Itâs a real shame that you decided to end up Chalant. Even if I believe thatâs the worse decision youâve made regarding this show I canât blame you for that, itâs still your show and do you do whatever you want after all. But did you really needed to do it like that ? Like breaking their relationship out of nowhere, without any explanation when everything seemed to be perfect in their relationship ? Whenever people ask you why they broke up, your only answer is « no spoilers » and you keep saying that since 2011 but here we are in 2022 like literally 11 YEARS LATER and still not an official answer, all we have are fan theories. Why donât you just say it ? At this point Iâm not even asking you to bring them back just to respond to a simple answer so I can get over this ship PLEASE.
I mean, the simplest answer is that not every high school relationship lasts into adulthood. Frankly, the fact that we had two couples that did, is already a bit of a stretch. I know it happens - I have an in-law who's married to her high school sweetheart. But most of my friends and relatives are not still coupled with the folks they were happily seeing in their early teens.
If you're looking for some BIG REVELATION as to why they broke up, I don't know that I have one that would satisfy you in a forum like this. It's a story to be told someday. Or a set of stories, really, involving both what brought them together and the many factors (small and large) that ultimately broke them up. I have a notion as to why Dick is a serial monogamist, and why it took someone like Barbara to finally nail him down. And I have notions as to what's going on in Z's love life, as well.
It should be obvious that Dick and Z are still friends, still on good terms, even still attracted to each other. But they've moved on. It's okay if you still mourn that ship, however. I certainly see its appeal. And, in any case, everyone's mileage varies. But we try to let our characters tell us where they're going. And this is what they told us.
Does Arsenal still act too recklessy when dealing with lex luthor. Or has he managed to keep his anger under control.
As of when?
1. Did Arsenal and the 4 Runaway Meta-teens (Virgil Hawkins, Asami "Sam" Koizumi, Tye Longshadow and Eduardo "Ed" Dorado, Jr.) ever learn about how Kaldur faked his betrayal, Artemis faked her death and how Nightwing kept them both a secret from the Justice League and the Team?
2. If they have then how did they react to it after learning about it?
1. Eventually.
2. I'll leave that to your imagination. But I'd think that their reactions weren't too different from those we depicted on the series - except for the fact that none of them had any real relationship with (or even knowledge of) Artemis. And only Arsenal had any ties to Kaldur or Dick.
Was Red Arrow's obsession with recovering Speedy in season 2 a nod/replacement for his comic book drug addiction?
Not particularly. But we tried to imply that he already had addiction issues - as a result of his obsession - leading into the intervention that his friends and family staged on that rooftop in "Salvage." I think that while going undercover he began using.
Vandal's design (at least his face) is way more different on season 3. I was surprised to see that he got a new design on season 4, way more similar to how he looked on seasons 1-2. Why did you guys decide to change it back (if we can put it in that way)?
(also, I know you don't like Deathstroke's ponytail from season 2, but everything else on that design is outstanding, can't say I haven't gotten a bit upset because his design wasn't also "changed back" xD)
It's been a while now, but I think we felt that some of the designs in S3 of YJ may have moved toward the DC Animated movie style, which Phil Bourassa also designed, and we wanted - in S4 - to pull back to some of what we liked better in characters like Vandal and Batman from the first two seasons. But I truly hated that ponytail, so changing Deathstroke back - even changing him back but losing the ponytail - wasn't a priority when we had so many characters to design anew.
1. How close are Superboy and Black Canary? Do they share a somewhat familial bond and are they still close by season 4?
2. Has Garth moved on from losing Tula or is he still struggling to move on like Artemis did?
3. When exactly did Cyborg join the Justice League and how long was he with the Outsiders before joining the League?
4. When did Conner and Megan graduate and move in together? Year and day please.
1. They're close. But, familial... no. I wouldn't think so. She's a friend and mentor.
2. I'm not sure what you mean by "moved on". I'm not sure I love that phrase. I'm sure he has good days and bad days.
3. Cyborg joined the Justice League in December of Team Year Nine. He joined the Outsiders in January of that same year.
4. They graduated high school in June, Team Year Two. I don't have a specific date. They graduated college in Team Year Six, but because of the Invasion, they may have graduated late. I don't have a specific date. Sometime after graduating, they moved in to the apartment above Lucas Carr's garage. Again, I don't have a specific date, but they were already living there together by July 29, Team Year Eight.
Does the Rannian Science Command member seen getting bribed by the Kroloteans in Earthlings have an official name?
Not yet.
Hi Greg, want to start by saying I love the world building of young justice and the amount of passion you and the team have towards the shows creation, huge respect! The fact that you even take the time to interact with and respond to fans who feel entitled to have all sorts of opinions is a huge thing in itself and the way you respond and handle situations is admirable! I have a couple questions that im not sure can be answered or would warrant a no spoiler haha. Ive looked through the archive to make sure it hasn't been answered before and I don't believe it has so here it goes:
1. Is the Blue Beetle "Big Bad" of Barts time actually Jaime? Once the Reach had Jaime in captivity they might've killed him off for a new host or maybe actually found a way to put him on mode, so the identity of the human host of the tyrant of Barts time is unclear.
2. Flash´s secret identity seems to be important to him, he even has a different eye colour when in his uniform (blue) as opposed to his actual green. With Jay being a public hero with his name known, surely people must recognise him out of costume? In associating him with Bart as his guardian, it wouldn't be impossible for people to make a connection between Allens and Jay, doesn't this put their secret IDs at risk?
Thank you in advance regardless of whether the questions are answered or not. I love the show a lot and have been enjoying the first half of season 4 so far (especially all of Klarions scenes, the were incredibly chaotic hahaha). Very excited for the rest of the season.
1. IT IS UNCLEAR!! You're the first person that I know of who has noticed that fact. It was left intentionally ambiguous. Jaime assumes, because Bart assumed, that it was him. But I think that's doubtful. Of course, now, we'll never know.
2. Bart's in costume, and the world doesn't know that he's Barry's grandson - especially since Barry's kids are so young. The fact that people know that Jay and Barry are friends doesn't automatically mean that Barry is the Flash. Presumably, Jay has more than one friend.
if you only intended for there to be a handful of characters that are leads, why didn't you keep the cast small like season 1 instead of adding a bunch of characters you have no intention of focusing on? that way, people could have focused on the mains without being distracted by the characters who are background. can you really blame people for being disappointed when their favorite character shows up, only for the show to do nothing with them and move onto someone else?
I don't blame people.
Why are you blaming me for making the show I want to make? (Or more accurately, the show that Brandon and I want to make, and which many, many, many fans seem to enjoy?)
I've already answered over and over again why we have always continued to expand our cast. Why some characters are leads in a given season. Why some are supporting. Why some are cameos. Why our spotlight moves around as it does. Feel free to go through the ASK GREG archives and get the lowdown. I'm definitely not in the mood to repeat myself.
But I will make these points:
Blue Beetle was a lead in Season Two. In Season Three he was supporting. In Season Three he only cameod. But should we have NEVER introduced him, just because we didn't make him a lead EVERY season?
Zatanna was supporting in seasons one, two and three. She became a lead for a chunk of Season Four. Should we never have introduced her either?
And if, for example, we made Wonder Girl a lead in Season Five (assuming we get a season five and assuming that's in our gameplan), should we have waited UNTIL Season Five to introduce her? Or might not her Season Five characterization BENEFIT from her having been introduced earlier and us having watched her grow at least a little from a Wonder Woman fangirl in Season Two, to the leader of the Outsiders in Season Four, leading up to whatever might be depicted in Five? And if we then dropped her back down to Supporting in Season Six, would that mean we should never have made her a lead in Season Five?
Different fans might disagree about their specific favorites, but I'd bet anything that NO FAN wanted us to have six heroes and NEVER introduce any more ever. It's a big DC Universe out there. And nearly every fan is frickin' greedy for their favorites to appear.
Hello I have another question!
I remember reading something about how there was some unused ideas for Young Justice Invasion! What were those unused ideas?
There weren't unused ideas specifically for Invasion. Brandon and I simply have a TON of unused ideas for Young Justice and Earth-16, in general. But I'm not going to tell you what they are. Cuz I don't give out spoilers.
