Has there been a selection made in the guest who will write the introduction to Clan-Building volume 2? And is there going to be a guest intro for Bad Guys?
There's no intro to Clan-Building Volume 2. I haven't seen the Bad Guys proofs yet.
Suggestions for someone to write the intro for Volume 2:
I think it would be nice to have an opinion of the show from someone else in television animation, but unrelated to Gargoyles. Get Bruce Timm or Paul Dini and I'll be happy.
Don't know if either of them are Garg fans...

I know it isn't any more of a given that an actor is a good writer than a writer is a good actor, but Ed Asner might be an interesting person to write an intro. It's the type of unexpected thing that might catch a little attention. (I still remember being surprised at Patrick Stewart's intro to a Transmetroplitan- made even funnier by not looking who wrote it till I got to the sign off.) And he's have the built in story of seeing the description, "Hudson hates spunk" and knowing he had the role.
That's a very good suggestion.
Clan Building Volume 2 Forward Candidates.
- Michael Reaves seems like an obvious choice, and he's popular in the animation/sci-fi/fantasy circles.
- Cary Bates? His Superman run is still well regarded, I think. He seems like a logical idea, and you're both old friends.
- Crispin Freeman? He's extremely popular in anime circles.
- Frakes or Sirtis? Might help boost interest among the Trekkies.
- Tad Stones. He seems to be having hits with his Hellboy DVD movies, and being that he was at Disney for a long time, and suggested a "big heroic gargoyle", he seems like a good choice.
- Very Long shot, but according to my brother, Brian Michael Bendis liked "Gargoyles". He says at G2003, he was in an elevator with Bendis. If you remember, they had that big comic convention at Madison Square Garden that weekend, and a lot of the guests were staying in our hotel. I heard this from my brother though, but thought suggesting it would be harmless.
All great suggestions.
You asked people who should do the forward in the next trade and so far the only name I have seen come up is Joss and I figured given that you indicated that may be easier said then done I figured another good name to throw out there is Paul Dini.
Paul's great, but I have no idea if he's even seen Gargoyles.
Greg,
I don't know if Peter Jackson or George Lucas are/were fans of Gargoyles, but an intro by either of them for the TPB Vol 2 would be awesome.
Also, I know you were a fan of Gummy Bears. Were the creators of Gummy Bears fans of Gargoyles? Maybe people involved in Gummy Bears like Art Vitello, David Block, Diane Dixon, Jymn Magon, Bruce Talkington, Alan Burnett, Bryce Malek, or Mark Zaslove could do an intro for you?
Maybe you can have a contest and the winning fan can have a shot at it?
Bruce Talkington passed away, unfortunately.
I don't know a few of those people mentioned (like, say Lucas) and I'm not in touch with many of the others anymore, though I still talk to Jymn and Alan on occasion. I'm not sure they were gargoyles fans though. But they're good suggestions. Tad Stones might be good too.
Hey Greg,
It would be incredible if you could get Joss Whedon to write the intro for Clan-Building Volume Two. I know that might be a bit of a stretch, but it would be great, and could probably turn some Buffy/Angel fans on to the series, who may have been previously unaware of Gargoyles.
Just a fanboy's wishful thinking.
That would be great. But (a) I don't know him or any way to contact him and (b) I have no idea if he's a fan or even aware of Gargoyles' existence.
Hi Greg!
I got the Clan-Building Vol 1 TPB, and I think it's really great! I especially loved the Introduction by Wendy Pini. This past summer I attended the 20th Anniversary fan convention for the Beauty and the Beast TV series (1987-1990) where I got to meet Wendy Pini in person (she was a special guest at the Con). She's terrific, and I like the fact that being both a BatB fan and Gargoyles fan, she wrote the intro to this Gargoyles TPB.
My question is: Did you contact Wendy and ask her to contribute, or was she the one who contacted you to say she'd like to contribute an intro to the TPB?
I asked her, and she very graciously agreed to do it.
Actually, any thoughts from anyone on who might be a good choice to write an intro to Volume Two?
