Not so much of a question but I’ve read your posts about how you wish you could service atheism and agnostism on Young Justice but you find it implausible and as such hard to do so. As an atheist I thought I’d weigh in on the topic,

In both posts I’ve seen you discuss this I’ve seen you refer to the soul of a being being tangibly real in Earth-16 and that is undoubtedly the case however I do not see that the existence of a soul has anything to do with atheism or agnostism which are to do with the belief in deities.

I think many facets of Earth-16 could strengthen belief in various religions. The existence of demons is one such factor. Other factors could weaken belief in various religions. The existence of New Gods shows that claims of godhood are not exactly full proof and that any god could be a powerful alien or an immortal metahuman and his children all of which is explainable through science much like magic was for Wally in season 1.

Until their is definitive, undeniable proof of an all powerful creator on Earth-16 I think there is ample room for atheism and agnostism within the setting as much as their is for religion in the setting.

Just my two centres on the topic of course.

Religion has always been a fascinating topic for me so while I am an atheist thank for for portraying it interestingly and realistically within the show.

Good Evening Mrs. Weisman!
I have a question about brain blasts. When the Martians attacked the Gar he was not in a catatonic state, but in invasion when M'gann did so, his victims were left with their minds shattered, so to speak. What is the difference between M'gann's Brian Blast and the other Martians' Brain Blasts?

Thanks fou yor time!

What is bart's relationship (professional or personal) like with Barry Allen/the flash?

In "Bloodlines" bart showed a hero worship for him.
Bart's been shown at the house with iris when Barry wasnt there.
And in "Elder Wisdom" Jay was the one to show up as the adult in bart life. There didn't seem to be as much personal or professional interaction between Barry and Bart to give a picture

1. Did Wolf go to live at the Kent farm after Superboy died and if so why? I find it hard to believe he wouldn't stay with his family of Miss Martian, Sphere and Baby. Not to mention wouldn't he be a support for Miss Martian?
2. How often did Miss Martian go to visit Superboy's memorial on the watchtower?
3. Now that Conner is back, is Wolf returning to live with him and M'gann or is he staying at the Kent farm permanently?
4. Why didn't you give us a scene of Miss Martian visiting Superboy's memorial like Artemis, Kaldur and Dick?!?

1. Did M'gann throw Conner the biggest welcome home party ever? Since she loves to throw him birthday parties every year than I wouldn't be surprised if she threw him a GIANT welcome home party?
2. When did Miss Martian seek the Kents blessings to marry Superboy? Year and Month?

4. Did Dick and Barbara have an on-again/off-again relationship?

While I suspect the answer to these questions may all be the same year, I'll ask them all just in case:

1) When did Danny Chase run away from home?

2) When was he abducted?

3) When was he made into the Kaizer-Thrall?

Thank you!

Hi Greg,

What year did Timat come to Earth, and what year did Marduk defeat her (if not the same year)?

If you can't reveal the exact year, can you say which came first, Tiamat or Starro?

Thanks!

Mr Fan and Mr Disappointed - Sequel writes...

Hi Greg ! REALLY hope you'll see this post or somebody will bring it to your attention, because it wouldn't make much sense that you read it in one year. Maybe Marvelman (which discussed about it with me at the time) can signal it to you on twitter, since I don't have it. (Thank you if you do it).

First, I want to apologize about being so vindictive in my criticism, I reacted directly after seeing the episode, and I was really mad. Not mad at you, just sooo frustrated that Zatanna (one of my favs characters ever) got less screentime and focus than prayers and religious talking.
I guess I wasn't expecting that. Hard to believe, though, that Artemis got complains about her little screentime, since you developed her family story and character, with her sister, father, flash-backs and so on... Artemis'arc was really about Artemis, but I guess you'll always have complains anyway.
And to be very clear, even if I could, I will still not try to prevent you from saying this or talking about that or that. That's YOUR show, and I understand very well that a writer's first duty is to follow his own mind without listening to other people around him. Or else, you're doing marketing.
So, even if, say, you've chosen to talk about religion all season 5 long (providing there will be one), I'll be sad and mad and disappointed and so on, but I prefer this than deciding for you.
Just to be clear. I'll never tell you you've done wrong. You do what you wanna do, and I like it or not. Period.

As for using the ''Jehovah's Witnesses as some kind of ultimate example of cultish religious extremism '' I would answer you that when you refuse (and I have witnessed that) a blood transfusion for your kid when he/her is about to die, and in case the doctors still want to save him and do the transfusion you ABANDON your own child... I mean, just an example, all right, and I could find many more, What do you call extremism then ? But I didn't say they were the worst out there, that was just an example of atrocious religious brain-washing. And again, I don't target religious people, only religion. Religious people are mainly victims. Objectively, that's the number one source of atrocities in the world today.

If you wanna talk about faith, you can do that outside of religion. It's not only religious faith out there ! I'm an agnostic, and I have some kind of faith about the universe. Don't know how to describe it, but I'm feeling something. Everybody has faith, in his own way. Being agnostic or even atheist doesn't mean you don't think there's an afterlife or a higher power. There are other possibilities than the VERY silly ones proposed by religion. Because, yes, religion is silly. I'm not saying they're wrong, but they're silly. Because, if they're not silly, nothing is. The word ''silly'' exists to designate something. And what could be more silly than saying God has a kid, or judaism (you must be aware of that) spreads through the blood of the mother ?

In fact, when you say it would be difficult to include atheists in the show, I think nothing is more wrong than that. All an atheist must do to be right is to prove the religions are wrong. And you, have definitely proved religious claims to be wrong in earth16.
Huh ?
Yes, because let's take Vandal Savage, for instance. He's 50000 years old, and religions are saying the world is 6000 years old. So Vandal is a living proof that contradicts religions (the main ones at least). And it's not because the soul exists in your world that this proves religions to be right. Anyway, that would be too long to discuss, I've already made a more detailed post about it under my other name ''Paladin''.
Religions are inconsistent anyway, given that every religious textbook is contradicting itself at some point. Which religious people will never admit, but anyway...
An atheist is perfectly ready to accept anything that comes his way, as long as there is proof. He doesn't make unfounded claims like religious people do. So he can very well accept demons and new gods and stuff. And an agnostic is even more tolerant, because he's just saying he doesn't know. So that the humblest position you could have.

As for Khalid, I don't think you can compare his presence to Zatara's because he's been introduced especially for this episode, and Zatara is a long time season 1 character. But anyway, not important.

I would have much more to say, and I'm sure you would too, but I guess this is already taking too long.
SO, at last, I'm sorry if I sounded obnoxious or anything else, I didn't mean to, I acted on impulse because I DO LOVE that show so much, and I thank you and Brandon for bringing those wonderful stories to us. Hope you'll do great, and good luck for everything !

PS : sorry if there are unreadable characters, I've noticed that before in my text, but can't quite correct it. Hope this will still be readable.

1.- Does the “S” symbol of the house of El mean “Hope” on Earth 16
1.b What does the “Z” of the house of Zod stand for on earth 16?

2.-Given Kara was in the phantom zone, is it safe to assume Was Kandor destroyed along Krypton?

3.-Did Kara-Zor El also have the mission to take care or the infant Kal-el like in other versions?

4.- Did Kara Zoe-El serve the house or Zod while in the phantom zone?

5.-Has Superman ever served as leader of the Justice League?

Hey Greg just some questions about the power of Shazam,

1.- You said Mary Doesn’t “owe” Freddy anything, but you didn’t mention Billy. does that Mean she was granted her portion of the power from Freddy and not Billy? Or was that an oversight?

https://s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=26032

2.-What happens to the power when a user of the power of SHAZAM dies? Is it gone for good? Does it go to a previous user?

3.- You said the power was “impossible to return”. As in Mary couldn’t give it away even if she wanted?

4.- If any of them transforms gets too much damage while transformed to they return to their human/ mortal forms?

5.- Does anytime they transform to their powered selves their powered bodies “reset” in their prime?

Say, hypothetically, Billy was hurt as captain marvel with a broken arm, then transformed back into Billy, then back to Captain Marvel. Would Captain Marvel still have his injuries?

Regarding your conundrum regarding how to tackle atheism on Young Justice, just speaking for myself as someone who has been an athiest for most of my life I've always believed that if the Gods of any form of faith were proven without a shadow of a doubt to be real I would still choose to not become a follower of them. I acknowledge their existence obviously, as well as the existence of concepts like souls, angels, demons, ghosts, heaven, hell, and so on, but just because they are real that does not mean that I now have to convert into one of that religion's followers, just like how nobody who practises a separate religion from the ones that God belong too would be obligated to convert.

I guess think of it kinda like when a controversial scientific theory is proven to be true; there will undoubtedly be some who are blinded by stubbornness and will insist that it can be explained some other way or in extreme cases outright deny their existence, but the vast majority would accept it as fact and adjust their world-view accordingly.

2. Did any of Miss Martian's other siblings make amends with her or offer their condolences when Superboy died or did they just avoid their sister altogether?
3. Does Mars now see Superboy as their greatest hero since he saved the martian race or do they see him as an equal to Martian Manhunter?

1. Was Artemis originally set to serve as M'gann's maid of honor and if so how did she feel being replaced by Em'ree?
2. Does Artemis feel envious, happy or both for Conner and M'gann. They got what she never had, being reunited with her lost love. Does Artemis feel a little envious that M'gann and Conner were reunited with each other after everyone assumed he was dead or is just greatly relieved and happy for the couple. I don't mean to paint her in a bad light or anything, but I find it hard to believe she wouldn't have some feelings on the matter?
3. Did you ever consider letting Artemis find out what Zee and M'gann did to her by pretending to summon Wally's ghost at the end of season 3 in season 4? I'm surprised I was really expecting she was going to find out since Miss Martian losing Superboy reminded her of when she lost Kid Flash and I was hoping that M'gann would feel guilty and confess what she did.
