do you know that glaad once honored bill clinton - the president who literally signed the defense of marriage act into law, used it as part of his re-election campaign, never apologized for it, and then when his wife ran for president, lied that it was a strategic move to prevent republicans from trying a constitutional amendment? oh, and he also instituted don’t ask don’t tell. and they honored him as an advocate for change…strange, isn’t it?

they also backed the AT&T/T-Mobile deal years ago after taking donations from AT&T year ago - they got so much backlash from the gay community their leader had to resign. why would a gay rights organization even get involved in that deal, you ask? because they need to keep their corporate donors happy in order to function. this is why they’re so quick to call out homophobia from conservatives but more reluctant to do so when it comes from liberals, who they rely on for press, policy changes, and donations.

my point is, they are not some flawless group of angels. they have done a lot of good, but there are a lot of politics at play. so just because glaad has signed off on something you did, doesn’t mean they speak for the majority. if you have a significant number of people disagreeing with them, you should be open to listening instead of shutting them down.
