have one absolute rule: No gargoyle left behind. Period." - Brooklyn, "Render Unto Caesar"

I don't believe this has been mentioned here yet: Greg states in his recent DuckTalks podcast interview that he is working on a new Gargoyles/Dynamite project, in addition to Gargoyles and Dark Ages, which is meant to tie in to the 30th anniversary of the show. I wonder if it's a further limited series such as Timedancer, or a standalone single issue of some sort.
Craig

PHOENICIAN -
I missed the echo of the "Three Brothers" heraldic device in the "Dark Ages" trailer. But I can look for it when the first issue comes out.

I remember my own speculations about that off-stage clash, particularly my theory that Jackal and Hyena would have been absolutely incensed about Coldstone, viewing him as an attempt by the gargoyles to copy their own cyber-implants (and ignoring the fact that they'd seen him in that state in the video in "Upgrade", establishing that his cyborg status pre-dated theirs!) - not to mention wondering, upon their first glimpse of Fu-Dog, "When did those guys get a pet lion?"
Happy Solstice!

One of the things that I enjoyed from the pulled Dark Ages teaser,
was the shields from the Three Brothers armies, a clear callback (callforward?) to Brooklyn's first TimeDance to Scotland in 997.
As for the teaser for #8,
I know there's plenty to juggle with the current arc right now, but I'm still looking forward to hearing more on Wolf and Jackal and Hyena's experience after they encountered the expanded Manhattan Clan at the end of "Phoenix".
Gus: "I always forget you're there." Hooty: "I forget I'm here toooooo."

Good thing I watched it when I did.

But it did reinforce the main reason why I'm looking forward to "Dark Ages", my fondness for medieval settings. It reminded me of the flashback scenes in "City of Stone" and "Avalon Part One" (some of my favorite moments in "Gargoyles").

Todd Jensen

Looks like that Dark Ages preview video has been taken down. I wonder why. Clearly, some effort was put into making it, and nothing seemed terribly spoiler-y. Maybe some of the art wasn't yet final?
Craig

Todd >
I saw that, and my first thought was, "Greg is gonna hate this tease." Confirmed shortly thereafter, when I listened to Greg's interview on the DuckTalks podcast, where he refused to confirm whether there would be anymore Pack members joining Wolf. The art looks awesome as usual though@
Craig

Sorry for the double post, but today is the summer solstice, when the gargoyles (at least, those in the norther hemisphere) will have the longest sleep.

Also, there's a new teaser panel for #8 up at @GargoyleNews, and
my theory that Wolf will be bringing a couple of friends along with him for the break-in has apparently been confirmed.
Todd Jensen

"Mark of the Panther" would also fit Father's Day, with the Goliath and Angela thread.
Todd Jensen

That one definitely sprung to mind for Juneteenth, as well as “Cloud Fathers” for Fathers Day (a nice pairing reflecting Elisa’s background). Also “Double Jeopardy” for a darker take on fathers. I have the toughest time thinking of a Pride Month episode though, since they of course couldn’t directly (or for the most part even indirectly) address that theme back then. I suppose just any Lexington-focused episode would have to do?
Craig

"Mark of the Panther" would definitely fit that list.
Todd Jensen

Todd> We went with the City of Stone arc. I don't remember the full list we had for Juneteenth/Pride/Father's Day but I remember that "Mark of the Panther" was one of them.
Matthew

Sweet new Dark Ages trailer: https://youtu.be/VA1El2e8HTk
Craig

So was it the "City of Stone" commentary, or the set of single episodes designed to celebrate Father's Day, Juneteenth, and Pride Month? If the latter, which episodes were they?
Todd Jensen

Thanks again, Brainiac! That was fun.
