So in Young Justice, you cast Bruce Greenwood as Batman, but not John DiMaggio as the Joker. Any reason on ditching that match-up? I find it amusing.

Greg responds...

I don't know why it's amusing. We weren't/aren't in continuity with the Red Hood movie. But we felt Bruce was right for our Batman, and that John's interpretation of Joker wasn't right for our version of the character. Love John's work, however, as any fan of The Spectacular Spider-Man must know.

Hi Greg,
I recently finished watching Young Justice and loved it and I have some questions.
1) What was your favorite episode?
2)When did you start reading DC comics? Did you grow up reading them or is it just something you read before the production of the show?

Greg responds...

1. I kinda love them all. But if I had to pick just one, it would probably be "Misplaced."

2. I grew up reading DC and Marvel comics since I was a little kid.

Why didn't Artemis break things off with Wally after she accepted the undercover mission in season two? Between her saying she couldn't have said yes fast enough when it came to accepting the mission and her knowing that Wally had wanted to leave the hero life behind, her ending things with him would have seemed to be the decent thing to do if she really cared about and wanted what was best for him. He appeared to be under the impression she was coming back to their life as it was when it was over while everything from her perspective said that was questionable at best.

The idea that Wally spent the last few months of his life being absolutely miserable, having to lie to his family & friends, and face his guilt about letting Paula think her daughter was dead as he looked after her for Artemis while she couldn't even be honest with him about what she wanted really gave me a negative view of their relationship. I didn't have any problem with her choosing to accept the mission or her wanting to return to the team, but I do think Wally absolutely deserved to know she was having doubts about the retirement and their life together. It seemed to be a case of her telling him it was something she needed to do when it was really something she wanted to do.

Was this simply a case of poor execution (at least in my opinion) on part of the show? Or, was Artemis intentionally stringing him along as a safety net while she waited to see how everything played out with the mission and the team once their manipulation became known like it seemed she did? I ended up thinking the Reach ultimately did Artemis a favor since his death allowed her to avoid having to do the work of ending things with him. That it would have been only a matter of time before the renewed specialness of their relationship and life together would have worn off for her again once things settled down if he had survived.

Greg responds...

She didn't want to break up with him. So if you want to chalk it up to poor execution, go right ahead. But I'm happy with it. And nothing you've written above changes my mind.

In Agendas when Lex uses Red Sun on Superboy he freezes on spot, but in Usual Suspects when Superboy pretends to be under its influence he doesn't freeze immediately. He reacts to the trigger and then loosens up and immobilizes. Shouldn't Lex see he was only pretending?

Greg responds...

I think you're splitting hairs.

1. Did Vandal Savage have multiple children over the years to improve the human race? I am aware he had named children in the comics and I am not asking if they will appear just in general did he decide to improve the human race with his bloodline over the years?
2. Does Vandal Savage have the potential to know every single language since he was born before civilization
3. His incarnation in Young Justice is much more cerebral and more restrained then his previous portrayals what made you decide to go in this direction with the character? In my opinion it should be the standard how you portray lead antagonists.

Greg responds...

1. No spoilers.

2. Potentially, all Earth languages, yes.

3. It felt right and true to the character.

1. When Klarion called Zatanna spells' baby magic was he referring to her way of using magic speaking backwards or spoken magic in general?
2. Why would some magic users call themselves wizards or witches as opposed to sorcerers or sorceresses for example Wizard as a wizard and Wotan as a sorcerer?
3. How did Kent Nelson get away from Doctor Fate's control since the good doctor seems to be very strict with free will when it comes to fighting Chaos?

Greg responds...

1. Mostly neither, but maybe a little of the former.

2. I'm gonna say that you need to ask them. These may all be synonyms of a sort in the Earth-16 universe.

3. In those days, he took off the helmet after a mission. One day, he just never put it back on.

1) How do you try to keep things unpredictable when you know that by the simple law of enough monkeys with enough typewriters, some fan out there will figure out any twist sooner or later?
2) How do you balance keeping a villain interesting/likable without making it so much so that the audience roots for them instead of the protagonist?

Greg responds...

1. Can't worry about that. We tell the stories that we want to tell. That our characters tell us we need to tell. Inevitably, some percentage of our audience will figure out our game. Inevitably, some will be surprised. If the story is well-told, hopefully both groups will still enjoy it.

2. Give them motivation that makes sense, but don't sugarcoat their actions.

How come you don't edit on GargWiki anymore?

Greg responds...

Honestly, I'm not on there much these days. Is there stuff to edit?

how does it feel to finaly break the 3 season curse your fans insist that you have?

Greg responds...

I've been on season threes before. So I have no idea how to respond to this. I'm aware that some fans think (or thought) it existed. But it never made much sense to me, and still doesn't. It's also borderline harmful to my career.

I was one time rewatching all of The Spectacular Spider-Man episodes and I noticed in the episode Identity Crisis smaller fronted overlapped letters on the word Kevin Michael Richardson on the closing credit. Was that some kind of goof/glitch and if so how can it happen out of curiosity or perhaps are the letters supposed to be some kind of word maybe? I wish if it is some kind of glitch that it could be fixed someday because I seemed to be triggered by OCD/intrusive thoughts/unwanted thoughts on it lately which seems to make me have anxiety feelings.

Greg responds...

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you're talking about. How were you watching the episode?
