MATT - [Bummed that the first issue was delayed. Hope to see it in either 4 days, or 11.]

A delay might not be a bad thing, if it allows time to fix the "bot-scraping" problem before the release finally takes place. That way, we won't have to worry about the site constantly becoming inaccessible while posting our reviews here.

One interesting thing Greg Weisman talked about in the latest Voices was
that Goliath was absorbing Odin's strength to the point that eventually he would've become a full blown avatar of Odin and Odin as a separate entity would no longer exist similar to what happened to Anubis when merging with the Emir and Jackal.
Another fun episode of course, and seemingly one with some possible connections to the Better Angels storyline.

And we've got a new "Voices from the Eyrie" podcast on "Eye of the Storm" (plus a little discussion on the upcoming "Gargoyles"/"Fantastic Four" crossover and "Demona" #0 - both of which struck me as appropriate sub-topics for a talk about "Eye of the Storm" for different reasons).

Thanks Gorebash. Don't need anyone scraping the site, bot or otherwise.

GOREBASH - Thanks for telling us. (Are the bots scraping this site at random, or are they deliberately targeting it - say, programmed by one of the trolls who've visited here?)
Todd Jensen

Looks like the site is being scraped by several bots. It's putting a massive load on the server and that's causing a lot of the problems. I'm limited in what I can do, but I'll try blocking as much as I can to limit their burden.

MATTHEW - It's been happening to me as well. At least this means that it isn't a problem with my computer, that whatever's causing it is connected to the site itself. I hope it gets solved soon.

Algae> I've been hitting bugs over the last week or so as well. It's been the "this site's connection isn't secure" or "it took too long to load."

Perhaps someone a little more tech savvy can figure out what's going on. I know this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

The real living insane one

ALGAE -
It wouldn't be the first time that the Averoigne stories were adapted by somebody. Back in the 80's, there was a "Dungeons & Dragons" module called "Chateau d'Ambreville", which made use of those stories - the adventure involved a castle inhabited by a very bizarre family of wizards who'd been exiled from Averoigne, and near the end, the party would need to go to Averoigne and take part in the events of some of those same stories, though "The Maker of Gargoyles" wasn't one of them.
Second!

Algae, thanks again for linking to that short story. It was creepy and I look forward to seeing it adapted into Demona #3!

First?

Wanted to post my respects to the late great Peter David last night but the CR was bugging out on me. He was a true legend in his field. His Writing for Comics and Graphic Novels was a big help when I started writing myself.

ELDER MATT> If you enjoyed
The Maker of Gargoyles, Clark Ashton Smith wrote a about a dozen other 'weird tales' set in the same fictional setting; the witch-haunted French province of Averoigne. All of them should be available for free online and most would make good fodder for future Gargoyles stories.
