It almost seems like the contest went on hold during the Louisiana trip. Back into the grind now. Yes, I stopped my "let's try every three digit number possible" after about thirty entries. I didn't want to go too far before getting a reaction to what I was doing. Now I'm almost dreading that reaction. In the meantime somebody actually guessed one of them, and it was the year of the Wyvern massacre. So now I must try some other significant years for the other robot (which I noticed is a four digit number, not another three). So here goes:

One other thing... This new contest hurts my head. Just trying to keep up with the right answers is tough enough. I haven't even dared trying to formulate any guesses and I can't imagine how much work it is for you answering everyone. Bless you and those that enter the contest and thank you all for those of us trying to keep up.

Hi Greg,

It's been a long time since I posted a question here, and I can see that I'm late for the current game, but better late than never, eh?

Hopefully more to come later. I've got some questions/thoughts on your 2198 outline, but I'll hold off until the contest ends. Thanks for posting the outline! I've enjoyed piecing it together.

Ask and you shall receive. I've been keeping a running tab, a quick html conversion gives us:
http://bobcat.bradley.edu/~rkremer/garg/
Not fancy by any means but it gets the job done.

But how come I never heard that someone had a clan contest website? And what about this?
"(It was described as a cobra's tail in Vashkoda's prize...)"
I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering now, what's the URL where we can see this?

Greg responds...

I don't know. Ask Vash in the comment room.

(Robin, thanks for the vote of confidence, but it's still too early for congratulations.)

Greg,

Earlier I promised to stay logical and not resort to random trial and error guessing. But after thinking about it a little more, I have a question.

I have made the assumption that the answers can be reached logically, but is that really the case? In the clans contest, Korea was (as far as we're concerned) completely out of the blue. Are any of these answers "not hinted at"?

Specifially I'm thinking of the Maza descendent in paragraph 233-253. Is he named after someone (either in-universe or out) or is it just a name you picked out of the air.

Also the robots' designations in paragraph 306-339. Do they have any significance, or are they random numbers?

(P.S. You've already given us plenty of hints, so feel free to reply with "Not saying." I'm just hoping to prevent tons of random mindless guessing, if possible.)

Thanks

Greg responds...

I'm not saying, but I think you'll find that the answers will all make some sense once they are found out.

And I just double-checked. I got the clue correct on both of those. Whew.

Ok, I hope those answers haven't been guessed already, they hadn't as of your Sept. 30 ramble, but I didn't bother to look at the ones that were being submitted, but haven't been checked yet, becuase they may not be right.

Greg responds...

And yet, if they were there they'd have beat you to them anyway, so checking would have sped things up for me at least.

However, I'm not sorry. You're the reason I caught those two additional errors, so thanks.

Hi,

I guess I should give a brief introduction since I'm new here (this being my first post and all). My name's Eleanor and I'm from NYC. I've been a fan of Gargoyles since it came out back in '94 when I was in fourth grade. I remember rushing back home from school Mondays thru Thursdays so I could manage to record the show on tape (much to my grandmother's bewilderment). My favorite episodes had been "Eye of the Beholder," "The Mirror," "Hunter's Moon" trilogy, and "The Journey". I was saddened to hear the series was cancelled in 1997, but wonders what the internet could offer (I discovered this part of the site 1 week ago) - I never knew there would be so many fans! I loved how you interwoven so many legends/myths into your show; my knowledge of Shakespeare had been limited (well, I was in grade school) until I watched the episodes. Last year my English 10 Honors class was studying "MacBeth" - I was able to recognize many of the names from the play. Thank you for expanding the imagination of the child I was six years ago and making me the lover of legends I am today.

All right, I think I'm getting too off-topic... wouldn't want to put anyone to sleep :) Anyway---

Greg,
By now you can see that things are slowing down with the G2198 contest. It started out as a sprint, but I think in the long run it will still be a marathon. We've filled in all the easy ones, and the rest might take a while.

Although some may resort to the trial and error method, I will continue to base my guesses on careful thought and logic. (Except for the occasional wild guess.)

And speaking of wild guesses:
42: expectorated (??)

PS: I'm sorry this contest isn't turning out like you thought, but I'm enjoying it. }:)
