NEW Winter Special: Based on the solicitation, I am curious when Elisa's first year as a detective fits in the timeline. I'm also looking forward to more of Kambadais's double-page art spreads. :--)

The last winter special was a nice little story even if it didn't add much. On the other hand, a pre-series look into one of the leads has got to be an interesting character dive.

Matt > Yes, that was the last arc they did in the old Marvel comics (written by the late Mort Todd). I've always thought that was by far the most interesting storyline in the Marvel run (even if the execution wasn't perfect), and something I wouldn't mind at all being incorporated into canon. This story sounds like it won't be quite as "heavy," but I still welcome a glimpse of Elisa's earlier career.

MATT - I remember reading about that story (though I never read it, just a summary of it at "Gargoyles" web-sites), and even thought of it when I read the solicitation for the upcoming Winter Special. It also struck me that apparently a bit of weirdness entered Elisa's life even before that first night at the Eyrie Building.

What is especially exciting for me about the upcoming Winter Special is a look at Elisa's life as a detective before meeting the Gargoyles. We have never gotten much back story on her beyond her family connections. I look forward to seeing more of her professional life before it got "a little crazy". It reminds me that something I always found fascinating from the old Marvel Gargoyles run was Elisa getting promoting for a wrongful conviction or something like that. I thought that was a cool angle they took.

BRAINIAC - Thanks for sharing the news with us about the new Winter Special. It's great, in particular, to learn that Lance will be returning for another team-up with Bronx (now even Bronx has made his own friend in the human world - well, Lance isn't a human, but you know what I mean....).

Great news about the new Winter Special. I especially love that fourth cover, with Elisa. Beautiful ambiance.
Looks like we're getting a lot of Gargoyles comic content for the rest of this year. Gargoyles News currently shows three comics releasing over a span of four weeks from October 15-November 5. (Am I misremembering, or are the Fantastic Four issues releasing in the opposite order of how Greg said he intended them? I thought he'd said the Dynamite one was supposed to be read first.)
Also, a minor error I caught rereading Demona #3:
the surname of Nicolette and her father is spelled differently each time it's mentioned. On page 10, it's spelled "Vilom," but on page 14, it's "Villom" (as in the original story). Hopefully this will be corrected in the eventual collected edition.
"GHOSTS OF WINTERS PAST!
For Elisa Maza, December is bittersweet. She loves the snowy streets of New York City and the bustle of the holiday season - and having a Gargoyle boyfriend who carries her above the skyscrapers to see all of the festive lights is a pretty great perk.
But the month also reminds her of an unsolved mystery from her first year as a detective - a baffling break-in that featured odd clues, a stolen family heirloom, and vague descriptions of a lumbering "thing" that was seen only in the shadows. As she tells Goliath one icy winter night, the fact that she was never able to crack the case still gnaws at her, even after all these years.
And that's all that Broadway needs to overhear to convince him to don his private eye trench coat and reopen the investigation - accompanied, of course, by Bronx and his bull terrier pal, Lance!
Co-written by Gargoyles creator GREG WEISMAN and NATE COSBY, and illustrated by GEORGE KAMBADAIS, this 40-page one-shot uncovers a chilly new chapter in the saga of the Stone Guardians - frosted with crystalline covers from KAMBADAIS, JAE LEE & JUNE CHUNG, ROGER LANGRIDGE, and ALESSANDRO RANALDI!"

I don't want to make an assumption. We've had more than a few bots that put in a bare minimum of acting like people. Perhaps we should wait for a follow-up?
