Hello, I'm interested in the names of the Mayan clans.

Zafiro, Obsidiana, Jade, and Turquesa seem to use more modern names, rather than those in the ancient Mayan language like K'iche. Did they adapt with the language change?

The Mayan sun amulet and its pendants are said to contain the stones sapphire, obsidian, jade, and turquoise. However, I've learned that the Maya didn't mine sapphire because there are no known deposits of it in their region. But they are said to have mined tourmaline, which can be blue like sapphire. Is it possible that the modern Mayan clan is confusing tourmaline with sapphire?
